My mother, Barbara, was admitted to this rehabilitation facility after a fall that resulted in a head injury. What followed was a steady and heartbreaking decline due to what I believe was gross negligence and a lack of compassion from staff. Barbara was a vibrant, spunky woman who spoke her mind. But during her stay here, she became quiet, confused, and unable to finish her thoughts--nothing like the woman we knew. Repeated calls for help were ignored or significantly delayed. One day I waited 40 minutes after pressing the call button while nurses sat at the desk. I found her soaked through her bedding in the morning with no staff in sight. Her oxygen concentrator failed, and when I reported it to a nurse, I was told it "wasn't possible." Meanwhile, the emergency backup tank was also empty. Basic medical needs, like her Humira dose, were missed. I had to personally supply her medication because the staff failed to provide it in time. Eventually, her breathing became so labored I had to increase her oxygen myself while waiting for someone to take action. It wasn't until I pushed repeatedly that they finally agreed to order a chest X-ray. Throughout this, Barbara tried to express that something was wrong but couldn't communicate clearly--a heartbreaking shift from her usual self. During this time, I emphasized to staff that this was not her normal behavior. She was not passive or confused before entering this facility. And yet, no urgency was shown. Tragically, Barbara contracted Influenza A during her stay and passed away. She came to this facility for rehabilitation--to get better--not to be neglected. This place failed her. Failed us. And now we live with the consequences. I do not recommend trusting your loved ones to this facility. read more

My Mom is there for pt and ot. She gets neither. If my family is not with her, she gets NO help at all. I wish I was never lied to about this place from a Case worker. Your loved one will be ignored. Never showered or helped getting out or into bed. Left alone for hours with no water. Yes your loved one can ring for assistance but they will NOT get it. I have witnessed this myself. We have spoke to the nursing staff and gotten no where. This place is a joke, it should be closed down. If you do not care or hate someone than this is your place. If you want what is best for someone run as far as possible from The Atlantes! Dogs at shelters get better treatment. The pictures of the place and the food, nothing I have seen since my mom has been there. I wish we could have a do over because this place is horrible. read more

The staff here are the bottom of the barrel, no one else wanted to hire them employees. First shift nurse assaulted and berated my grandma. When confronted they said they would investigate and that didn't happen. The nurse is still there ( her name is Kaitlyn and she has long brown hair- I'd advise making sure she stays far away from your loved one). When my grandma had to go to the hospital for a surgery they attempted to feed her breakfast. Now I'm not a nurse but everyone knows if you are going to be put under than under NO circumstances are you to eat or drink for X amount of hours before you are sedated. THEN they sent her pills with her in the ambulance in an unlabeled paper cup. PS the staff at UC reported the facility to the board for this "mishap". They don't clean the rooms as they should. The custodian comes in and picks up here and there. There was a dirty towel in the room for over three days. And lastly the Director of nursing- is a complete liar. Do not believe anything she says. She fed me a BS story that she had talked to grandma about what happened (assault mentioned above) and it was a different story that I was told over the phone. When I asked my grandma to tell me what happened herself - the Director acted completely shocked and then turned on the "nice" and started bending over backwards for my grandma. Overall, if you care about your loved one at all, I would advise finding a better facility. read more

My wife, Nancy, was admitted to the Atlantes following three weeks at Mercy Anderson, with a diagnosis of pancreatitis, and a bad gall bladder. She had additional pain due to a bad right knee that would necessitate a right knee replacement later in the year, following a gall bladder removal. Due to earlier circumstances, she had not walked much in the last six months, so upon arriving at the Atlantes, could barely walk five feet, and showed some cognition impairment due to earlier stoppage of a critical medication that left her in a delusional state for about a week. The staff at the Atlantes were so caring, and focused with getting to know her personally, that she established trust with them right away. She loved the comfortable rooms with lovely art prints on the walls, the delicious meals focused on a heart healthy menu. The nurses were absolutely exceptional - Diane, Tammy, Carol, Toby, Robert and the others! Never before had Nancy had such care from the aides, Becky, Haley, and Lisa. Other outstanding team members were Sanford, Bethany and Stephanie. Linda and Duane were always professional and friendly whenever I came to visit. They were great with nicely making sure all guests met the standards for visiting the facility! Occupational and Physical Therapists were outstanding, too! They helped get Nancy back on her feet using a walker, and brought up her cognitive skills a measurable amount due to their tests and evaluations including word games, puzzles and interaction. I couldn't recommend a better facilty anywhere in the State of Ohio! I notice some reviewers call out a shortage of staff, but that is something all health care facilities are facing - whether rehabilitation facilities, hospitals, or retirement homes. Those at the Atlantas truly function as a team and help each other in carrying out their responsiblities to assist and heal the patients! read more

Nurses didn't change surgical bandage or remove band-aid style wound vac as instructed by surgeon for 5 days I was there. Lost Oxy RX and said couldn't get me an antibiotic Butting me at risk for infection in new hip. PT staff. Could be brutal causing set backs & pain. Food was good. Doors unlocked 24/7 no guards put all patient ask risk for theft and sexual predators zi moved to another rehab place as fast as I could read more

The staff at the Atlantes really cares for their patient. They were responsive and responsible. The food was good and they adapted to fill a gluten-free diet. The therapists were good and capable. This is a good place and they truly care. My husband left after 10 days, we appreciate everything they did to help him recover. read more

The care here is non-existent, at one time this was a good place, they are very short staffed, and do nothing to encourage the elderly patients to get up and do their physical therapy. We had a nurses aide by the name of Kaitlyn, who was very rough with our mother, and her excuse was that she just got aggravated and jerked her up a little hard, they did nothing to remedy the situation because they are so short staffed... my mother asked for a small bottle of Sutter home wine which the nurse approved of when I asked they administered it to her and now they are accusing her of sneaking alcohol into the nursing facility, like I said, it was one small bottle ( from the 4 packs) four or 5 ounces of wine that they got out of her fridge and brought it to her in bed, they told us that they would hold her room after surgery, and were very friendly after the incident, but now they have changed their tune, due to their abuse of a patient. My mom laid in bed all day no one moving her, had to stop in everyday to make sure they helped her up snd not left lying in bed all day. The day she was transported to UC a male nurse, who looked like he rarely bathed, asked me the daughter if he should give her her medication before transporting her, I told him I had no idea so he put it in a little plastic cup with tape over it and sent it UC , when they discovered unlabeled medication they said they could not give her that and said that they were going to report the nursing home for sending un labeled medication with a patient. Be very wary of using this place if you care about your loved ones. read more

Due to several Orthopedic surgeries, I have been to many rehab facilities. I chose the Atlantes because it was a rehab only facility, not a combination retirement home or Memory Care Center. The results were very positive. The staff was very polite competent and Timely. One of the best items about this facility is that you have therapy 7 days a week. And , as I can attest be mild too intense, based upon your progress and wishes. The facility was Immaculate, and the food service way above average. Based upon the staff from Medical, therapy, Administration , and others I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Food is not fresh or nutritious. Also, patients are not given an opportunity to eat with other residents. Aide yelled at my 83 year old father for snoring during the night. The nurses were great, their aides are atrocious. During the 4 days he stayed there before we transferred him to another facility, we met one aide who was sincere and showed empathy for the sick. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Nice looking place and friendly staff. But not enough of it girlfriend had a knee replacement and went here for rehab. She about half of the rehab sessions she was supposed to and never knew when they would be. As the other reviewer said. Meds were never on time and pain medication was treated as something you just wanted not needed. I know I rated it a two but that was based on how nice the staff was. I live several hours away from my mother and am unable to help in a quality way when she is in need. Otherwise, I would have. So I count on the paid businesses (and I call this place a business, not a resort, nor a healthcare facility) to be there when I cannot. My mother recently had knee replacement surgery. This facility knew she would be transferring there for her rehabilitation. She was not given her medication and was given every excuse in the book as to why THEY were not prepared. I understand that there are many people that abuse pain medication...and if THEY are any facility at all, they can look at records and see if their patients are chronic medication seekers. With that being said. My mom was transferred to the facility on a Saturday.....days after surgery. Her pain medication (mind you she had a knee replacement--go check out the surgery on youtube-it is painful to watch and to receive)...she was due her medication (pain) around 12:45....did not receive until 4:00 (excuse was pharmacy issues/seems like if the facility knew she was going to be there...they could have had their "ducks in a row". Due again 4 hours later for pain (again, I ask you to watch the surgery and all that the rehabilitation entails for such a surgery) and her blood thinner. Again excuses......she wound up leaving the facility and signed out around 9 pm and went home on her own accord. Called her doctor and they prescribed her the pain medication and blood thinner medication without any issues with the pharmacy and with no hesitation knowing this was a needed and necessary help for pain control and post-op reinforcement. It just breaks my heart to know that she was in pain. I understand that facilities such as this (especially this one after reading their website and finding it to be a "resort" so to speak....) would be better prepared, more compassionate and understanding of the post-op experience. As far as I am concerned...I would have given zero stars and much worse review. I will be spreading the experience to every social media site and all available review sites. Extremely unhappy. But then again there is truth to the old saying about businesses that are out to make money only. Zero stars and zero tolerance. I still believe there are good facilities out there that still run their health care facilities with compassion and preparedness. read more
