I have never given a negative review but I feel compelled to on this one. I purchased a $50.00 6 inch cake for my grandsons birthday. It looked great but it was the driest crunchy, tasteless cake I have ever had. My grandson who loves ALL cakes only ate the frosting. We had to throw it away. We contacted the store several times asking to speak with a manager or owner. We thought perhaps this was just a one time error... maybe overbaked or they used a frozen cake. But no one will return our call. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THE CAKE AND EVEN MORE SO IN THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I can not recommend this bakery. read more

We ordered cakes for my wife's BD party weeks in advance, paid over $200 for cakes and cupcakes. We went to pick up the cakes and nothing was done as we asked, everything was just so plain and not even done anywhere close to what had been ordered. Luckily we found another bakery and they fixed a cake just as we wanted, decorations were great, cake was delicious. We ended putting Batter Up cake in the fridge, no one ate it and eventually just threw it out. Heard good things about Batter Up, but apparently the owners were gone and letting some newbie handle the order, who didn't have a clue what they were doing, in addition the customer service was horrible, thinking the owners should stick around and have some more quality control. I made a Yelp account to specifically write a review for this bakery because I would hate for anyone else to have the experience my family did. Our 1st experience with this bakery was good, my sister ordered a few dozen cupcakes for a meet and greet back in August. The order was fine, cupcakes were tasty and had the oreos and strawberries on top like we expected. We thought they were a bit overpriced but didn't have a problem paying that much because you get what you pay for right? Well not necessarily because the 2nd time we put an order in, the cupcakes did not have the strawberries and oreos on top like my sister ordered and the cake was plain and unacceptable. They waited for them to "fix it". But c'mon who really has time to be waiting around for something that should have already been done, especially if you have other errands to run for the event you're getting ready for. Also, we did not read the fine print on the recepit (yes that's our fault) that states once you sign off on a custom order after inspection you can not get a refund. But the person working clearly seen the people picking up the cake were not happy customers so they could have at least mentioned that a refund or store credit could have been an option. If you have placed an order/ orders with them and were satisfied don't count on it happening again because in our experience consistency is not one of their qualities and if you're thinking about ordering from them good luck and hopefully you get whoever knows what is acceptable and what isn't. We were planning on making this our go-to bakery because we are always having family get togethers and parties but we will no longer step foot in this establishment. read more

My 8 year old daughter could of done better. Our family trusted this bakery because of their reviews and the cake was absolutely terrible. I was promised great customer service and they produced. This however is where the positive ended. I ordered a tres leche cake and it wasn't good, the decoration looked like something from a supermarket and I was told it would have whipped cream for icing, tasted more like whipped topping. Tres leches typically is a very moist cake, this was dry and tasted nothing like tres leches...very disappointed. They gave me a couple of cheesecake tarts that were plainly old and all dried out tart shell...like black and whites?...don't get them here, besides being small they are made from cookies not cake and the icing was tasteless. Stopped by this lovely bakery on my way back from Oceanside. The establishment was spotless and quite upscale. The staff was very friendly and were both attentive, yet patient while I drooled over the beautifully prepared delicacies. I chose the expresso brownie. It was delicious. I have also had the pleasure of tasting a few of their cakes, they too were yummy! I even saw them at Los Angeles Coliseum during a recent Ram's game selling there wonderful pastries and other item. We used Batter Up Bakery for my daughters 21st Birthday before COVID-19. The customer service was outstanding and the baker went out of her way to make a Great Gatsby themed cake and cupcake design. The baker even offered some speciality cupcake flavors like s'mores, strawberry shortcake and double chocolate. Fast forward to June 2021. We decided to use batter up bakery for my daughters college graduation. The girl who greeted us was more annoyed than happy to help us. We inquired about flavors and she responded with, " we have two flavors, chocolate or vanilla, there are no specialty flavors for orders!" We were surprised because they were so good about offering up special flavors before but decided to play along. We inquired about possibly doing a color for the top of the cupcake or a design of some type and she said, "We don't do any type of decorations!" . I explained we had used them in the past and they did a beautiful job on our last cupcakes with a Great Gatsby theme and she simply replied, "we don't do that anymore" we then inquired about pricing. A dozen plain chocolate cupcakes, no decorations, $48.50! We paid $24.50 with our last order, decorated with specialty flavors! Order time for 3 dozen, 2-3 weeks out as well! We left and ended up placing an order with Nothing Bundt cakes. 1/2 the cost, we could choose all 6 flavors offered and decorations were not extra. The front counter even encouraged us to sample some of their flavors, made suggestions for us, walked us through their catalog and was happy to include anything extra! We left feeling like our order mattered. I have been a resident of Temecula for over 17 years and look for small businesses to support but honestly we will not use Batter Up Bakery again. read more

We we're told to try the 7 layer bar (Darnell bar ) heaven!! I didn't share. Coconut chocolate chewy goodness. I'll be buying this again. My boyfriend got the carrot cake. He said it was the best he has ever had. I couldn't agree more. Red velvet slice was amazing. Not too sweet but you could taste the different flavors, without the over powering frosting! I can tell that these are home made recipes and SO FRESH ! They also have a card where they stamp like 10 times and you get something after for free. Lisa sat us down asked us what we had in mind. Our request was a little different than usual because we want a rounded spherical cake and we were concerned the price would be out of our budget. We purchased our 2 tier wedding cake and bites sized desserts from The Batter Up Bakery for our wedding in October 2018. Our cake flavors were lemon for the smaller tier and strawberry shortcake for the bottom tier. Our bite sized desserts included mini cannoli's, mini brownies, mini cheesecakes and mini creme brulee. The staff were very friendly when we came in to try samples and we were able to try 3+ flavors. We had 140 guests and the bite sized desserts were gone before dinner even started! The baker even told us we could get an one year anniversary cake! They delivered the dessert and cake for us for a fee but it was minor for the convenience. Highly recommend! read more
