I waited until the dust settled and all my refunds came in before I posted this review. My taxes were a mess after moving from Wisconsin to New Mexico in March of 2020. I had my own business, taxes to file in two states, an inheritance and zero confidence in my ability to navigate TurboTax and feel I had filed correctly. NEVER GOT MY TEXES DONE AND Misty or Missy I can't remember her name. charged me for 7 MONTHS and never did my taxes. She blamed it on her assistant and even admitted to never doing my taxes a week later. I have accumulated interest and penalties from the IRS because of her. She runs a very dirty office filled with smoke and papers everywher. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I hired her and she was very dishonest and stated she was on narcotics for months and that's "why I couldn't get your file completed." I am now in the middle of hiring a lawyer and trying to get all my money back. read more

Updated review: Our initial experience of gratitude for having "saved us a considerable amount of money" has been replaced with frustration and disappointment. The savings weren't the result of expertise we believed we were receiving at The Balance Sheet. They were due to our tax preparer inverting two numbers on our return. The difference was nearly $10,000 and has resulted in us having to pay another preparer to amend that year's return, refile, and pay the difference and penalties. So the balance sheet most certainly did not save us any money at all, they have cost us a considerable amount because of their careless mistake. Learn from our mistake-don't trust that your return is accurate from here unless you have double and triple checked it yourself. read more
