Second time here. HORRIBLE doctors office. Staff (besides KRIS) acts like they came from pits of hell and miserable. First time I came 15 minutes early, waited 3 hours and was VERY patient.. staff was very rude to patients and my first was OK. Only annoying part at the time was the long wait time just to be seen and they said they were short staffed and was rude to waiting room cause they were upset. Second time arriving, was 15 minutes late and GAVE courtesy call that I was on the way... which most people didn't do.. and I was seen 2 hours later. I get being late, but I was within grace period and the doctor seen another patient - which is fine but 2 hours later for me to be seen is crazy. When I asked the girl how much longer it'll be because I wasn't there for anything but a follow up of blood results. She threw it in my face that I wasn't 14 mins late and said " yeah you were pretty late so the doctor seen someone else" and I left it alone after telling her I have another appointment at 3:30. Mind you my appointment started at the asthma center at 1:20pm so that's 2 hours almost of waiting around. And if they were going to have an issue with me being late or be rude about it, when I called letting them know I'm running 14 mins late- they should've told me to reschedule instead of being nasty about it. Then when the Nurse practitioner came in- she came in out of breathe and already irritated telling me " yeah so your going to have to come back and reschedule because we are running behind and you need to do a breathing test and your skin test... and we don't have time for it. " and I told her ... I already did that last time I came. She was so confused and didn't know anything in my notes /chart. Than she proceeded to blame it on how I was late and shouldn't had even been able to come. FIRST OFF, I was within the 15 minute grace period and gave a courtesy call WHILE on the way. If you guys had an issue with being late (which is hypocritical cause your patients have to wait 2hours to even be seen) than you should've told me to reschedule. Not be rude and treat people like peasants because of being 15 mins late. Than I still was being nice and trying to talk to the doctor to let her know my story and positive experience managing my asthma with vitamins, allergy meds and helpful herbs.. and she criticized herbs and said nothing but medication will help. She also would not let me talk and was very impatient... and blamed it on me being late. She was very rude and HORRIBLE. Worst doctor I ever had in life. Did not let me talk or reassure anything I said. Horrible bed side manner. Rushed me out, very unorganized.. didn't even know why I was being seen. Did not have proper notes from last visit - was missing my bloodwork from my immune testing and didn't have that until I reminded them. She tried to tell me that I didn't get a breathing test done or allergy testing WHICH is not true and if she took the time to ask.. she would have known that. Words of advice: take the time to know and understand your patients.. not everyone is a statistic or the same. Also, I was rudely criticized by the doctor saying " how often do you smoke , cause I smell it on you" and I said I don't smoke.. and she said " well who does cause I smell it on you " how about you ask first and believe me when I say I don't. This company also doesn't do anything electronic which makes them in return unorganized and spend so much time trying to find information from YOUR MyChart.. Every-time I'm here it's an issue and it's not worth it. NP patty rexer Was very rude and kept cutting me off. Go here if you want a headache, to argue with your experience and take her frustration out on you and not give you the room to talk. The staff here acts like they work for a prison and don't greet or cater to the needs of the patience. It's all about meds, meds and being reliant on shots and them to get by. She had the nerve to say herbs don't help the immune system when half of the medications are MADE from herbs or natural ingredients. read more

While the nurses were always helpful and nice, going to The Asthma Center was an invalidating experience, especially as a disabled black woman. After running a bunch of tests that ended up costing me thousands, I was dismissed and told all problems were because of my weight. I have since found a wonderful practitioner who did not dismiss my concerns, was placed on new medication, and have had no further issues. I also learned that the underlying issues could be the progression of my chronic illness, something that was not discussed at The Asthma Center. I will call this a learning experience. read more

They we're packed and over booked. More ppl than I feel comfortable with in a two room space. BOOM... Finally get in the back. Barely saw the doctor, the nurse did most of the interview. that's cool. Now it's skin test time... she's poking me with holes like a fkn pin cushion however kick me out before they even reacted. The ALLERGY doctor couldn't dx allergies, mumbled some stuff, scribbled some stuff, and left. he did not answer any questions. he was not clear. just wrote me a prescription and I'm supposed to fill it. I have NEVER felt so unheard and dismissed in my life. As a blacj woman dealing with my health, I take it seriously!! He was so horrible, I don't even know his name. he was just oldwhite and rude! 0 out of 10, I do not recommend!! also.... I took pictures of both of my arms AFTER they both reacted after about 20 minutes AFTER I LEFT, when I went back the following week for a breathing test (because they were so booked I had to come back), no one would even look at them. I was seen by Dr. Goldstein, not only did he diagnose my problem he made me aware of some other issues that should be addressed. I have a debt to Dr. Goldstein for which I can never repay. I was referred to The Asthma Center after suffering from a four month cold that wouldn't go away. The initial diagnosis was Asthma, but then I also developed a Cardio Myopathy (enlarged heart). Instead of just referring me to a Cardiologist, Dr. Goldstein took special interest in my condition and worked diligently until I was correctly diagnosed. A year later I was eventually diagnosed with a rare blood cancer that effects 4,500 people in the US annually; Amyloidosis. After several sinus infections this past winter I finally went to the allergist office and am glad I did. I see Dr. Goldstein for both my allergies & asthma, and come to the office weekly for allergy shots. This year my allergy symptoms have been really intense and have evolved through the seasons but Dr. Goldstein is very thorough and listens to my symptoms and I always leave feeling like both they, and any of my concerns are addressed during office visits. The allergy shot schedule changes month to month, but it is widely published, advertised and available online. As a patient you can also sign up for their pollen & mold count email alerts which are super helpful to know times when it might be best to stay indoors, take different allergy meds or whatever works best for you. The front staff is nice as are most of the nurses - you could get stabbed on a weekly basis at far worse places, right? Now that I've been getting them for 5 months and feel like they are starting to help. Until I hit maintenance though, I know that if I have issues I can call and get a ring back or make an appointment for help with symptoms pretty quickly! read more

They have added more staff and this is by far one of their busiest offices in the area for shots. I go on my lunch for my allergy shots and there is always a wait (because others had my bright idea). All the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I opted to also get my flu shot from them this year because 1) they are very practiced at giving shots & 2) they offered the 4 strain shot so I am best protected for the season. read more

Currently at the Asthma Center waiting after getting tested for allergies. Not sure why the nurses are all rude, gossipy and seem annoyed, however, my nurse is knowledgeable and good at her job despite not liking me asking questions or making requests. This is my second visit and I have had billing issues after my first visit. Overall, they seem to know what they're doing, but would like to be treated better. Great if you just are interested in the services but not so much if you'd like to be treated well. read more

The only reason they get two stars instead of one is because I really liked Dr. Goldstein. It's too bad his support staff is literally unforgivably bad. It's one thing to get diagnosed - but that doesn't matter if you literally cannot get his admin staff to help you get a prescription filled. I've always had extremely bad allergies and no one has been able to help me as much as Dr Goldstein. I didn't even know I had asthma until Dr Goldstein had me do an asthma test and because of that it really improved my breathing. His evaluations are thorough, you can tell he really cares about his patients because of how much time he spends with them, and I would highly recommend having him as your physician. Dr. Goldstein, the nurses and his staff at The Asthma Center have been extremely helpful to me in dealing with Chronic Urticaria, Refractory Angioedema, Sinusitis, Asthma, Allergies, and other auto-immune related issues. Despite having a busy office, the staff is always friendly and responsive (and patient) and the nurses are always so caring and helpful. Dr. Goldstein is brilliant and has dedicated 100% of himself in helping me find a cure through a novel approach and always provides me with expectional care. He is an extremely skilled doctor who uses evidence, method and intuition, as well as compassion. Dr. Goldstein has excellent communication skills and is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He always goes above and beyond the call of duty. Dr. Goldstein has coordinated my care with my other specialists and has personally advocated for me when dealing with the insurance company. I have been to several specialists over the years and it wasn't until I visited with Dr. Goldstein that I was given hope, support, and relief. I trust Dr. Goldstein, the nurses and staff at The Asthma Center completely. They are compassionate, kind and genuinely care and I am forever grateful to them. Look elsewhere. It typically takes 15 minutes or longer to receive your injections even when no one else is in the waiting room. The front desk staff is grouchy. The nurses are consistently gossiping with each other about the work conditions. Dr. Goldstein is terrible. I've gone to other allergists, so I know it doesn't have to be this way. read more

If you have allergies, asthma, lung, or any type of immunological issues, this is the place to go. Their staff is wonderful & friendly and they always make you feel right at home. I primarily see Dr. Marc Goldstein and he is an outstanding physician. His concern for his patients is unparalleled. Dr. Goldstein takes the time to learn about his patient as an individual. I am a new patient at The Asthma Center. Everyone I have come in contact with here has been very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. There is plenty of staff so you are very well attended to when you are there, and so far, all are very thorough and efficient. I had testing to determine the cause of my repeating sinus infections. I was nervous for some of it and the staff was empathetic, patient, supportive and encouraging; cognizant of the fact that I did not feel well at all. The Dr. I saw, Marc Goldstein, MD, is extremely thorough, asking lots of questions and listening to the answers to help diagnose and prescribe. I do not feel that he over-prescribed to push services either. I am pleased with the overall relationship and will continue to use this practice for my ongoing needs. read more

I suggest nobody visit this place. My experience: I have had allergy issues (especially nose) for years, and wanted to find out what I am allergic to via a detailed allergy test. I googled around and found this place online. I made a phone appointment and EXPLICITLY told them what I need is "allergy test". The staff people are friendly and professional at doing allergy test. However, this doctor Marc Goldstein seems assume EVERYONE have asthma and should take a full Asthma screening. I guess that is why the place is called "Asthma Center"?! The Asthma screening took me more than 1 hour, and of course the result proved that I don't have asthma. What a test! In addition, the allergy test is at most coarse-grained. The test shows that I am allergic to tree and grass pollen. However, this is what I kind of already knew since my allergy symptom gets worse when I am outdoors near the green. When asking Dr Goldstein specifically what trees I am allergic to, he says "Birch, Oak, Elm, ..." in total seven trees! What? Because the test contains all seven trees combined! It simply doesn't tell you which tree or trees you are specifically allergic to. The best part is the bill. I received a bill close to $1,100! Well, it includes the unnecessary asthma test and the really-rough allergy test, doesn't it? And you will have to pay the bill within 15 days, as written on the bill. Anyway, I paid the bill and learned a lesson: never visit this place again! read more

The Asthma Center is a lifesaver, literally. Their doctors, nurses, and staff are excellent. I have never had anything but positive interactions with everyone there. I'm usually treated by Marc Goldstein, MD, who is low-key, very knowledgeable, and helpful, but I've seen most all their docs and nurses in the center city office, and all are great. I am lucky it is within walking distance of my work in center city. They have treated me for years. First I had allergy shots 30 years ago at a different practice under one of their superb founding docs, Eliot Dunsky, MD, now deceased. That significantly reduced my terrible tree, grass, ragweed, and mold allergies for about 20 years. I found him at this practice years about 10 years ago for allergy follow-up, and he and their great other docs treated my wife and our allergic and asthmatic kids at their Bala-Cynwyd location. I'd always had allergies but never asthma until recently. I am glad I was being seen there for a second round of allergy shots (which worked well also) when several years ago I started getting symptoms of asthma during an illness. Even though they had treated our kids (well) for asthma and taught us that allergies and asthma often occur in the same person, I had never had asthma and did not recognize this as asthma until it was very serious. At my first allergy shot appointment after this started, Dr. Goldstein diagnosed me with asthma and started treating me for it. I almost could not breathe -- I had let it get bad. He put me on a short burst of prednisone (oral steroid) for the first time in my life, as well as asthma meds. The treatment helped tremendously -- I really feel it saved my life. He then focused on teaching me how to recognize my asthma triggers and symptoms, and self-manage it using various medications in a specific order depending on symptoms. I re-read their great manual/book for patients about care of asthma that they had given us when treating our kids. After I got better, Dr. G sent me for a bone density scan as a precaution (because prednisone can cause bone loss). It revealed significant idiopathic bone loss I would not otherwise have known about. I am now being treated for that bone loss elsewhere. I continue periodic monitoring and treatment for my asthma at the Asthma Center with Dr. Goldstein and am extremely grateful to him. (I have finished my course of allergy shots, which eliminated my cat allergy and again reduced my other allergies to a manageable level.) At my periodic check-ups, they perform breathing and other tests, and their care is thorough and supportive. I appreciate their focus on patient education and am glad they are there for me when I am unable to control my asthma on my own. They have helpfully and effectively treated not only my wife and our kids, but also my father, sister, and other extended family. I am so grateful to them. I recommend them highly. read more

As a chronically ill person with a very thorough primary care doctor, I spend a lot of time at specialists. The staff at this center are without a doubt some of the worst I've ever dealt with. I mean, they are rude and condescending at basically every level. I was refereed because of a breakout of hives yet they ignored my symptoms and continued to provided what I can only assume is their standard battery of tests for new patients. I was there for 3 hours and left with no idea as to why I might have had a breakout of hives but had unnecessary confirmation of that I do indeed have asthma. When following up because I had a delayed reaction, which presented as hives, to my allergy test I was told that I didn't need to be concerned and was told that I didn't need to call in the first place, it was normal and expected despite the person who administered the test telling me that I need to follow up. I will not be going back, despite the need to follow up. read more
