I was looking for a new place to shoot with my brother in law when I came upon The Armory. When I walked in I was struck by how neat and tidy the place was and how professional everyone was. I could see a clear push towards a few brands, so if I was in the market for such an item, I know where to go. The range was VERY nice (the nicest one I've seen yet). First off, I've been to several other gun shops/indoor ranges in the Salt Lake valley and have never been impressed by the level of customer service or knowledge. There's a new one near my home in South Jordan, which is a really nice facility, but 9 out of the 10 times I've been to this other place, it felt like they didn't want my business. Being former military, I understand some of the attitude and no-nonsense manner that comes with being in the service. But in a public business, it can hurt patronage and sales. While it's important to be vigilant in a gun environment, it's also important to create a tension-free atmosphere by knowing how attitude and body language affect others. Knowing when and having the ability to "turn the dial up" is a critical skill that takes time to develop and learn. It's not necessary to have the dial cranked up to a 7 and treat everyone like an imminent threat. As my granny always said, "You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar." Now, let me talk about The Armory. I went here with another veteran on Veteran's Day and had a great time. Upon entering their facility, we were greeted by a friendly staff member, who kindly directed us to their shooting range. At the range area, we were met by another friendly staff member, who explained the check in procedure and chatted with us about his service and our service. No attitude, no issues, no problems. We got set up with targets, received instructions on the range, and got our assigned lane. This is the nicest range in the valley. Clean, well-maintained, and most importantly, well-ventilated. On this last description, I'm not sure it's possible for an indoor range to be too ventilated, short of sucking the air out of your lungs. I've noticed other ranges can get rather hazy, but not this one. We started with only one other person using the range and left with around 8 people shooting at that time. The air stayed the same and was remarkably haze-free, so you know they've got a good system. I appreciate the cleanliness too! A sign of a good range is how well the shooters treat the facilities. Every single patron cleaned up after themselves and left their assigned lanes clean for the next customer. Little things can make huge differences! While shooting, my Eotech battery crapped out. The Armory staff not only asked if I needed a new one, but they went out of their way to find a fresh unit from their newly arrived stock. Overall, I came away very impressed with their staff and facilities - absolutely top notch! In conclusion, I've found a great range in The Armory and they've gained a loyal customer. read more

The Armory is now my go-to default indoor range. It's always clean and tidy; the benches/lanes are wide enough to have all your gear spread out and not have to move your ammo and targets out of the way to get to your notebook etc. Ventilation is very effective--the best I've experienced--it is pretty loud though, and the airflow is high enough velocity that it can blow paper targets out of plane on some lanes (heavy card seem to do okay though, if you're printing your own). Both of these slight negatives are acceptable, IMO, as a cost of the excellent ventilation. I like the sooth epoxy floor and the available sweepers to clean up your area and keep the brass fro getting under your feet. Good 'Ready-Bench' area too and it's far enough back that it doesn't feel crowded even when there are a few people around. The benches are not deep enough to use a front and rear rest on a rifle but then I've never seen an indoor range where they are. Since this is a pretty much brand new, purpose built facility, I would have thought that would be a nice touch but then everything has a cost and there are probably not many people this matters to so I understand the decision. Overall this is the nicest indoor range I know of in the Salt Lake Valley (full disclosure: there are a couple I haven't been to yet). The aforesaid notwithstanding, I confidently (and frequently!) recommend this range to all I come across." read more

The armory is a great place with a lot of ZevTech aftermarket parts for Glocks. They also have the most high tech range that I have used.

The staff was incredibly respectful and helpful. We went there to celebrate my birthday and had a blast trying many of the guns they had available for rental. The gun simulator was a nice way to get some extra bang for my buck without dropping even money for ammo. read more

A "newer" indoor gun range compared to others with a very good group of guys working there. They are very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions I had concerning my first ar15 build. They're are not pushy about anything and don't see you as just anther sale they definitely take an interest in what you're looking for. The range facility is really nice and spacious and I love the control panel that they use for sending out the paper targets. It let's you know exactly the distance you're shooting at rather than guessing! They also have a private lane if you want to take your spouse or a few friends shooting which is a really nice touch. When I purchased a handgun from them I was give 1 month of range use and spent a lot of time there haha. They offer a simulation trainner which can help anyone from adults to children, concealed carry classes at a very good price, a variety of firearms you can rent and try out, and special shooting events done monthly give you a lot to do! Only thing that comes to mind for improvement is maybe some more accessories and brands but they have the meat and potatoes of what people purchase from a gun store. I'm looking forward to the next time I go shooting there. read more

I used to go to a range in South Jordan but most the people there are not customer friendly and even some of the owners as well! So I started going to the Armory, the range isn't the best, BUT you don't need perfection to throw lead down at a wall. I enjoy the staff there and I take all my gunsmithing that I don't have the tools to do or can't do on my own and they are awesome! They usually can do it while you're there! There are also great guns and gun parts in store with very competitive pricing. read more

The Armory is not exactly in my neighborhood, but it is so worth the 20 minute drive down to Sandy! This really is the best shooting range in all of Salt Lake City and vicinity. There are other indoor ranges, but none live up to the high quality standards set by the Armory staff. A full service gun shop with a wide variety of well priced firearms, and they allow you to shoot just about everything that they have in stock and for a very good price. Operating the targets and the great ventilation in the shooting lanes area makes this a special place to practice. If there was a negative, which honestly, I would have to search for it, it would be that they are very crowded on Saturdays if you don't get there early! But for me, with my time off during the week, it is a perfect place to go and blow off a few rounds and work on my target practice. The people who designed and run this operation are truly gun lovers and real professionals. If there was a way to give another star, I would! Well done! read more

I saw this new gun store from the freeway and decided to swing by. The staff was great. Intelligent and did not b.s. me. I had a question he didn't have the answer to and he immediately researched and got the answer needed. I went back to there range and it is extremely nice. Also has a variety of guns to try out. Very cool store with a nice open layout and super friendly staff. The guys there were really cool and open to talking to us about their operation. Better yet they had a fully functioning MP5 that I couldn't resist renting and the price was pretty reasonable. Other ranges we went to only let you shoot one mag but these guys let you rent the gun and shoot it as much as you want. Ontop of that, I really liked how they had one bay by itself. It was pretty wide/roomy and it was nice to get some privacy. I don't care to have a bunch of people standing around me watching me shoot this bad ass gun so it was super cool to have our own bay to enjoy this bad boy. LOVE The Armory -- thanks so much for your help in choosing an awesome Springfield XD-45, and my new treasure - the Ruger 10-22 (can't wait to bring the older grandkids in to shoot this one!). Outstanding support from a friendly and professional staff. The only drawback is the crowding that can occur on the range when it is full and shooters have dragged in all of their stuff, e.g.: hardshell gun cases, range bags, jackets, purses, food, drink, strollers, beach umbrellas, etc. read more

A great gun shop and range right off I-15. Electronic sign in and waivers done on tablets instead of old fashioned paper. Reasonable lane rates starting at 10 bucks an hour and very competitive ammunition prices on site. They even have a good selection of rentals if you are in the market to buy or just want to try something new. Want to try a suppressor? They have that too! Staff is very helpful and friendly and the range is state of the art. Sections for rifles and handguns, the target return system is fully digital. No more need to fiddle with forward and back to get the yardage you want. A few button presses and your yardage is dialed in precisely. Ventilation system seems top notch as each shot only left a hint of spent powder in the air. They even have a frequent shooters club with awards if you are a frequent visitor. I have not yet tried their smithing services, but looking forward to give them my business when the time comes. read more

I've been coming here a lot the last few months. They have the best maintained range in the valley. The range has awesome ventilation plus there is 1 25 yard range that has 8 stalls, 1 single 15 yard range and 1 15 yard range with about 8 or so lanes. The guys there are very friendly and helpful. It's worth my drive from salt lake to not have to choke on the smoke. read more
