Having tons of questions and being aware of how complicated this can be, I approached the whole thing with trepidation. And now, couldn't be happier with the results. They asked questions, explained the process, and made suggestions that worked. Everyone has a great sense of color and proportion, and all the attention to detail and documentation you could ask for when handing over your artwork. Folks, thank you for the technical (cropping, getting digital images out of my Mac and into Blick's servers) AND artistic education. With Tera's enthusiastic attitude one day and Xiao's patient, calm demeanor the next, I forgot to be anxious and actually had a good time. Prices were reasonable and definitely transparent. Some of my things were complicated and/or special, and worth the $$$ spent. On the other end, there was no attitude and no shame for being unable to spend a fortune on each piece. For instance, Maria was happy to take a low priced stock frame off the shelf so that the complicated 2-opening mat one item needed was affordable. When a pick up was enormous and heavy, Tera actually helped me out the door, down the block, and around the corner. She waited with me for an Uber to come and get it all home! Though turnaround time is not instantaneous, Blick meets promised deadlines. Last but not least, shout out to Phil, another employee who chatted with me during a short wait. Details do matter.

I love this store…read more I visited this wonderful store a few months ago. The female employee, who was seated by the front door, was sweet and incredibly welcoming. It's a tiny shop but it's jam packed full of all sorts of interesting novelty and artisanal products. Some of the things I saw were beautiful hand made pottery, jewelry, key chains, stickers, paper products such as postcards, and zines. There were a few handbags and clothing on a rack outside the shop as well. I believe the inventory changes every few months. I can't wait to go back to see what new products they'll have available.

It was a time, we talked about how our summers went. I had initially planned to apply to work there before I accepted my summer camp job. They sold me on an 11x14 Blick spiral drawing pad, and a 9-pack of oil paints. I told them that it was for my upcoming painting class, which I was excited to take, as I had painted a lot with acrylic paint over the summer to relieve stress. It was a great outlet, as I was stressed about the summer camp job I decided to take before applying to Blick. It wasn't very well-run, so the camp itself was difficult to navigate as an employee. It was an art camp, so we used a lot of paint and other digital art materials while working. With this art experience over the summer, it was great to get back into a conversation about it. The only major problem was that the register was taking a long time to load after I had already paid, so I couldn't leave until it went all the way through. I understood though, as it reminded me of the times that the tech at my summer job wasn't working no matter what we tried. Nearly every day there were new issues we would run into. My coworkers and I would have to troubleshoot new solutions to see what would work. Like the workers at Blick, though, we would make it work. Eventually, I paid, and was able to leave. Overall, I definitely would return to this Blick location. The service was good, and I am happy with my purchases!

The woman behind the counter might as well have been a mannequin for all the help she offered, but in my limited art supply experience, it seemed fairly well-stocked with several options for everything. I also don't have much to compare the prices to, but judging by some of their exorbitant prices on regular stationery items, there are probably better deals to be had elsewhere (feel free to tell me where, just in case I actually stick with this painting thing). In any case, the total came out a bit higher than I would've liked to spend, but you can't put a price tag on art.
