Very large open space with lots of room. Good menu choices. We chose the sampler and asked about how many it served. Had trouble with waiter understanding our question. We were two ladies and ordered anyway. OMG! The amount of food was almost gross. Definitely for 3-4 people. We loved the sausage, ribs, brisket but not the pulled pork. I loved this restaurant in the Roma Norte neighborhood. This area has the cutest cafes with nice courtyard seating. For breakfast they had alot of options and I went for the French toast and got a side of scrambled eggs. I love that the breakfast comes with juice and you can also order your own. I got a green juice too and a flat white. The service was good and they help you out even if you do not know much Spanish. It's a great spot to sit and have a slow morning on the weekend. read more

We were looking for something other than typical Mexican food and we found it! The food was delicious and the service was even better. We don't speak Spanish and our server spoke fluent English which was very helpful. It was clean and had a great atmosphere. I would definitely visit The Backyard again. We ventured here prior to our Day of the Dead festivities as it was only a few blocks away from the parade. For nearly our entire trip to CDMX, we were plagued by rain, but on this morning, the rain was holding off so we opted to sit in the Backyard's lovely outdoor space. It has great plant content, by the way! Since it was mid-morning, we stuck to brunch. I ordered a breakfast burger, delicious! The slabs of sliced meat were hearty! The most exciting part of my meal was my pumpkin spice latte. Please see my image for reference. They served it in a tiny pumpkin. I'm easily delighted, but this takes the cake. So adorable and even more than that, super warm and comforting. The staff was lovely and we ended our meal just as it began to rain, so perfect timing. read more

Wow. My friend recommended this place to me as a lunch spot close to our workspace. I saw that it was open before 1pm (kind of a rarity here as most lunch places only open at 1pm), so decided to check it out. The staff were very friendly and let me know that lunch was not being served yet, but that they were still doing breakfast. I got the chilaquiles and they came with brisket. Usually I'm kind of wary about ordering items with brisket, but this came out and it didn't look fatty at all. The brisket had a delicious smokiness and was actually the exact flavor I have been missing from my Midwest BBQ. The whole meal was VERY filling. Normally I need an afternoon snack, but this satisfied me until a 7pm dinner. Tip: They have wifi! The outside looks cute, but isn't open until lunch. read more

Their mocha is superb. Its flavor profile has just the right mix of espresso, chocolate, cinnamon, cream, and sweetness. Definitely more cinnamon than you'll find in your average mocha, and quite unique in that regard. Best chicken noodle soup, served in a teapot where it's steeped in fresh herbs. Breakfast sandwich with the eggs and brisket was also good. Their infused water was also good. Great seating inside or out. Every dish was prepared from scratch down to the homemade mustard. When we walked in they were preparing noodles by hand for the chicken noodle soup. We didn't order it this time around but will def try on our next visit. The brisket was a taste of home (TX) and truly hit the spot. The service was excellent and the bottle of house wine was delish. It's a nice cozy place, It was quite empty but it looks that at evening time is very popular... I was there for breakfast and the chilaquiles were very nice, I ordered them with no Brisket but my friend had it and he said it was very nice... good quality, good in price read more

Stumbled on this place our first night in CDMX bc of the super cool looking espresso machine and street facing bar stools. DELICIOUS espresso and great service. We came back the next day for brunch and were blown away by the quality of ingredients in our salads(tofu or something dressing was so good), soups and of course more espresso- affogato to be exact- and cheesecake in a jar which was heaven. I also got an iced green tea latte and it was made to perfection- saw the guy measure it all out, put it in a shaker and do his magic. If you're in the area, YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE! We will surely be back in our next trip to CDMX. read more

A hidden gem in the Roma neighborhood. The chef is trying hard (and succeeding) in delivering a differentiated offering with good flavors and a nice relaxed setting and ambiance. Good place to hang out with friends or family. Good and delicious offerings for vegetarians or carnivores. Will definitely return. read more
