    best curly fries!
    Courtney C.

My general rule of thumb is if a bar has shuffle board, it's a 5 star place in my book and the Beacon is no exception. Nothing fancy going on here but the food & drinks are solid and consistent. Our bartender/server, Kelly, was a fanatic sport when we had a large group of people in for a night of drinking. She made us delicious green tea shots & cut us all fresh lemon wedges for our lemon drops. I also stopped in for food and I'm now convinced they have the best curly fries I've ever had. You can't go wrong with the Beacon.

Best bar in Pa. the chef has local source ingredients. The food and drink specials are updated seasonally. I prefer the beacon to any bar in center city Philadelphia

    Very good burger!

I stopped here for a quick lunch back in September and I was very pleasantly surprised. The burger I had was delicious and ridiculously cheap (less than $6 for a burger and chips, nuts!). Our waitress was very nice and our service was great. I would highly recommend this place for a good meal at a ridiculously good price!

As they say it's a red flag when u walk into a restaurant and there's too many seats and not enough asses to fill them. And then my fiance his chicken he said tasted sour, I hope he didn't get sick like I did right after I feel like throwing up just writing this. As my mother would probably say "this tastes trouble" but unfortunately my fiance is too introverted to say anything, thank fuck we didn't order any appetizers too, wouldn't want more food to go to waste in this establishment. Oh can I mention the bugs too? There were ants on our table, ants, they probably got worse and the bathrooms soap pump doesn't work so they had to put another whole bottle separately on the sink for people to use. And guess what.. the manager still charged us for the dish that tasted like nothing even tho I only tasted a small bit of it, for that, you can go fuck yourself. As for our server, hun, when a customer is trying to be nice and understanding u don't say "ok" dismissively multiple times, you need to learn how to be a good server and learn how to serve your customers.. and for that, yes I left that no tip on purpose. I tip very well usually but when a service is absolutely horrible like that and the manager just decides to be petty? You won't be getting anything from us at all. Save the time and effort, drive somewhere else.. this place will never be worth it, besides you'll be stuck at the entrance for about 5 mins or so before a server gives a shit about ya anyways.

Warm, attentive service without hovering...exactly what you want for a special night. We started with the fried calamari and shrimp cocktails. Calamari was golden, tender, zero rubbery pieces, and the shrimp cocktail was huge, fresh, and perfectly chilled. Already a win. For mains, we went all out: Ribeye Steak cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a great sear, Rack of Lamb that was tender and seasoned beautifully, Lobster Crab & Seafood Fra Diavolo with just the right kick, and the Crab & Shrimp Spinach Fettuccine was creamy, packed with seafood, and didn't skimp on the crab. Every plate came out hot and every bite was spot-on. Portions are generous, vibe is cozy but still feels special enough for a 50th, and they even helped us make the birthday moment memorable. No rushed tables, no attitudejust great food and genuine hospitality. If you're in Simpson or driving through, Frank's Place is worth the stop. We'll be back with more friends in tow. We chose to sit on the deck and enjoy the beautiful view of the Delaware River but three tables were occupied and three had the previous guests glasses still on the table so we chose one of the only three "clean" tables available. The table was not cleaned when the dishes were removed. The waitress said it was because the diners had just left? What does this have to do with the table being cleared of dishes but not wiped clean? No big deal the waitresses was polite and professional even if a terrible excuse maker and she wiped the table and took our order. We ordered burgers and fries. The place had been opened for the season for two days at this point but still managed to run out of French fries. I don't know how this is even possible when everything they serve comes with fries (strike two). A salad was substituted but Italian dressing was not available (very odd) we chose the honey mustard which was disgusting and tasted like watered down mustard which made the salads inedible. I'm not even sure the burger was made with real beef. I'd bet they ran out of beef too and gave me a soy burger. It was the driest most pathetic burger I have ever eaten in my 55 years and trust me I've eaten many. The drinks were tasty but I think they forgot to put alcohol in them or maybe they just aren't good at anything. With food this bad they really should get their patrons good and drink before feeding them. Seventy dollar lunch and it wasn't even worthy of boxing up and taking home for the dog.
