You could pull a wagon over it, but I decided to carry my toddler son instead of using a stroller . It was easy to walk the path from the parking lot. You have to use the QR code on the sign by the entrance to pay for parking, $3. There was parking spots, but it does fill up quickly, even at 11 am on a Wednesday. The beach was open and very few people around. Mostly people walking the beach or fishing, but my son and I had the beach to ourselves for the most part. It was a nice day, and we had fun putting our feet in the water and sitting on the sand. I know the driftwood is popular for family pictures, and there is plenty of it. I highly recommend this beach and the short trail to it.

I always carry protection when going to this park but after a strange man took pictures of his surroundings and said "I'll see you later" to me as he left I will not be returning. I wish they would send a cop to keep it cleaned up or had a better solution. Luckily the city's park crewmen were there and he seemed to scare off at them. The trees and walking path are beautiful but, something has to change :(

Overall, the park is just kind of covered in trash. I have not been able to find a halfway decent park since moving to the Jacksonville area. I do have to say there's a lot of shade here which is nice other than that it's not great there's two small play structures, but would be a pretty good spot for riding scooters.

As you drive into San Mateo through the main entrance, the "Welcome to San Mateo" sign will greet…read moreyou. That's where this little park is. The park is circular... meaning you can drive completely around it. There is not parking lot, so you'll have to parallel park on the street. Most people who use this quaint park live within walking distance. There's no playground for kids or swings or anything of that nature, but it's a good little area for them to just run around and play on their own; however, this is the entrance to the neighborhood, so cars are constantly flying by here. Unfortunately, not many of the people obey the speed limit and very few even bother to obey the stop sign. Make sure you do keep a good eye on your kids so they don't run out into the street. There are a ton of trees here, so it's nice and shaded. That's a plus since we do live in Florida and that sun is HOT! This is a good area to walk your dog, but please be courteous and pick up after your fur baby. There is a nice covered area with a picnic table. There are also a few benches here and there. Honestly, I do just mostly see adults here walking their dogs. If you're looking to have a picnic and a place for the kids to play and run around without having to dodge cars, you may want to considering heading down the street to the San Mateo Neighborhood Park.

Neptune Beach has so much to offer. Obviously you can hang out on the beach, but it's what's close…read moreto the beach that brings me back. So many restaurants and shops to choose from it is hard to pick a favorite. You must check out the Lemon Bar, which is an outdoor venue with a beach view. The Lemon Bar offers live music, drinks and food. Next is Pete's, the oldest bar in the area. It's divey vibe is a must for locals. If you like to play pool, this is your spot. Next is Island Girl, offering many types/flavors of cigars and draft beer. Sliders Oyster Bar is another local favorite offering food and drinks. Across the street and on the beach is the Seahorse Inn. This is the best spot to stay at the beach on a budget and is in the center of all the fun. The only downside is parking. There are two pay lots and street parking, which use to be free but now you pay at the machine. Be careful not to park in lots with towing signs (if you see not visiting the specified businesses).

We had to use our GSP to find bc it is well hidden. Once here I was surprised all that it had to offer! They had a well constructed community center though closed now, , I guess you can read it?!I They had basketball courts, lots of pickleball courts (all being used), swings/monkey bars, etc, big multi-purpose field which our pack of 8 year old boys and girls were playing kick ball in and loving it. There is green space too where we had sack races, tug of war....you reserve (or rent) a pavilion where we had our food, drinks, cake etc. Like I said it's a very nice park and well used. One thing was the restrooms, they could be updated.
