Water parks near me in the Philly area are usually huge, with major traffic, and thereby annoying and gross! I was so relieved to find Summer Waves offers a smaller, cleaner, more-personal, less-dangerous water park experience. We found it to be exactly that. Though Jekyll is close to a tropical climate, the water park is only open in warmer months (May-Sept). Inclement weather is an issue in their part of the country at that time of year. At least a month of the time Summer Waves is open is hurricane season. There are clear rain policy rules, which kinda stink but are for everyone's safety. One day we called to verify they were open only to show up TEN MINUTES LATER and be turned away at the gate due to thunderstorms. Luckily we were staying 5min away but can you imagine driving farther? And paying $10 island toll for that? The next day weather was great and my husband and son had a ball. They'd planned to stay 2 hours but lasted 6! My 7yo was a little intimidated by the enclosed taller slides but he got over it after trying them and they covered every attraction in the park except the baby/toddler stuff. They did the lazy river over and over! I saw pictures/reviews of the traffic and chaos in July, wow! Go in late August (when local kids are back to school and the park is only open weekends) and it's perfect! They waited 5min at most, and that happened once. It was just step up and go! It's not huge but it's up-to-date, clean, uncrowded at the right times, and very reasonably priced under $30pp. No bugs (Jekyll has a huge dragonfly population to rid pesty bugs), good breeze on most days. Make sure to reapply sunscreen. My son got burnt for the first time in his life despite full application of spf 25 (which kept him white as a sheet for weeks prior on Jekyll's beaches), but the park uses salt water and is very exposed to the sun so take heed. My family and I went here for the first time and had so much fun. My kids are ages 6-17 and there was something for everyone. It's not a huge water park but I feel like it's big enough to have a good time. I wish there was something they could do about the wasp problem. It's terrifying being stuck in line at the top of a narrow structure surrounded by wasps. Other than that it's a good time. read more

Highly suggest purchasing tickets online, and getting here before the park opens, or after 2pm if you want a close parking spot. The $10 "parking fee" is the toll to get on Jekyll Island. The toll line was backed up about 25 minutes when we arrived around noon, on a Saturday, last weekend. Once we got to the park. The parking lot was full, and full of chaos. We ended up having to park outside of the park along the main road then walk to the entrance. Once we got through bag check. We walked right up to have our tickets scanned. There were two long lines for folks purchasing their tickets at the counter. Actual park experience. Lots of activities for the kids that we brought ranging from 8-10. Lazy river, wave pool, 9ish water slides, kid splash pad... Pretty much what you would expect at a water park. The pavement was HOT. Bring water shoes, or wear slides. Luckily we brought water shoes and was told to take them off before going down the slide. Otherwise it can be purchased at the gift shop for around $20, or more. Each larger slide has a height limit. Please don't be like that one couple with the little girl that wanted the associate's name because their daughter was too short to go down the slide. They have a sign where you can check your little one's height before getting in line. Coolers and wagons are allowed. Snacks and Water - At least that's what we brought. There's a Larry's Giant Sub that is priced just about what you would pay outside of the park. Menu is limited though. The ice cream, pretzel, shaved ice was marked up kind of high. If you want to pack your own lunch and leave it in the vehicle. They do allow re-entry by simply putting a stamp on your hand at the exit. They do have picnic tables covered by trees on the south side of the parking lot. The entire park only has one restroom. That's near the front entrance. So if you have to pee... read more

I recommend this place for the kids because we don't have very many things for them to do. The pricing is kinda high unless you do a seasonal pass, but the season passes don't make sense with their buddy passes cause now they charge the same price for their buddy passes as you would normally pay. Went here yesterday for a day of fun with the kids. Here are a few things to be aware of prior to your trip. 1. It costs $8 to get onto Jekyll Island. You have to pay this fee to get into the island and it is independent of your fees for the park. 2. You can buy electronic tickets ahead of time, they recommend doing this and it definitely saves a lot of time since there is only one purchase window for tickets. 3. You cannot bring outside food and drink in but you can bring in bottled water. But you can get a hand stamp to go to car and grab a snack or hang out during inclement weather. Upon arriving at the park, you can rent a locker which links to a wrist band you wear so there is no need to keep up with a key. Lockers come in small, medium and large. A medium will hold a bag of clothes and shoes for 5 people. The park has four different slides, a wave pool, a lazy River, and a kids play area. The activities are broken into three sizes, below 42 inches, under 48 inches and over 48 inches in height. The bigger the ride, the bigger your kids will need to be. The park has a lot of seating and some of it is shaded. A lot of people leave their towels on a seat and then go enjoy the park. I would recommend some sort of sandal or water shoe as there is minimal shade around the rides and the concrete gets really hot but you may be required to take them off for some of the rides. Lastly, be advised that the park closes for lightning and will not re-open until there has been no lightning for a half hour. You can wait in the park or in your car. If it Is closed for over 90 minutes, you can go to the desk for a ticket to attend on another day (your choice) throughout the end of the year. We've been coming here for multiple years as part of our yearly summer vacation in the Golden islands and always had a great time. This year (Aug 9 2025) we brought my parents - my mom is handicapped from a stroke and requires a lot of assistance from my dad... including in the bathroom. As we left after a great day - and the park is pretty decent overall for someone on a wheelchair - we had a very ugly incident with a member of staff who humiliated my parents as they went to use the bathroom. While my dad didn't realize it was a single sex changing room plus bathroom, they yelled at my parents, tried to have my mom (who can't stand on her own and is visibly infirm on one side of her body with obvious stroke effects) use the facility herself and then, upon realizing that she was profoundly handicapped, tried to backtrack. At that point the damage was done and we just left, thoroughly humiliated. My little kids watched their grandmother cry in the parking lot. It was a horrible ending to a really nice family day. While we appreciate there was an issue with the changing room, the very public and very nasty treatment of an elderly man and his disabled wife was just terrible, especially given the really nasty treatment they got coupled with the half hearted turnaround at the end. We won't be back ever with my parents and don't recommend anyone with disabilities who can't handle the bathroom on their own visit Summer Waves. For this reason, we have to award only 1 star this year. A shame all around. read more

Located on Jekyll island Summer Waves is the perfect day getaway. We've come here twice now and it's a perfect place to take the family on a warm Georgia summer day. Filled with laughter and lots of fun for all ages. There's a nice wave pool, a lazy river, a toddler water park section and some slides so everybody gets to have a good time. Both times we've come we've always noticed that compared to many other water parks it's just never been too crowded here, we always find chairs for the whole family and the lines to get on the slides do not take long. Prices aren't bad and if you're military they offer a nice military discount as well. The park is kept extremely clean as well. The only downside is they do not allow any outside food however water bottles are ok. But there are plenty of food options inside the park as well. read more

Well I just looked on another site and it said that on Saturdays they are closed ? So I'm confused ? Me and my family were pretty bummed about them being closed . I loooovvveee Summer Waves. We go there every summer with 4-H and always have a blast. There are so many options. I love Larry's Giant Subs. Other than the Dippin Dot prices its great! Not to mention, there are options for younger kids too! I love it so much and would recommend almost everyday. It may look small but what till you get inside! So my family and I took a little adventure north to Summer Waves Waterpark located on the beautiful island of Jekyll Island, Ga. I had known about this place for awhile just never crossed my mind to go. I came across a deal on LivingSocial.com for discount tickets to the water park and decided to take in what the park had to offer. I had a day off and it being summer the kids weren't in school. So we drove a little over an hour to Jekyll Island. We are so glad we decided to go. The trip was definitely worth it. We got there just as the park was opening (10am) The place is easy to find using GPS or just remembering. Not too many roads to travel on plus the park is easy to see coming in from the highway. Once you park you make your way to the ticket booth. Like I said earlier we used discounted voucher tickets we found on livingsocial site. The fee at the park is 20 dollars. The voucher was a deal for 12 dollars for adults, which is a great in savings. Our two year old was free b/c 3 and under are free with an approved swimming diaper. We also paid for usage of a locker. (Sidenote: You get 5 dollar refund when you bring back your locker key with your receipt when you are leaving the park.) Now, the park is really small and has only 7 rides. Yes I said seven. Now that being said, if you go in with that set in mind you will have a great time. Even with a parking lot full of cars the park still didn't feel packed nor cramped. The thrill rides still had a decent wait but those lines went with ease. The kids loved their play areas. They had a kiddie pool area and area called the splash zone. If you take a look at the pictures you can get a pretty good idea of what the areas entail. The boys especially loved the kiddie slide. It was cool seeing the kids have their own special slide. There are lifeguards at both ends of the slide. Even my two year old got to use it. The splash zone was nice. Every two minutes a bell goes off signaling the big bucket of water will topple over. It was fun standing under and having gallons upon gallons of water fall on you. Another good thing was the food. Larry's Subs is their main supplier of food. They have a good size for menu for adults and kids. They have the usual as most Larry's restaurant. Sandwiches, chips & drinks. They also have other smaller different eating spots with beverages, nachos, pretzels, and ice cream. As for the rest of the park. I found it to be clean and on occasion you see them taking out trash and keeping litter off the park grounds. I walked around barefoot for the most part and didn't step on anything awkward. (Another sidenote: It's summertime & it's Florida. The pavement does get hot & there is a lot of pavement so wear some flips flops or some aqua shoes.) There is a lot of seating and beach chairs for you ladies and gentleman to get your tan on while the kids play away. They also have some shade if you want to stay cool and relax. All in all, the park is great for family. Especially family with small kids. The young teens will like it too. But you know how teens are. Now is the park worth the full price. If we had paid full price it would have been 70 dollars for the 4 of us. But with the deal it moved it down to 50 dollars. 20 dollars does make a difference, and I felt better paying that then paying the full amount. With the boys being at the age they are (4 & 2), it was worth it. They loved every minute of it and I as a parent would pay just about anything to see my boys happy and experiencing something new! The family had a fun time here. We purchased discounted tickets off Living Social and it was worth the money. The kids enjoyed going here and the beach later in the same day. It was a week day and it had rained earlier in the day so the park wasn't very busy. My wife and I enjoyed floating in the lazy river and went around about 3 times before we deciding to take a break. The kids kept going from water slide to water slide going down some with tubes and some just like a regular water slide. The kids smiled for a couple of hours straight which was really great. Very clean with a brand new feel to it. The staff is a bunch of high school and college aged kids working a summer job. No wi-fi or very little of it on all of Jekyll Island. Make your plans before arriving on the Island. It was a fun afternoon and well worth the trip. read more

From the outside, it looks like a hole in the wall water park. However, once you get in, it's a load of fun! Our five and seven year old loved it! Plenty to do for the day. The Larry's Giant Subs that was in the park was so good! The bread was extremely fresh along with the meat. Got a Living Social deal for the family which was a fun Sunday activity. Spent about 4+ hours there. It's a small water park but it's manageable since it's a 2 minute walk to get from one activity to the next. The slide lines weren't too bad with attendants at the start and end of the slides. It was a bit crowded in the wave pool and lazy river but bearable. The attendants should probably take out the excess floats in the lazy river. FOOD: - Inside: Larrys giant subs, nachos, dipping dots, pretzels. - Nearby: Dairy Queen is also close by; it's on the way to the water park, after the Jekyll Island bridge and a couple minutes before the entrance to the water park. PARKING: it's very close by the entrance. As I was waiting on the steps for the slides, I noticed some parking by the picnic tables outside the entrance which looked like people claimed their picnic spots. TIPS: Bring a waterproof bag for cell phone and keys, random sprinkles of rain is common in this area. Our towels were soaked despite being in a shaded spot but my cell phone & keys were good. I'm so glad I left our change of clothes in the car otherwise those would have been soaked too! Keep extra towels in the car in case you get caught in a downpour too! You can probably leave arm floats/vests at home, there's life jackets available for various weight ranges. Tubes are available in two sizes - adult & kid-sized. read more

Went to the water park with my mother who is 70+ years of age, my daughter, and my niece and decided to rent a Cabana to take advantage of shade, couch seating, refrigerator with refreshments, ceiling fan, privacy and charging stations. The cabanas were the newer ones which accommodate up to eight people. The Cabana cost $125 plus general admission. My problem was that there was no one checking the Cabana wrist bands so the party next to our Cabana had 16-20+ people back and forth all day...the cabanas accommodate 8 and only eight wristbands are issued per Cabana. People were reaching across into our Cabana to plug in there cell phones! There is a staff member who was posted at the entrance to the cabanas in a nice little structure who never once asked to see anyones wrist band as they walked past her, back and forth, all day to enter the cabana area. The park itself was great and alot of fun. We just never felt comfortable leaving our property and Cabana unattended with so many people without wristbands walkin back and forth and partying in the Cabana next to ours! If the water park is going to charge a premium for the added functionality, comfort and privacy of a private Cabana they should absolutely enforce the rules! It was ridiculous how many people were in that Cabana next too us at one time in addition to the back and forth. Frustrated. Why bother issue wristbands and charge extra?!? read more

Small hidden water park still packs a punch, doesn't look like much from a distance. Once you get in there's a good mixture of slides, 2 toddler play areas, a lazy river and a wave pool. Life guards and attendants are vigilant and quick to address bad behavior. We went early in the season so some schools are still in session and summer camps are just getting started. No wait lines, it was pretty amazing just walk up and slide. The wave pool is my favorite, both my son and I can stay in it all day. There's a Larrys sub and other shacks that provide slushes, ice cream, soda (10.99 souvenir refillable cup, refills are 1.00) dipping dots. They let you re-enter with a stamp. I packed a picnic lunch so we went to the car to eat. There is a picnic area in the back with tables. I like to use my captains chairs and sit under the trees. They offer lockers to keep your items safe $10 for a small and $12 for a large. When you return your key and present your receipt and the end of your day, you get $2 back. Be prepared to pay a fee to get on the island $6 small car, $8 oversized vehicles. read more

Went with the family a few times and enjoyed our visit each time. The water park is not large, but they have a few adventure rides that we really enjoyed. They also have a lazy river, and the big wave. The employees did a great job of making sure everyone was safe and followed protocol. The park is situated on Jekyll Island, so the first time I went I was surprised to see the park literally pop up out of nowhere. As with any theme park if you can eat a light meal before going, great...the prices of food & drinks are pretty much the same at any theme park....over priced. Summer Waves has become a summer tradition. It's always at the top of the list for my kids! It's on the top of my list too. Summer Waves is a smaller water park than what you'd find in Orlando but it's a fraction of the cost. I was able to get a Groupon for $16 a person for the entire day which was 10 am to 6 pm. The park has a wave pool, lazy river, two little kids areas, 6 large water slides, volleyball court, and a Larry's Giant Sub. One of the little kids area is new and it's incredible! Even my 8 year olds had fun playing on it. The bigger water slides are clearly marked for "thrill level". We tried them all and loved them! The thing that keeps us coming back is that if you go during the week there are rarely long lines. You can go again and again without waiting. The facilities themselves are extremely clean and well kept, including a changing room and bathrooms with a shower. There are always lots of employees and lifeguards there to help. For the money you just can't beat Summer Waves! read more

The park is 30 years old and is in decent shape. All the water attractions have been up kept as they should have. The concession stands are what you would expect at a attraction park and prices are as usual a little high. They have a Larrys Gaint subs for the main eats which is not bad. They could use a little help with getting orders out and the wait in line is not great. A few fans mounted with some water misting hooked tot them would be great. I mean it is hot here. I feel like I need to come back here and teach the staff how to become more efficient - the water slide lines did NOT need to be as long as they were. The staff needs to get people out of the water faster so the next person can go. I have been coming here for 30 plus years and have never experienced such rudeness as my family did today. DO NOT RENT A CABANA IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 8 PEOPLE. That includes children bc no more than 8 can be in the cabana at one time. An attendant came up to our Cabana and told us to get out now bc all of our children were coming in for snacks and drinks after playing. We paid 175 for a cabana that will accommodate 11 people but they only allow 8. We went after 3, the kids pool was closed, drove 2 hr just so my 2 year old grandson could play in that area, were told by Debbie (ast manager) to take him on one of the really big slides..a two year old?? The lazy river was dirty, most of the side walls were very dirty, some were clean so it was not from the days people and there were lots of leaves floating in it also. The ast manager told us she would be right back after speaking with her manager about getting us a refund...she never returned...and the ladies bathroom was closed...what happened to all that pee if the bathroom was closed??? The facility is efficient and clean. The attractions are good, but are so small in number that they leave much to be desired. The music playing on the speakers was the same songs over and over all day. No lie, it must've been less than 10 songs on repeat. A lot of The Script and Hey There Delilah... Did a teenage girl leave her phone plugged in? Does this not drive the employees, let alone the guests crazy? I made a day trip here from Jacksonville, FL.
