My favorite spot in Indiana. Hands down. I haven't been in for few years, but this morning I decided on a whim to get a latte and check out some local art. Things have somehow gotten better at The Artists Hand! Our drinks were amazing. Cookie, fantastic. My husband had a little panini which was fine. The art selection has grown! Prints (which were previously not so available), pottery, textiles, jewelry! I feel like I'm back in the city when I step in here. Someone is playing the piano as I type. I could cry. An update: we purchased two pieces of art. It wasn't hard to find something that I liked. In this case, about twenty somethings. We chose a unique metal photograph (a bit pricey) and a funky, pre-matted photography print (only 30$!). Both pieces are quite large but the barista was able to ring them up and wrap them in no time. I love the concept of the The Artists Hand- it doubles as an art gallery as well as a coffee shop! The staff are always very friendly and the drinks are very good. My favorite is their dirty chai and the Italian sodas here are really good as well. It's a great place to get some work done or just grab a coffee while looking at some art. Dropped in on a day trip through the area when I needed to stop for a quick beverage. The barista greeted us warmly and asked us to let her know when we were ready to order (love the lack of pressure when I need a few moments to look at the menu!). I ordered a large chai latte, all for a mere $4.25, and it was delicious. Served at the perfect temperature to drink, too! Highly recommended for a quick stop to quench your thirst, and while I didn't take the time to peruse the art, I can see this would be a nice spot to spend the afternoon as well. read more

Looks nice from the outside, but since we can only visit after 5 pm due to work schedules, we have not been able to actually get inside. Thought it would be a great place to visit after dinner on a Saturday night, or a Sunday afternoon. I don't understand why the gallery isn't open in the evenings or have longer weekend hours. Then again, a lot of the businesses in uptown Indiana close at five or aren't open on the weekends. read more

Get the Americano. Tastes like I am in Vienna! Excellent nutty flavor. This coffee house is one of the cleanest, most welcoming, and with good artwork. My only request would be to see more abstract representation in but sculpture and canvassed pieces. Also, personally, I like my canvas pieces not in a frame and with a black painted edge. read more

My friend and I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon because she had seen signs for the coffee shop and wanted to try it out. We're both townies, so we get pretty excited for new businesses hitting the main street of one Indiana, PA. The Artist's Hand is a coffee shop/gallery. The man working the coffee shop is named Gary and he was super polite and friendly. I ordered a cafe au lait and really enjoyed it. I believe they even do the "coffee art", where images are shaped into the foam at the top of your cup. Needed? No. But every once in a while you just get something you want, rather than need. I didn't get any food, but was informed that they will soon be selling baked goods from the Six Hand Bakery up on 8th street, which is exciting...because I love baked goods. What's really great about this place is the atmosphere. The exposed brick walls kind of take you back in time. The paintings/photography/art is done by local artists. The BEST thing about this place though, were our discussions. My friend, boyfriend, and I were sitting discussing politics/religion/life within a calm dialogue (get it...dialogue...sometimes we even laughed...it does happen). Gary and the Gallery owner didn't hesitate to jump in on the conversation and the discussions we had were phenomenal (and we weren't even agreeing on everything...who knew?). The bottom line is I got a great vibe from this place and I'm excited to go back again, perhaps to one of the shows/events. read more

This place is one of my favorite spots in Indiana! The coffee shop brews Commonplace coffee (actually, I think they share a few baristas with Commonplace as well), so pretty much any espresso drink you can think of is incredible. They have an interesting and diverse art selection which they seem to rotate very regularly. I wind up there at least one every couple of weeks and usually see something new. read more

The atmosphere at the Artists Hand is great for meetings- both professional and casual. It has a great location on the main street in downtown and is close to campus. While I visit I really enjoy browsing the artwork on display. They seem to change the exhibits frequently. And lastly but most important- the coffee is great! The baristas are very knowledgeable in a variety of coffee drinks and give me great recommendations for trying new and delicious drinks. I highly recommend stopping in! read more

On November 7, 2013 I had an Open House at the Artists Hand Gallery for my jewelry business, Whatsoever Lovely Designs. The space was beautiful and gave the ambience we wanted, and the staff was so helpful and accommodating. So many of the guests that came that night commented that they had never been there before, and didn't realize how nice it was. I wish I could have an open house every month, just to experience the pleasure of observing people who see it for the first time. This is a beautiful gallery in town that showcases artists, but also provides a creative atmosphere in which one can just sit and absorb the relaxed surroundings. What a delightful and lovely treat tucked away in downtown Indiana, PA! My wife and I had our wedding reception here on July 27th, 2013. Though this was their first wedding reception, we were confident from the start that they would deliver a beautiful event, and they did. The space itself, with an exhibition of watercolor paintings and sculptures made the evening extra special for everyone! Remember, however, that this is not simply a gallery, but also a cafe, where the beverages are as delicious as the interior design and decor.
