Sigh.. so I love Journalism.. more specifically print journalism.. I was editor in chief of high school paper... I only mention it because we were the first class to use a computer to produce the layout for the paper.. so yeah I like the paper.. I had a few very good years w the Az Republic.. I had even started paying for the subscription for a whole year... ( yes .. the whole year).. some were along the line.. the delivery took a ... well.. dump!! Got worse.. so I thought.. ya know .. I think I want the New York Times .. boom.. did it.. a whole year.. cool.. guess what..some how it's the same people delivering the Republic .. so it sucked.. big time.. having to deal with the delivery of the Times was a flash point for the delivery carriers.... When I would report not getting the paper .. it would be credited.. but the next delivery would have a nasty little note from my carrier telling me how the got in trouble and docked for the non delivery... I could not believe that $&@" ,.. ya think the carrier hated me ? Yep .. I reported many times .. and even documented it.. I just got what papers I got and let the subscription end.. then .. I kept getting calls to renew!! And I would explain what happened.. again... oh no so sorry.... that really happened? We'll report it.. nope .. never a call .. letter.. email.. cause no one gives a &@$"... I was so excited thinking I was actually gonna get the Times and different delivery people and everything .. after all I did actually call the Times.. I was so disappointed.... I won't even tell you how much a year for that was... oh well .. I learned.. I couldn't believe that was just how they were.. as an Arizona native.. it's embarrassing.. I have been an Arizona Republic subscriber since I moved to Arizona 30 years ago. I appreciate having The Arizona Republic newspaper delivered every morning. Except when it isn't delivered. In the last eight days The Republic has failed to deliver the paper on four of those days. Delivery failures are nothing new. This has been going on for the last two years with intermittently failed deliveries nearly every month. I have security cameras on my front porch and driveway, so I am quite sure the newspaper hasn't been stolen. I usually check in front of the houses on both sides of my house, but the newspaper is never at one of these houses. I have reported it to customer service on most of the failed delivery incidents. The customer service reps are always apologetic and offer credit to my account. They say they will forward the incident to the department that oversees deliveries. So far, I have not been contacted by anyone from The Republic regarding any of my delivery issues. Apparently, the customer service reps are not allowed to transfer my call to anyone who may oversee deliveries or even anyone in management. (They blame the telephone system.) The Republic web site does not list the names and contact information of the Publisher, General Manager, circulation manager or anyone that might be able to help with my delivery issue. The Republic has isolated their customers from contacting anyone other than the nearly useless customer service department. Why are they hiding from their customers? Since I have a contract with The Arizona Republic to deliver the newspaper every morning. They are in breach of contract. Also, I have always fully paid my bills on time, so that is not an issue. Then they also recently raised my monthly rate without any notification or the reason why my rate has changed. Unfortunately, they are the only game in town with both national and local news. I don't want to cancel my subscription. I have had no issues with the content of the paper, other than a very meager sports page. No, I don't want to read the news on AZ Central on a computer monitor. I spend enough time in front of a screen. All I want is for The Arizona Republic to deliver the newspaper every day honoring my contract with them. read more

Went to buy Sunday edition. Leafed through it and found that the A&E section was missing. Checked another one in the stack; same thing. This has happened before. Once, the comics were missing. You can't depend on getting the entire newspaper here in Cottonwood. Used to subscribe but delivery was not reliable, so cancelled. read more

It is an UNEQUIVOCAL RAG. The bias in this RAG is PALPABLE, unacceptable, unsettling, off putting, and unbecoming for the fifth largest city in the United States. Facts are almost nonexistent...who, what, why, when, where, and how are no longer relevant. Pushing an ideologic agenda is the new journalistic norm. No one edits the articles anymore, bad form, punctuation, and grammar. A computer spell check is not enough...eyes on with a blue pencil! I'm not even going to get into the headlines! Are the new, young journalists from liberal/progressive schools...seems like? Entertainment and Sports writers do not qualify as opinion writers. Let them stick to what they know about their area of expertise...and not what they "think" or "feel." Censorship...no more letters to the editor except for on Sunday and four of the five letters are unabashedly pro-progressive. Customer Service...has gone by way of Sandusky and that's an insult to Sandusky. BLECH! Trying to converse with someone in the Philippines is like pulling hair from a Mexican hairless dog, a Xoloitzcuintli for you dog lovers! Totally useless. Their English is only a tad better than my Tagalog. The App...is non-intuitive and so muti-layered that it becomes an effort to achieve anything on it. If anyone has tried to talk with a customer service rep about a billing problem you are no doubt still frustrated. We could not speak with anyone that speaks clear English. We could not resolve our issue of being charged twice. The reason? There was no one we could understand. Unbelievable that there is not a person in the States we could talk to. read more

I subscribed to get the daily newspaper delivered for my dad. After 3 months and several calls to customer service, we have yet to receive any newspapers. Each time I contacted customer service, I was told they were going to contact the regional manager and get it sorted out. One time, they said they were going to get a different delivery courier. Still.... No newspapers. So, I'm off to call them AGAIN and officially cancel my subscription and ask for a full refund for anything that's been charged to my CC. Very disappointing. read more

Delivery. Since we have been given a new delivery person, our paper delivery has been poor. Customer service is inadequate. I have checked for paper 4 times today from 5:45am to 7:33. No paper. Called Cust serv number and automated message said to call back during biz hrs and hung up without providing the biz hrs In past I called a person and left 2 messages and recd no call back. My husband is a subscriber to the AZ Republic Newspaper for 40+ years. The paper offers a service called a "Temporary Hold" while you are out of town. We use the "Hold" while we are on vacation. BUT IT HAS NEVER WORKED. We come back to find ALL (or most) of the newspapers laying in our driveway. What a great way to advertise to burglars/squatters/kids etc. that we are not at home. They do credit our account, but a break-in would cost more than the $3 credit. Why offer a service that you are unable to perform? Is there no way to contact the delivery driver? What is your liability if the house is broken into??? Perhaps a high school student could write you a computer program to solve this issue for your subscribers. read more

TERRIBLE customer service. Sure, they "credit" your account if you report a missed delivery, but...where's the money?? It doesn't come off your next payment, nor is it refunded to your credit card. Customer Service reps are often rude (just got disconnected via chat after a brisk "sorry-you're-out-of-luck" sign-off). We just received notice that our digital subscription for the AZ republic was being doubled from 11.98 to 21.60......this is without home delivery. Plus they billed 2 months in advance........we only got the paper for the living section and occasionally the business into. We have been receiving the paper and they have deceptive charges. The bills for Wednesday and Sunday was one price and they over charged different charges every month. Then they charge extra for inserts which are called premium, which was actually advertising. Last week it was Lego. I didn't ask for it and I know Lego paid for it as well. I am BOMBARDED by your constant advertising yet this is not enough, you want my money ( not a lot but access to deduct money from my account) in order to read the news. BBC doesn't charge me, CNN doesn't charge me and lets me read the news, Guess what? If i had to pay, I wouldn't access those sites ever again. They get their money from advertising. Getting the newspaper just isn't the way it used to be. Not as many ads or coupons. You think that you are getting a great price until a few months after you start with that great price. You notice a much larger price on you bank statement. When you call to cancel and complain. You except another great deal with the promise of a credit. None of what they say is even true. NO CREDIT no great price NO more ads or coupons. Then they take that unexpected large amount out again. All they say is sorry it will be 3-5 days before you get that credit. Don't get suckered in to subscribe. You will be sorry. So I guess is started with a Groupon offer for Wednesday and Sunday for a set price for a year. OK. As it turns out, this is a lie, because there are many added charges for the paper around the holidays which add $41, which is almost more than I paid for the year. Next, after the Groupon ends they continue the newspaper, at full price, even when you never agreed to extend it. Then they cancelled it due to "nonpayment" having never even sent a bill. I finally did get a bill, after it was cancelled for $124. What a joke and a fraud. If all that wasn't bad enough, the delivery was intermittent at best. Its hard to even know it was cancelled when they don't deliver it everyday to start, and remember, I only got it two days a week. I have been a subscriber for 16 plus years, received their paper every day for all those years.I am now moving into a senior living facility ( an apartment) and they are giving me a hard time about cancelling my subscription. The facility I am moving into is secure and their delivery person cannot roam the hallways delivering the paper. They do not get this and every time I call I get bounced around. I am incredibly disappointed with AZ Republic's treatment of loyal print customers. My monthly rate was increased by $30 per month and automatically charged to my credit card without any prior notification of this increase. My delivery person is excellent and I hate to see him punished, but I may have no option. I now have a somewhat discounted rate for three months only, after which I can either argue with them again or cancel altogether -- guess which option I will chose. And ... Since Oct 29th I have not received my paper - I have called and emailed in over 9-times with complaints only to be told - we'll credit your account and resend the paper out. My account is never credited instead my account was debited a charge of $9.23 - with no paper delivery. I called in once again today, only to be told we will credit your account another month - we cannot refund the charge "that was our mistake" - we hope the paper gets delivered to you....
