For starters, I am a pre-op trans man. I have gone to this place a couple times in the past but this visit however left a bitter taste. This is is the one time I had come in as a walk-in, asking for a haircut. I was asked "Do you want a men's haircut?" Which I thought was a strange question. I visibly have short hair and I am in their system from past visits "Because we don't really do.. other haircuts" This comment made me step back a little. It made me feel a little unwelcomed but proceeded to ask for times anyway. My boyfriend was with me, and we asked for "The Works" which from what I understand is a full service haircut. I come back for my time and do not recieve this. I get a normal cut and felt as if they wanted me out asap. I got the haircut I asked for, left and paid, but I don't think I'll be returning. read more

My son had a beautiful long hair, we asked for a shorter haircut but still long. I told this lady what I wanted, not only she cut it way to shor but no what we ask for. My son ended up with an uneven mushroom in his head. He doesn't live the house now. He is a teenager going to start HS. We have an appointment in another place in Tigard to get this fix. read more

Normally go the Barbers location in northwest Portland, I happened to need one out in this area. That being said the cut was average and the barber was friendly. Don't however expect them to pick up the phone in a timely manner at all, and if they do expect to be on hold for a ridiculous amount of time. Called the first time and was put on hold for ten minutes, second time five minutes. Called a third and let the phone ring for twenty minutes for the hell of it to see if they'd answer. They didn't. Can't think of a worse barber shop to go to. Don't bother making an appointment because they won't make themselves available at the scheduled appointment time. Staff don't bother checking you in and overall treated me like I was invisible and like my time and business was worthless. If you notice all the "good" reviews are from over 4 years ago.. Have been to this spot multiple times and both times they weren't available at the scheduled appt time. Would rather have a blindfolded monkey give me a haircut... at least the monkey would probably be on time. read more

Went into this location a few weeks ago - worst haircut of my life! Most of the people working here are fresh out of school & are only paid $11 bucks an hour. I guess you get what you pay for. I would avoid this location and find another shop in town. I asked for a particular cut and nobody had a clue how to do it. How did you graduate school and not have a clue how to cut hair? Hope this helps to save your money. Brooke was the barber who actually only has a basic beautician license not a barber license. I have not had a bad haircut at barbers Tualatin. I really appreciate the service,the kindness, attention to detail. Even when the cutters are buried, they take time with you making sure you get the right cut. My cuts are simple for any barber, but the neck shave, shampoo are the best. Tiffany is by far the best lady, and recently Nicole does great work if Tiffany is not available. Go there! read more

I called at 12:45 to get scheduled. Arrived there between 12:45 and 1:15. Sat until 1:45 and figured it would probably be another 10 to 15 minutes because the guy in front of me was being prepared for a neck shave. As I calmly put on my jacket and left, no one said anything to me. You would think they would have at least said something. The guy in front of me came in after I did. Honestly, I never hear anyone's name called. The last time I was in I wondered how they knew who was next and so I asked if I needed to sign a log or something when I arrived. I was told "no". Seems like there is room for improvement in communicating with customers. And waiting longer than a 1/2 hour, in addition to your 1/2 hour scheduled called in, is more than I have experienced at competitors. Way more! If you want something to read while waiting, bring your own. This location doesn't have anything. read more

I've been to the Tualatin outpost of "The Barbers" chain twice. Once for an OK cut and once for a disaster. Both times I was pressured to "sign in," though there was at most one other chair occupied and no one waiting. Sorry, but that's not how barber shops operate. I shouldn't have to put my name down on a ledger to get a haircut I'm paying for by cash. That should have been the first warning. The atmosphere: This place is not like a barber shop. It's more like a beauty salon tarted up to look "masculine." Bold colors. Steel diamond plate highlights. Sports on the TV. But it's really just a beauty salon - one unconvincingly pretending to be a barber shop. To the cuts: Cut 1, done by a 30-something woman. The cut was OK. About as expected. I didn't appreciate the pressure to accept a massage at the end. Just cut the hair, please. Cut 2, done by a 30-something man and corrected afterward, to the extent possible, by a 50-something woman. The cut was a disaster. I looked like an idiot for 2 weeks even after it was "corrected." I'd never seen a cut done in that method - using a razor with a really long offset guard rather than a comb. I should have been paying more attention, but at the end I couldn't believe the mess that was left. I was furious. So I shan't be going back to "The Barbers." I got into a discussion about that experience at another barber shop (a "real" one, you'll note, given the lower case "b"). It was at Swede's in Raleigh Hills. The barber I spoke with suggested that most likely, the person cutting my hair had not gone to a Barber School, but had instead gone to general hair styling school that teaches both womens' and mens' cuts. I haven't confirmed it, but he indicated there were no true Barber Schools left in Oregon. Regardless - if you like the beauty salon experience, want to pretend you're in a barber shop, and aren't particular about the way your hair comes out, by all means hike on down to Tualatin and go to "The Barbers." Otherwise, I'd advise looking elsewhere. read more

The Barbers is Th Place. I was more than pleasantly surprised with the staff, sports TVs, masculine theme, and pricing. I walked in getting a warm and flirtatious welcome from three great ladies. I was in a chair within minutes. The stylist listened to my desires of cut; she was friendly, talented, and speedy. So I get my hair cut every 2 weeks (must be a Marine thing) and this is the only place I go to. The ONLY reason I continue to go there is because of Brooke! She cuts hair better than any other barber I know. In fact I won't let anyone else cut my hair but her. I've been going to her for over two years now and can't say enough about her, she's friendly, funny and can cut a super great fade. I really love this place! I usually come here every week for a neck shave that is $2 and every 3-4 weeks for "The Works". A cut, shampoo and neck shave. This place always produces consistent results, has TVs with sports and cozy chairs. I do like the fact they use high quality clippers and seem to genuinely care about the way you look ( I have sort of a phobia of getting a bad haircut.... Childhood mushroom cut!!) I would recommend this place to anybody and the gals are nice and not flirty. Cheap and nice haircut for my friend. But the problem is, the time we waited is too long, at least 30mins. Also, no water available or not easily get when you sit in the waiting chair, kind of annoying when u have to wait so long. One interesting thing is, u could go and come back as long as you sign up and kind of letting the people working there know. So, u may expect to wait for 2 people in front of u when u come in, but actually 5 more could come back suddenly and u need to wait for more than 30 mins. No explanation from the people there unless you ask them and get the interesting fact above. Kind of frustrating, because u never know when it is your turn！！ Well, if we get back there again next time, be sure to sign up then go to Fred Meyer or have a meal and then come back without any need to wait in line again. read more

Finally someone who can cut my hair correctly. Thank you Dennis! I have straight, fine hair that I usually just let grow. A coupe of times a year I beat the boss to it and bite the bullet before I am asked. Mostly I have to try and explain what I'm after so between my lack of expertise in explaining and usually a lack of expertise in understanding, things don't go so well. I've never in my life been to a barber shop for one, for two, I've never had to get a little boys hair cut. I was nervous and hadn't a clue of what I was doing. But I also think to much into things, ANYWAYS the girls here were awesome, especially the girl at the first chair closest to the door, she was super nice and made me feel at ease. My step son is 5 and I was nervous he would be a mess but Andrea was great with him and he was done in no time. Apparently doesn't like to cut women's hair. My boyfriend needed his hair cut, last male barber said women are welcome too and they always give him a great undercut. I came in with him just for a trim, long hair, but 4 men that came in after me were helped first... Told I had to wait for the one gal that does women's hair, out of about 7 barbers on shift.
