I wish I could give lower than one star. We were so excited to find this place and trusted them with our dog while we went on vacation. He did a trial run and they said he was one of the best trials they ever did and we felt confident in leaving him overnight for a short trip. All was well so we decided to book him again for our 3 night vacation. Our dog did not come back the same, he has been anxious and timid since returned and that isn't even the worst part. The second we got in the car we noticed that his back paw was hurt. One of his nails had been completely ripped off. Not broken, completely gone and the quick completely exposed. When we called them to ask what had happened they claimed no knowledge, said it was a common injury - which I have never seen before- and basically did not care at all. We had to take him to the vet and have him sedated so they could cut the quick back. He is now on pain medicine and antibiotics and no word from the Ark. I understand accidents happen but we weren't even informed and they did not care. Even worse, we discovered an abrasion on his neck from the tight collar band they put on him to identify him. It's very clear to us that they do not care about or pay attention to your pets safety. We are absolutely gutted that our boy was treated poorly by people we trusted him with. Not to mention the vet bills we have had to pay on top of the boarding expense which is very close to what we paid for our holiday which was quickly ruined when we came home to discover our dog had been mistreated and hurt. We will never be back to this place and we highly urge that you do not use them either, they don't deserve to be left with the care of your pet and it's clear that if something does happen under their supervision that they do not care. Please take your pets elsewhere. read more

Our dog is happy to arrive and tired when we pick him up - that's the best sign for a doggy daycare! The pet cam allows us to view him during the day which is fun and provides peace of mind too. I had an appointment two weeks ago on a Thursday for a full groom so I dropped her off around 7:30AM. I get a call around 1PM telling me to come pick her up but that she only got a bath because the groomer left for "family emergency". I was charged for the bath ($30). I rescheduled for the next Friday (today). I got on Wednesday (week of) reminding me of the appointment. I spoke to the groomer myself and let her know that I was a bit upset about the fact that my dog got a bath when she wasn't even groomed like I asked and quite annoyed I had to pay for it again (because it's included in the full grooming price I couldn't argue too much). The groomer (sorry I cannot remember her name) was very polite about it and told me she would discount the bath from my invoice. I went to drop off my dog on the day of her appointment at 7AM (today) and the receptionist tells me that both her groomer and bather is out today for "family emergencies" and that everyone with a grooming appointment today were called and notified on Wednesday (the day they called to remind me of my still valid appointment date). I will say the kennel master that happened to be there when we picked our dog up was great. I dropped both my German Sheppard and my husky off for an assessment when I came to pick them up at the end of the day I was told that the husky passed but the Sheppard didn't I thought it was very odd considering both dogs have been in doggy daycare/boarded since they were puppies turn around and ask why they say he was snippy with other dogs my shepherd is shy at first but has never been snippy called the vet since they just started doggy day care out there not even a week ago and they told me that they did not have this problem out of my dogs. At first I took this very serious but my husband informed me later the look some of them had towards the Sheppard and how they reacted when I asked questions the people who did the assessment were not there and honestly that is really sketchy what this looks like is they are scared of bigger dogs or do not know how to handle them unless they are the less intimidating breeds my shepherd usually stays around the teacher until he gets comfortable so I was confused when it was made out that he acted so out of character on the flip side I love the kennel master that talked to me she wasn't there for the incident but wanted to reassess cause she herself thought it was very odd/out of character however the attitude surrounding me being this dog in I think I will be taking my business elsewhere these dogs have been apart of the family since me and my hubby both served in the Air Force meaning this is the 4th daycare they have been in. It's really odd you'd get a bad assessment out of one daycare at the age they are now. They did well at the daycare after this as well so beware bringing your pets here !! read more

I have recommended this establishment to all of my friends that are pet owners. I am a first time dog owner and looked all over Madison and Huntsville looking for a doggy daycare that I could trust and this place definitely fits the bill! The staff is extremely nice and knows my Milo by name and even gave him the nickname "Little Milo Bear", which I find extremely adorable. I love that they have cameras as well! I couldn't recommend this place enough even though it can be frustrating getting in and out of because it's right on HWY 72. I have been taking my little pup here for about a month and he loves it! I appreciate the Ark of Madison employees taking the time to wash the blankets of their boarded dogs. I assume this is a regular occurrence even if your dog stayed without any accidents? However, I think they should refrain from washing an actual dog bed. My dog bed was damaged during a boarding weekend. Most dog beds require spot cleaning or hand washing only. Most even come with removable covers. When informing this facility about my issue a manager/receptionist states"what do you want us to do about it?" Suggest to corporate that they change their policy for cleaning/sanitizing the actual dog beds and additional training on compassion, professionalism, and basic phone etiquette when speaking with a client read more

Unfortunately, after receiving good customer service and having a beautiful facility. I was unable to get a response on my concerns regarding the service my furbaby received. I sent them an email with hopes of having a resolution. But, it was to no avail. I brought him for a shampoo and when I checked him out I was unable to determine that he was even shampooed. When I went in to inquire I was told he indeed had been shampooed. Despite his beard being dirty and his coat was obviously uncombed. Hopefull this will not happen again. But, I can't refer this place with confidence. saddened read more

We are absolutely in love with this place. When I called a couple weeks ago to ask about how they did things and what we needed to do to board our dog, the staff seemed very helpful and super nice. We went today for his trial run to see how well he would do there and he did amazing! Thank you Justin and Stephanie for caring for our fur baby. Also, I absolutely love the report card they give and the treats. We couldn't get the cameras to work sadly but when he comes back, we plan to ask someone to show us how to get them to work. They have many fabulous offers and I love that they have a Pet Bakery. So glad a place like this is in Madison. read more

I've brought my dogs here a few times for doggie daycare and have been disappointed each time. Each time I have taken them I have watched the pet cam (which is terrible quality) and all I have ever seen is all the dogs huddled by the door. I have NEVER seen anyone playing with them. The times that I have seen someone in the area with the dogs they are just standing there not interacting with them at all. I know it will probably be said "you just looked at a time when no one was out there", no I have a desk job so i have the cam pulled up on my phone and watch the whole time. I just feel that for the price $27 a day there should be some interactions. What could be a better job than to play with dogs all day, I'd do it if I could. My dogs have never come home tired. They have just as much energy as when I took them. I just think if you need a babysitter for the day, this may be the right place for you but if you truly want your pets to be engaged and come home tired look somewhere else. The staff through the week was nice enough but on the weekend it was just a bunch of kids that looked pissed to be there and were not nice at all. read more

Around the middle of June 2022 I took my fur baby to The Ark Pet Spa and Resort Madison, AL for a mandatory play date before boarding him. This was to see if he was a good fit for the resort. I came back a few hours later and was told that he passed. I waited for about 5 minutes while they took care of another customer and went and got my baby. During the time I was waiting I was reading the various literature scattered on the counter. I then made a reservation to drop him off on the 23rd of June. I told the lady helping me that I would pick him up on Sunday the 26th between 4 and 6pm if I made it back in time, if not it would be the first thing Monday morning. She said "lets make it Monday, then, if you can, you can get him on Sunday." I agreed then made the reservation. On the 23rd I dropped my baby off. While getting him checked in I noticed a paper taped to the counter stating that if I picked up my baby between 4-6pm on Sunday I would be charged a "$10 late fee". Mind you, their hours posted on the door state that they are open from 10am -1pm then 4pm-6pm on Sundays. I mentioned that this policy was not told to me. I was told "Sorry, there is nothing they can do." That the notice had been on the counter. I'm sorry, no it wasn't when I made the reservation. I read EVERYTHING. I did make it back in time to pick him up on Sunday, (a day EARLIER than scheduled) and was charged the $10 late fee. I called corporate to make a complaint, and have yet to hear from them. I am writing this to let everyone know that you WILL be charged an extra fee for picking your baby up on a Sunday during their "open" hours. If you're going to charge extra, why be "open" then?? read more

I have a now 7 month old blue heeler and she started coming to the Ark 3 months ago. I loved the report card they gave her upon completion of her trial day. The staff all know Skye when she comes in and they are always super sweet to her and me. Skye loves going there and gets excited as soon as we pull in. She loves the pool in the summer and I watch her playing well with the other pups during the day. The guy at the front desk is so incredibly great with Skye. read more

We went here for the first time last year and we loved it at first. The workers were very nice and were very accommodating, however, it seems like they did not have enough workers for the amount of dogs that were there. We booked our dog there over Thanksgiving and it was not too great. They have cameras where you can watch your dog, which I thought would be great. However, all the other 15 dogs kept jumping my dog and they did nothing about it. They told us that if they saw it happening they would stop it, but the worker just watched instead. When we picked our dog up, he had raw spots from where the other dogs were grabbing on to him. We also had to pay extra for him to stay on thanksgiving, which I didn't mind expect they never out him out of his cage at all. In my opinion, if I am going to pay extra over a holiday, it would be because a worker is going to be there to keep an eye on my dog, which this was not the case. I am very disappointed in the way these situations were handled. read more

My dog has been here several times and always seems to have a good time. I watch the cam while she is there and the caretakers seem to control the dog madness well. Front office staff is friendly and things always seem in order, not chaotic. So far so good. read more

Boarding my dog and my sister's dog together while on vacation in June...they were suppose to get a bath since they stayed there more then 6 nights, that didn't happen. We gave them treats to give them a few times throughout the week, that didn't happen. We asked them to feed them separately, that didn't happen. Watching the cameras throughout the week we noticed that whenever dogs would poop/pee in the play area it would sit there for up to and over an hour. We called to mention this to them and nothing was done to fix it, they said they were short staffed, which I understand but you cannot let the dogs just run around/through fresh poop. And since they just let them free play all day they learn to use the bathroom whenever and wherever they want. Both of our dogs came home with every ounce of house training flushed down the drain. Would have almost been better off just leaving them in the backyard and having a friend come feed them. read more
