I came in and waited for someone to greet me. There was no one to be found! Instead, I heard two girls chatting about their day. I waited for 5 minutes. And When the wax aesthetician came out with the client, I was completely ignored even though I was right next to them. I thought she would say something to me since you know I was right next to the check out table where she sat. But nope, nothing. Her client left after checking out and I thought it was finally the time when I would get acknowledged! Nope, she immediately left to talk to her coworker somewhere else. I've been back once already for a second lash perm and I have my third appointment booked for next week. The lash perm lasts even longer than I thought. I wait almost 8 weeks between perms! Yes, by then it is quite a bit less curly...but still not as straight as they are naturally, they have a nice little flip at the ends. This is my 3rd time getting a Brazilian but first time with Robin at Bare Betty. The end result was fantastic but do yourself a favor and don't come if you're fully grown out and/or pregnant. It will hurt a lot even if she tries to be gentle. She was very professional and thorough. At first I wasn't sure why she allotted 45 minutes but she did take the entire time, maybe even more. She alternated between soft and hard wax depending on the area, purpose, and pain level. The facility is super clean. You're in a private room that's sort of in the front but no one else should be around. She gives you a cleansing wipe to start out with, you undress, she does her work, she applies calming cream, you dress, and that's it! She doesn't rush you and the experience is as easy as pulling hairs out can be. read more

I was referred to Robin after my Brazilian appointment was cancelled right before a trip. I was extremely nervous at first but immediately felt at ease when I met Robin. Her space is super cute, clean and organized. My appointment was longer than anticipated but I know why. Robin is meticulous and very gentle. I always dread my waxes due to the pain however this waxing experience was so different. At first I was cynical at the thought of a "gentle" waxing session but in all honesty, this was the least painful waxing experience! Went in last week for the first time to Bare Betty. Its tucked away next to The Village shopping area in Castro Valley, kind of like a hidden gem -- if you will. Driving into the private parking lot, signs of other businesses surround it but walk through the court yard and off to the left you'll see the entrance. Upon entering the shop, there is a set up to be greeter by a receptionist but instead i was welcomed by the esthetician and owner of the shop, Robin. Robin is a very warm and friendly person, showed me around the shop which is a very trendy decorated space with a waiting room for all her clients who come in for either lash extensions or waxing services. *by the way, there are two lash technicians available for appointments Robin then directed me towards her wax room. The room has an elevated bed for clients to lay on while receiving their wax services. very sanitary comfortable and with a heating pad to keep the body nice an cozy. Off to the right of the bed, each piece of equipment Robin uses it out and displayed on a dresser center piece and it is all organized and clean. She does NOT DOUBLE DIP. She uses a combination of soft and hard wax during the service, uses an ice pack in between strips when applicable and her clients receive a nice hot towel to freshen up and wipe down at their discretion. During my visit, Robin briefly explained her background and experience. She told me that she wants her shop to be a place for women, which it very much is. its comfortable and intimate, kind of like a "girls night out" vibe. Robin is just really a cool person and hospitable. She even gave me a free sample of a freshly made sugar scrub to use on my skin. overall, my experience with Robin was nothing short of professional and friendly, I will become a regular at Bare Betty soon. read more
