I have tried lots of different types of workouts, but had never really stuck to (or liked!) anything I tried, until I tried The Bar Method. Not only do I feel stronger than I've ever felt, I actually look forward to coming to class. The hour a day I spend at BMD is my "me" time where I am challenged and walk out feeling less stressed, accomplished and happier afterwards! It also helps that here you are surrounded by great people. From the first time I met the owners of BMD, Anna and Lara, you could just tell how genuinely passionate they are not only about the exercise, but even more so about this place they've built and the people that now fill it. All of the instructors challenge you to work as hard you can, but also care so much about making sure you're in the correct form, understanding what muscles you're working and why you're working them, and making you feel good about yourself and your form throughout class. Every instructor knows you by name and learns what works for your body to make you get the most out of each class! The BMD location is also such a calm, warm and friendly space, where you're always greeted by one of the sweetest front desk staff members! How lucky we are as a community to have Lara and Anna choose Darien to open their warm and welcoming Bar Method Studio. I have not been a regular at any gym ever. Though I have paid for them multiple times for years. I have been at Bar every week since they opened 3-4 times a week. Working full time with travel and kids I have found class times flexible to make it work for me. All the instructors take a personal interest in you. You are helped in every class with an adjustment or two. We all just took a abs workshop to make sure we better understand how the exercises work so we can get more out of it. Nothing is ever in a judgmental way. They meet you where you are and understand some days are better then others. I find its my one hour in my busy schedule that's just for me. Concentrating on the exercises lets me clear my mind of everything else better then any other exercise I have done. It works as mindfulness or meditation hour. With all of this you are in a beautiful space, ultra clean with all the amenities you need for showering or changing if you need it. I have been coming to The Bar Method Darien since it opened. I was a complete gym rat and not sure that I could get a good workout from The Bar Method. I was completely wrong! In a few short months I saw my body change completely. I now have long lean muscles, my core is stronger and my back pain is so much better. But it's not just the changes in my body that keep me coming back. Each day I walk out, I feel more confident and mentally stronger. I also feel like I have spent an hour with family. From your first day in the studio, each instructor makes you feel like you are a part of their family. It is the most welcoming and positive environment. The Bar Method Darien is fabulous. The owners are welcoming and encouraging, the staff is friendly and helpful, and every teacher is fantastic! The studio itself is bright and beautiful and the members are so sweet and encouraging. You immediately feel welcome. A big plus for me is that the teachers correct your form to make sure you do not get hurt. Lower back issues combined with a competitive nature has always put me in a position where I get hurt trying to keep up with the speed of a class which would cause me to compromise form. These classes always leave me feeling like a had such a deep toning workout without any injuries. I also cannot believe the definition I see now in my arms, legs and bottom! I've never really enjoyed working out...I would always try to get on a gym schedule - go for 2 weeks then stop. Ever since I signed up for the 45-day special at the bar method, I'm hooked. I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I love and actually enjoy it! I HIGHLY recommend it. It is the most welcoming environment. All of the instructors are so helpful during class, it makes you want to come back to improve yourself. It is definitely not as easy as it looks, it can be challenging, but it has become the best part of my day. I was very excited to know that Bar Method was coming to Darien this summer. I was a former Bar Method Soho participant so I was familiar with how hands on the instructors are - so I could not wait for the studio to open. I have not been disappointed! The instructors are very focused on form and know how to motivate the class members - they are lovely, funny and inspirational. The space is gorgeous - spa like. BMD is a great place to workout. The location in the center of town is very convenient and parking is plentiful, the studio is beautiful, spacious and clean. Lara and Anna (the owners) have made every effort to create a studio that is warm and welcoming. All five of the instructors are fabulous, making sure the clients are doing the exercises properly and guiding each of us to push ourselves to the next level. They pay close attention to detail when teaching the Bar Method. I have been taking barre classes for years and have been a Club Bar member now for a few months. Bar Method has give me my confidence back. Not only is it an amazing exercise that has slimed and toned my body, but it is a community of women that want nothing but good for one another. Yes it is expensive, but totally worth every penny. I have tried everything to get in shape and find inner peace and finally have found it with the Bar Method Darien studio. I've yo-yo'd with my weight post kids, bounced around from different exercise fad to another, and this is the only thing I've found that has challenged me on a consistent level while also delivering on results. I've been a club bar member for 3 months & I am absolutely in love with the bar method. It's a workout that challenges me but I still look forward to doing every day. I love all the positive changes in my body since starting with BMD. I'm stronger, more toned & even my posture has improved. Bar Method Darien is the only workout place I have ever looked forward to attending, and really miss it when I can't. The studio is welcoming, impeccably clean and well lit. The owners, Anna and Lara, are absolutely fantastic instructors, and I love that they can often be found participating in classes taught by Dina, Hayley and Andrea, so that it is easy to look over at them for examples of proper form. Buying the $200 unlimited monthly membership motivates me to go as often as possible, and keeps the per-class cost to a very reasonable amount. This is such a wonderful work out in a beautiful environment with warm/friendly instructors & owners. I have previously done the method exercise & know what a great work out this is - one that completely 100% can transform your body. I had to update my review from a few months ago, now that I am a full-fledged "Club Bar Member". Never has exercise been more fun and challenging. ALL the instructors are amazing, including Dina, whom I hadn't had the pleasure of knowing when I posted my earlier review. It's like "Cheers" at BMD, where everyone knows your name and you feel so welcome each time you enter the studio. It's hard work, but each instructor is motivating and inspirational. I needed a change and the gym just wasn't exciting for me anymore. I saw this new place in Darien and decided to take advantage of their new client, first month rate. Well after the 30 days I am hooked and have signed up! The staff are patient, motivating and make the classes fun. I was a regular visitor to my chiropractor due to my back & shoulders being tight. This studio, the teachers and front desk staff are all so incredibly bright and beautiful. When you walk in you are always welcomed by name and the work out is life changing. After 4 months of regular classes I am more than addicted. It is a way of life and has made me stronger and more confident as well as shaped my muscles in a way I never thought possible. The space is clean and beautiful and the ladies room with a shower/locker set-up is perfect for those pre-work work-outs. The best part though are the owners and the instructors. I have tried pretty much every type of exercise class at this point in my life. Most have left me with injuries. This barre method class is intense and works every muscle group in a safe and efficient way. The instructors are genuinely friendly and make sure your form is right to prevent those injuries.
