Avoid This Company - Poor Quality, Property Damage, and Unprofessional Ownership…read more I hired this company in September 2024 to replace my walkway and garage apron. In less than a year, after the first winter the concrete started crumbling and falling apart 6 months after the job was done. After the second winter, more crumbling. To make matters worse, their crew damaged my front step chipping off a piece of it during the installation and never repaired it. Getting in touch with them has been an absolute nightmare. I reached out on April 24th with no response, followed up on April 27th, and have been given the runaround for nearly three months. Today (July 15th), I finally received a call from who I presume was the owner, Tim. Instead of standing behind his company's work, he offered to "split the cost" with me to replace the defective concrete. Expecting a customer to pay a second time to fix a job that failed in under a year is completely unacceptable and highly unprofessional. Meanwhile two of my neighbors replaced their aprons a few years back and it still looks flawless today, not a single chip, crack or crumble. This is a dishonest way to run a business. Because of their subpar work, property damage, and refusal to make things right, I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and pursuing legal action. Save yourself the headache and money, do not use this company.

My first look inside I saw the concrete floor was not finished correctly. Know how the sidewalk or walkways you see everywhere outside? That's what they did inside. troweled crack control joints and the floor was not troweled flat at all. The lighting was done incorrectly and not according to plan. Not a single light was installed over the workbench but off to the other wall instead. the sheetrock wasn't hung in any timely matter at all. missing vapor barriers. She told me that they charged her $1500 for electric service connection which she later found out that $300 was what Excel charged Sussel. The subs Sussel uses must be getting shorted on pay for them to do such shoddy and incomplete work. Can't think of any other reason for them to not care about getting it done correctly. She said she has not been successful in getting them to fix anything and they sued her when she tried withholding the last payment. I really feel sorry for her getting taken by a company that really does shoddy work. I've read other reviews about Sussel and it really seems to be about which subs they use. My advice? Hire your own subs. Make sure everyone sticks to the blueprint.

ACI Asphalt & Concrete

Poor quality, do not stand behind their product, and they flat out lie. I would strongly advise…read morethat you avoid this company. I had a long asphalt driveway put in by ACI, it was a long driveway and was a DOT blend that was supposed to support heavier vehicles. Just as the installation crew was finishing up I immediately called out that it looked like there was a low spot near our pole building, but they said it was good and had plenty of slope. Turns out it wasn't good, there was a huge puddle days later after our first rain. After being ran around in circles for years (YES YEARS). The only "repair" they did was when they came out without any notice and torched the spot to try and fix it. I came home to what looked like a car fire burn in the asphalt, now a scorched driveway with a puddle. Fortunately, I had held back paying a portion of the final invoice ($4,413). Eventually was told they would get it fixed with concrete for "close to the remaining balance owed" ($4,413), well they never did. I have attached a screenshot of that actual email. The last two times I spoke with the President, Justin Pomerleau last fall, he told me they would have it done before winter. I also have a screenshot of an email from him reassuring me of this. They never did and also stopped responding. Now I have to go the legal route because I am getting it fixed on my own dime, costing me more than $9,000 after deducting the remaining balance I owe. The puddle is a large ice puddle in the winter and I have had people fall, luckily no major injuries yet. It also damaged my large door on closing because of the ice buildup. Very frustrating and it has wasted so much of my time. They gave so many excuses before finally admitting they were responsible for correcting it. Too many excuses to list, but here are a few: ~It was out of warranty, but I had proof I was repeatedly contacting with the issue since the week of install, they agreed. ~There wasn't enough slope, but every company that has come out (including their own rep from ACI) said there was well more than the 1.5 degree min. ~They tried to separate themselves from the company they merged with, but yet the ACS logo was on their emails next to ACI. Obviously, they are one in the same. I can go on and on. Look at the photos and correspondence I have attached. (I omitted some information because I didn't feel it was right to give their email and cell phone details.) You can see their own words that they lied to me. You can also see the puddle, the scorched asphalt. I tried to take the high road, gave them literally years to get this done, but they are NOT people of their word and I wanted everyone to know, or at least be warned, so they would not end up being another victim.
