I timidly approached the racks and realized that this truly is a Clearance Center from a price perspective - the markdowns are astronomical! I saw someone else say that it was worth the two hour drive, so I decided to tempt fate and cross my fingers that it would be just as good for me. Over $700 later, I left with gifts for nearly everyone in my life (including myself!). The highlight of the place is the women's dress section. It's huge and dresses for EVERY occasion. The amount of sequins in this place is unreal. The men's section is also enormous, as is the women's (non-dress) section, including a great plus-size variety. The shoe clearance section was all women's; there was another shoe dept but I never made it over there. The most underwhelming area was the kids department, and specifically the boys section. The girls section was decent, but the boys was crazy sparse. The baby department had a fairly good selection. The main focus here is ABSOLUTELY clothing, but there are some home goods. If you're making the visit, make sure you walk the whole store and aim for clothing!

We went in person and they said it wasn't until January 30th it would go on sale. So we called on the 1st of February 2026 and they said no that it's a Kay's signature cross so you won't get the sale price. The MANAGER Sheri Ayres and her male young coworker both were there both times and both said she would get the sale price. They will do anything to get you to purchase something. So disappointed and we will never go back.

To my surprise this mall was super dead for that time and day. It's like nobody lives in this town. Any who, the less people, the faster the shopping experience is. This small shopping center hosts standard mall-stores (A&E, B&BW, The Children's Place, Finish Line, Game Stop, GNC, KJ, Payless, Spencer's, VS, Zales., amongst others). We stopped at the meat truck to buy the 20 ribeye's for $39 bucks as advertised, as simple as that. Instead, the guy tries to upsell all of these different meat packages for $100's of dollars. He's tries to push the biggest one the most for about $450. Then when he's sees you're not taking the bait on any of these different packages he starts dropping the prices. It's a fast paced hard sell for about 10-15 mins ‍ Nothing we were interested in. We kept shaking our heads no at every one of them and saying no. He doesn't give up until you say NO about 10 times. Almost like dealing with a telemarketer over the phone except you're in person. Let us buy the ribeye's the first day you're here and try them. If they're good we'll be back before the last day you're here and maybe buy something else. Unfortunately after trying them even with tenderizing they were still tough to us. We'll just grind them up and use them for burgers. Finally, my wife and I both said, we're here for just the 20 ribeye's for $39 bucks. Like on a July 4th weekend like we did... 90+ degrees on the Saturday we stopped by Mississippi Marketplace. It's a large space and only one small closed off section has AC. They do run large fans throughout the space and offer free complimentary bottles of water. I could feel sweat start to bead up on me within a couple of minutes of walking in and it didn't get much better... Basically the space is a large open machine shed with rows of vendor booths. The row layout is aimilar to many other antique/vendor malls. With no lower ceiling the power bill to run AC to cool the place down would probably be a small fortune... My best guess is it's an even split between antique or vintage items and modern new items. I got a couple of great deals here... An old vintage fire extinquisher. Cleaned up these go for $250 online. The vendor had it priced at $70 and was running a 50% sale. So $35... I can put some elbow grease into it... It will be a great addition to my collection. A rough 12 inch vintage Wagner cast iron pan for $20. It's worth that all day long. I'll strip it and reseason it. The staff here is fantastic! Great interactions with them! There are some locked cases you will need them to access, but the vast majority of items can just be picked up and taken to the front. Definitely worth the time to stop! But I'll reinterate... If you don't deal with heat well plan this visit on a nicer day than we did...!

The building is loaded with individually owned, displayed and priced units. Some of them are time frames, some of them are theme booths while others are hodgepodge. It's no wonder Iowa City's pedestrian mall is thriving as it boasts amazing locally owned eateries, shops and businesses. I adore the attention to detail with painted benches, amazing murals and the ICDD consistently bringing art installations to the Ped Mall. Additionally, there is a nice new accessible playground in the middle, along with a great stage area. There is shade, plenty of seating-- it is great for people watching!

The first few times just to browse, but the last couple of times for specific items (air mattress for example). You'll find something different each time you visit. It's like treasure hunting to dig through some of the shelves. I scored some limited edition Method brand hand soap on my first visit. Snagged as many as I could and paid less than half of what I would have at Target. Yes, I get excited about hand soap. A great place to go if you need guest items - I stock up on toothbrushes, body washes, things like that. They have non-perishable food/pantry items. No fresh food. Great place for baking supplies, spices, cereal, shelf-stable items if you aren't really picky about brand names. I would love to see the pet merchandise expanded upon, but they do have an aisles worth right now. Lots of things for the home like rugs, sheets, pillows, towels. Several aisles of toys and a huge area dedicated bargain books. Kitchen, automotive, electronics, office supplies, and seasonal also. While I love a bargain, some of the items at Ollie's are not. We did find an air mattress at Ollie's, but it was much less expensive to get one from Walmart. While their books are 'bargain' prices, I'm not sure they're less expensive than the big box stores. The price tags all have an 'ours' and 'theirs' price. Sometimes there isn't much of difference. I noticed this when buying Halloween candy. I signed up for their rewards program - Ollie's Army. It's easy join and use and you get a coupon for joining. Sign up for their weekly emails, too. The company did a really nice job upgrading the outside of the storefront and appear to be maintaining the parking lot. Customer service has always been above average when we've visited. If you need assistance with something, there are plenty of employees available. Grab a shopping cart - you'll need it!
