Excellent coffee! This establishment is in the old Redbird Coffee location, but it's more than a coffee shop now. Breakfast and lunch is also served, and having another breakfast place in town is great. The sign has a nautical theme, but the ambiance is more of a coffeehouse vibe. It's bright, airy, and clean. There are a few kinks to work out, however, and I'm looking forward to the moment I can update this review with good news. We had an egg biscuit and an omelette. To our surprise, the omelette came with no side items: no bread, no potatoes...just the omelette. For the price, that seemed odd. The omelette wasn't overly stuffed, and there was very little bacon in the dish. The egg and cheese biscuit was a nice size, but it was very plain. A different cheese would enhance the flavor. The bistro was very busy, and the staff working seemed overwhelmed. It took 15 minutes and two requests to get our bill, and that wasn't what we would have hoped. With time, I suspect that this place will be working on a cylinders, but for the moment, be prepared to be underwhelmed.

Dude the chicken sandwiches and coffee are awesome. Ditch chick fil a for some local stuff that's twice as good.

Tonight's visit was probably the most pleasant out of all the times I've been there. Our waitress, Hannah (she allowed me to use her name) instantly knew the drink I usually got (a Cherry-infused Sprite) even though I hadn't been there in many months, which both surprised and pleased me. I've had Hannah as a waitress before a couple of times, but I was so impressed with how nice and polite she was, and how accurate she was with ensuring our order was correct. Another waitress also still remembers what I usually get, which shows you how much these people care. During this visit, I had the usual: a Texas bacon cheesesteak melt with light onions and a pack of Waffle House sauce to drizzle on it, and for the first time, I also got a peanut butter waffle with chopped up bacon on it. It was fantastic! Everything was cooked to perfection, and it was delicious as usual. There hasn't been a time that we've been dissatisfied, ever. As my grandfather and I were waiting on the customers in front of us to pay for their meal, the head chef who was an older woman had a very friendly conversation with my grandfather, which pleased me even more in terms of how friendly and welcoming the staff is. This particular Waffle House location is easily the best out of all I've been to, and this will continue to be our go-to location to eat when we're in Jacksonville.

Why? Service was super fast , the older waitress was working her tail off taking orders, serving, and even running the register. I got grits, pepper gravy, and sausage . My husband got 3 meats (sausage, bologna and crispy bacon) (bacon done right not floppy), homemade biscuits, scrambled eggs, and the best farm grown sliced tomatoes. They gave my husband the tallest cup of sweet tea I've ever seen anywhere. They also have for lunch a meat and 3 vegetable plate or even veggie plate. We plan on coming back for that. Unfortunately the floor was a bit sticky by the restrooms and just one woman stall. Hence the 4 * rating. It's open very early in the morning while most everything is not . We were glad it was walkable distance from Cornell's auto shop. My husband's truck had to be regenerated. It's a diesel and the ash had clogged the filter ugh. So if you are looking for home cooking and zero frills then pick this one.

They serve breakfast up until 10:30 am. They offer many choices for breakfast and offer menu and Meat & 2/3 for lunch. They usually have a daily lunch special also. The prices are very reasonable especially for the portion size you get. It is a seat yourself place and if you are looking for modern style, you're in the wrong place. If you are looking for a mom and pop small town feel, you hit the jackpot! We chose the meat & three today along with the daily special of buffalo chicken wrap. For the meat & three, we had pot roast, turnip greens, pinto beans, and butter peas. The meat and three comes with dessert and bread. For the wrap, you have a choice of grilled or fried chicken. It comes with fries and a drink. For a dollar more you can add a make your own salad from the salad bar. The wrap and fries were awesome. I think I'll try the Nashville hot wrap on my next lunch visit. The pot roast was nice and tender and well-seasoned. The vegetables were good but the turnip greens were a little sweet for our taste. We arrived a little after 11 am and once seated, our server greeted us and took our drink order. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu items. Once we placed our order, it arrived at the table about 5 minutes later. Our server checked on us regularly. The Main Street Café seems to do a very large take-out amount. Dozens of customers entered the restaurant just for take-out while we were there. Parking is a first come first serve on the narrow two-way street in a business area. You might have to circle the block a couple of times to get a parking space close. You can check their Facebook page for the daily lunch specials. All in all, we were very happy with our experience, and we will be back for more.
