These items have been in my phone and closets for years, and now, finally, there's enough time and cash to get everything up onto the walls. Having tons of questions and being aware of how complicated this can be, I approached the whole thing with trepidation. And now, couldn't be happier with the results. They asked questions, explained the process, and made suggestions that worked. Everyone has a great sense of color and proportion, and all the attention to detail and documentation you could ask for when handing over your artwork. Folks, thank you for the technical (cropping, getting digital images out of my Mac and into Blick's servers) AND artistic education. With Tera's enthusiastic attitude one day and Xiao's patient, calm demeanor the next, I forgot to be anxious and actually had a good time. Prices were reasonable and definitely transparent. Some of my things were complicated and/or special, and worth the $$$ spent. On the other end, there was no attitude and no shame for being unable to spend a fortune on each piece. For instance, Maria was happy to take a low priced stock frame off the shelf so that the complicated 2-opening mat one item needed was affordable. When a pick up was enormous and heavy, Tera actually helped me out the door, down the block, and around the corner. She waited with me for an Uber to come and get it all home! Though turnaround time is not instantaneous, Blick meets promised deadlines. Last but not least, shout out to Phil, another employee who chatted with me during a short wait. Details do matter.

This adorable storefront contains art of all mediums -- accessories, garments, teas, pottery, and more. Whimsical NYC fruit magnets? Check. Stickers of Druid woodland cats? Absolutely. And it's surprisingly affordable -- there were some incredible prints in (so glad to see the artists' names were clearly labeled!) for $15-$20. I love this store…read more I visited this wonderful store a few months ago. The female employee, who was seated by the front door, was sweet and incredibly welcoming. It's a tiny shop but it's jam packed full of all sorts of interesting novelty and artisanal products. Some of the things I saw were beautiful hand made pottery, jewelry, key chains, stickers, paper products such as postcards, and zines. There were a few handbags and clothing on a rack outside the shop as well. I believe the inventory changes every few months. I can't wait to go back to see what new products they'll have available.

I was excited to see Blick was open for in-store shopping. I called ahead of my visit to find out…read moreif they had the items in stock and they did. So I was quite excited when I found a park right across the street. The layout was simple and quickly found the correct department. Some of the items were not on the shelf so I requested some help. That's when everything went down hill. As I waited for the employee to get the items from the stockroom, I encountered the locals. I know the neighborhood had changed but having rude school-aged kids and their parents invade my personal space as if the pandemic and I were non-existent was too much. Having a nasty father attempt to verbally attack me for moving back from their rude intrusions in a narrow space without so much as a word, completely disgusted me. By the reaction of the employees behind the counter, you know these kind of guys treat them the same way. I will go all the way to Manhattan to pick up items before I come back to deal with entitled jerks who have invaded the neighborhood.

The woman behind the counter might as well have been a mannequin for all the help she offered, but in my limited art supply experience, it seemed fairly well-stocked with several options for everything. I also don't have much to compare the prices to, but judging by some of their exorbitant prices on regular stationery items, there are probably better deals to be had elsewhere (feel free to tell me where, just in case I actually stick with this painting thing). In any case, the total came out a bit higher than I would've liked to spend, but you can't put a price tag on art.
