Nice little restaurant with an attached hotel in case you need to stay overnight. The food and service were actually really nice! They have a bunch of options like sandwiches, pasta, salads. You could truly find anything you might want. The drinks were also really good and reasonably priced for large pours. The hotel itself was pretty standard but super convenient since there is not much else in the area. The grounds are really beautiful and they have outdoor seating too. This was such a great find last minute when we needed somewhere to stay in the area. This was the only option but lucky for us it ended up being a good place to stay, a great place to eat and had wonderful owners and staff that made our stay perfect! The room was a good size for two with 2 queen beds, it also had a mini fridge and microwave which is convenient. It was recently remodeled but they still kept an older charm to the room with some antique looking furniture that really went with the vibe of staying in a remote town. We tried a few different things for dinner and wanted to make sure we had leftovers so we can snack once we got back on the road (sad to report that we left the leftover containers in the fridge by accident when we left ). Some good, some bad. Thought the dining rooms and patio were very spacious and attractive. The staff were wonderful, very friendly and quick as possible. The food was honestly quite bad; the worst flounder I can ever remember having in my life, and zero flavor of crab in the stuffing, just bread crumbs. Truly terrible; and the same for my friend's chicken stir-fry - she didn't eat more than two bites. So I can't recommend dining here. Lastly, there was a life-sized cardboard standup of Trump in the dining room. That's probably par for the course in Susquehanna County PA. but very low-class decor concept. read more

This place is a find. Located in the middle of nowhere, its packed. There are 3 dining areas. If you want to sit outside (under the tent), I suggest you make a reservation to ensure prompt seating, as this place is jumping. Service was excellent. We started with a couple apps - Garlic Shrimp and Steamed Clams. Yummy! I ordered the Broiled Scallops with mashed potatoes (sorry no picture as my phone died). My wife order the Lobster ($21.00) and my friend ordered the Catfish and Shrimp over cajun rice. The meals were fabulous. I had the Peanut Butter Explosion for dessert. We came here for what should have been a great event that was planned out way in advance. I am not the one who planned this event but from what I know they were very difficult to work with and non communicative. They were not set up at the correct time or properly prepared for the number of guests we were which they did know in advance. They ran out of food, utensils, plates, and forgot to serve part of our contracted meal. We were a large group and everyone was paying per person for their families. Unfortunately one person was tasked with dealing with this facility which was not an easy feat. When we arrived they tried to charge an astronomical 25% gratuity for a buffet dinner that they again forgot to bring our part of our food, and didn't have enough of. This also was never mentioned prior to the party. They were not nice about it and some of their guests were causing a ruckus and instigating with us, and we were a huge party of over 100 people. They did nothing to stop it nor did they care. Instead of thanking us for the business. I would highly recommend to NEVER come here! Oh and to top if off they lost their liquor license the day before our event and wouldn't be getting it back for 2 weeks... shady much? Come at your own risk... I am adding to my review in response because you are first and foremost blaming customers which should be a red flag!!! So you are claiming you didn't lose your liquor license while our party was at your facility? We know you were getting it back afterwards. But unfortunately you did not have it for the day of our party, which is a strange thing to occur as you have a large bar in the middle of your facility. Why did you lose it!?!? And no one called anyone anything vulgar to my knowledge. Your guests all 5 of them at the round table in the corner kept mocking the situation and instigating to our entire party and all the children. How do you allow that. As you can you can gain more business from us instead of losing. And let's not forget your indoors was completely empty besides your 1 table. And yes you did bring the salad out after our host reminded you that you forgot it. Which she shouldn't have had to do. But at that point most people were gone already. As far as going up to the buffet table more than 1x to get food that's what happens when you attend a buffet!! But in this case the first wave of people didn't even get to have everything on the menu because there was not enough food. You ran out of chicken (which happened to be good). And your waiters and waitresses were doing a great job of constantly cleaning up and taking plates away and throwing them out so yes, when people needed to go back up they needed new plastic (which then was replaced with paper) plates and plastic utensils that you ran out of. And people sometimes drop utensils, is that allowed?? But instead you are accusing us. This is actually insulting yet hilarious. Trust me no one will be coming back. No worries and we're spreading the word to make sure no one else does either. I can't speak to what went on with the bill, the gratuity or any of the planning but just as how we as a large party were treated so unprofessionally and rudely. The people at the resort we're staying in said it is hard to get into without a reservation, but we were hungry just before 5pm so went to. eat early - we had no problem getting in ( but their parking lot was full when we left! ) The food was very good, and portions generous. My wife ordered shrimp scampi over linguini, I had the Eggplant Parmesian over linguini - she had a salad and I had a seafood bisque. I hesitated writing this review as I understand that new businesses always need a bit of leeway, but this experience was just too much. We had planned to stay at the "resort" from 12/29-1/3, but only made it to the 2cd. In fairness to the owners, they did refund us for one night, but even that was a challenge. When we arrived on the 29th, our first room was ghastly, it smelled and the bathroom was filthy, plaster dust everywhere and no towels. It was clearly not livable. We asked to be moved, and were, to a room closer to the restaurant. This room had no lights, so, once again, we had to go to the restaurant and ask for lights. One would think that checking such basis items would be a priority for renting out a room. The list of "nos" continues, no smoke alarm, no rates posted on the door, egress was bolted shut and the view out the back window was atrocious. Because they don't open until noon, there is no coffee, not even water glasses. The worst was yet to come. I realized, sadly too late, that there was a band scheduled to play New Year's Even in the bar. When I messaged the owner about noise, here is what I was told, "I believe 1am but typically we never have any complain in room 7 from noise and it's inside the new dining room so it shouldn't bother you guys." Of course, this was patently not true. In fact, we could hear every beat of the drum and every note of the singer. The advertised price for the room was $116.60 per night (taxes included), but, the price was actually $120.00 because, and I quote, when I asked for a refund on the additional charges that were NOT posted on the web site, "I can only give you the tax that is included in the one night stay legally. We get charged 6% from normal state tax and 3% from Susquehanna county tax. The price was 116.60 with regular tax, the 3% is what brings it up to the 120.09 per night. I have to update our website, the change on the tax was just recent, we weren't aware we had to pay county tax for the hotel rooms as well." So, even though the price was incorrect on the web site, we had to pay the extra amount. The web site also says that there is parking within 100 feet of your room, which is not true. Indeed, when, again, I asked that our space be saved on New Year's Eve (which was rainy and the parking lot is actually just a huge mud puddle), we were told, "There's no way for us to save parking. I don't have cones or anything. I'll try to get one of our guys to park near the door so when you get here they can move for you" To their credit, we did have a space, but it was on the other side of the building. Nothing is right about this "resort," and I cannot recommend the place to anyone. There is a lot of work involved in running a motel properly, including a focus on customer service. This place has none of that. Note from owner: Thank you for such a nice review. You posted a picture that was in the middle of a beer delivery so yea our back does look like that we are getting everything out of the cooler & then it is immediately cleaned up. We did everything to make your stay easy, you were VERY needy & I personally tried to make you as happy as I thought you could possibly be. I messaged you 2 times to refund you, before you answered me so writing it was a challenge is very untrue. You can bash us on google that is fine, but maybe you could have mentioned that with even how hard you were to deal with, we were friendly and accommodating. Always made what you needed available & tried to move you away from the restaurant when the band was playing. I knew as soon as you got your money you'd bash us, when honestly we didn't have to refund you at all, but out of the kindness of my heart we did. No good deed goes unpunished. read more

My family has a lakehouse close to this place and my wife and I went with my parents for a meal here last year. We had a wonderful experience overall. We had an issue when my wife's salad never came, but when the staff realized this, they gladly provided it to go and it was free of charge. I was impressed with how accommodating and humble they were to me and my family. It was extremely busy this night, but they were very attentive. I only think the error was a result of growing pains of newer staff, which is understandable. They made it right without any question. I used to drive by this place when it was the Vacation Inn (Bates Motel type place) and they have transformed it into a desirable outing destination for the area. The atmosphere is great, the place is clean, and the staff was friendly, kind, and made me feel like a local. I look forward to another visit. read more

We booked a room for an overnight stay while traveling and want to warn anyone traveling do not make the same mistake. The rooms are the most warn down unkept rooms I've ever seen. I actually was grateful there was no carpet in the room because who knows what would be living in it. There was a back door to our hotel room (?) and blinds that barely covered the window to the hallway behind our room. When we dared to peak out the next morning, there were steak bones, trash, thrown everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. And to top it off, we heard yelling and screaming in the neighboring room when we were trying to go to sleep. We got up and knocked on the door asking them to quiet down, only to find out the next day it was the managers room???!! Unbelievable. I don't know who owns this place, but they clearly don't care. We made a reservation for our first visit to the place. It was our anniversary and we wanted something different. I remember what the place was when it was the Vacation Inn, and they have definitely made changes for the better. The hostess was extremely nice and polite, and showed us to our table right away. It was a busy night, so staff was shuffling all around. Our waitress came fairly quickly, and was very polite and cordial. She took our drink orders and then our dinners. My only issue was that my soup didn't come when my husbands salad came out, but, they brought it right away when we mentioned it. The appetizers and dinners were huge and very filling. They were very attentive during the meal, despite it being a near madhouse. We ordered our desserts to go and asked for our check. We then learned that our server was also the owners daughter. When she brought our check, she said our desserts were on the house for our anniversary. Me and my family recently ate at this restaurant, and let me tell you this 2 stars is deserved. As we took our seats our hopes were high, little did we know they would be crush by the large disgusting foot of the cheeseburger that I had ordered. The patty was overcooked, but came cold. The cheese was not melted, and the bun was chewy. This burger was a 2 out of 10. The other meals that we had were great, which is where the two stars come from. We also got the French onion soup, the pizza, the shrimp, and the vegetable stir fry. The wait for the food was about an hour, and in my opinion, a little long for the mount of guests that were there. The really long wait was at the end. We waited 1 HOUR for a box and the check to come. However, the staff was friendly. Not hearing is apparently not the only reason the staff would hang up because we were literally in the middle of a conversation when I said I had a question about the price (my exact words were "I'm not ready this second, I have a quick question") and the person on the other side of the phone said "then you can call back when you're ready." Never got my question answered, definitely was heard, still was hung up on. I'm sure the staff gets stressed at busy times...staff everywhere get stressed at busy times. That's not an excuse to straight up ignore people, and the fact that it's being used as an excuse by an owner also doesn't sit right with me. I'm in the service industry, and know full well the impact and attitudes of people these days, but it's a two way street. I didn't call to cause an issue...I called because I genuinely have enjoyed pizza here in the past, but I'm not going to beg to eat somewhere when there are other options. More of a recommendation to the restaurant versus a review. We ordered the stuffed flounder for the second time and it still wasn't cooked well. I suggest baking versus just broiling or cooking in the Salamander oven, which seems to be the case. I knew coming in to this bar it was going to either be really great or really terrible because I was told it was hit or miss. It was an absolute MISS!!! We waited 45 minutes to get our second drink! The 18 inch pizza my boyfriends was cut into 4 slices so you couldn't actually eat it with out silverware I had to steal silverware from another table because they never gave us any. Which no big deal I thought but the was so thin you could crumple it up like a piece of paper, it was gross! Never gave him a plate either! I got a French dip and the meat was so tough you couldn't even chew it didn't help that the onions in it were barely cooked. We were there for 2 and a half hours had 2 drinks each never asked us how our food was never asked if we wanted another drink! Finally I had to track the bartender down to get our bill because an hour of sitting and not eating with empty pint glasses wasn't enough of a hint to at least ask what was wrong. We've been looking for another great area restaurant, this Speakeasy hit a home run ! Atmosphere is open and pleasant, food was fantastic and a rather extensive menu, all reasonably priced. Fish and chicken were great and my shrimp, chicken scampi was one of the best I've ever tasted. Plenty of both shrimp and chicken compliments the buttery, garlicky angel hair pasta. Add excellent cocktails with the super friendly, smiling waitresses and staff..and we'll be returning very, very soon again. Very impressive read more

Second time staying at the speakeasy. 12 of us Stayed at the speakeasy for the weekend to ride the trails. Accommodations were great. Plenty of parking for your vehicles. Can park right outside your room for easy unload/load as well as keep an eye and ear on your equipment. Restaurant provided excellent service and food was amazing. I had broiled salmon that was prepared perfectly. All 12 of us had not one single complaint about our food or service. Friday July 24, 2020 18:00 Called to make reservations, told they aren't needed. Arrived to find a line out the door, primarily in the sun, which contained both people who had made reservations and those of us that hadn't. Waited over half an hour to be seated and watched people being taken in "out of turn" with no system to check in for a table and staff scrambling to seat parties containing 2-4 people. Menus were returned to the front station without being wiped down, nor were pens used by more than one person. We watched staff go into a closet to get table cloths carrying both a used one and with a clean one. The only hand sanitizer station we observed was outside the bathroom doors. Staff behind the indoor bar did not have masks in place although most were around their necks. We were taken to an outdoor table with a condiment caddy already on the table and given menus. We were told someone would bring some bread and water for us shortly. After ordering our drinks and food we were brought two cups of water, sans ice, and told our bread would be out shortly. Our appetizers came, the coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly and very good! However the waitress was asked specifically if the coconut shrimp came with a dipping sauce and she said it did. The minimal amount of "dipping sauce" was actually drizzled across the top quite sparingly and a couple pieces were actually missed. The boneless chicken bites were cooked perfectly and sauced very nicely. Our salads were good but would have been better if chilled. It was at this point that we discovered the sticky salt shaker and that both the salt and pepper shakers had a "crust" on the top. Our bread finally came and it was excellent! Crusty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside with real butter served with it. We waited quite some time after that for our entrees. The bacon wrapped filet mignon was plated nicely, cooked perfectly, hot and delicious! The prime rib was cut beautifully, cooked to a perfect medium rare, served with an au jus that was luke warm but delicious. The prime rib was cold. Very disappointing that the baked potato was hot enough to require careful handling and the prime rib so cold that the little bit of fat around the edge was white and quite firm to the touch. Both entrees were served with a side of peas and diced carrots which were hot. Why not serve a seasonal local vegetable instead of what appeared to be a frozen mix? The hostess did come over and ask if our meal was okay, this was prior to me having tried mine. When our waitress came back to our table we told her our complaint which she handled very well. We were offered a replacement meal or another entree which we refused due to time constraints - having been there almost two hours already. We were offered free dessert and opted to take a Tiramisu with us. Our bill was adjusted accordingly. The waitress apologized again and again citing how busy they were- PA Bars and Restaurants are supposed to be operating at 25% I would hate to see operations in this establishment at full 100%- as did the hostess. None of the staff used trays, it seems a lot of time was wasted by them walking back and forth with drinks and plates of food, bussing tables, things were dropped, having to get silverware, etc. We did not see common areas (door knobs, ATM, etc.) wiped once while we were there. There were also waitresses with loose hair and seemed to be lacking sanitary practices training. Better staff training and skills, reassignment of duties, redefining staff service needs and meeting them (table cloths central to where they are used, covered pitchers of ice water to more quickly serve guests and save staff steps, cleaning supplies close by, etc.) more consistent food being prepared and served, cleaning of commonly used areas and condiment vessels, this place could be a most excellent place to dine year round! We will give Speakeasy another try at some point and post another review but we can't say we will go back right away. read more

I can't speak to the room accommodations. However, the bar restaurant area is super cute. They have an outdoor area as well but it was a little windy and chilly the night we were there; so they did not have it open. The drinks were delicious. Especially the spike lemonade! We had crab stuffed mushrooms to start that were cooked well. The entrees were good. I would say the mashed potatoes were a little dry but my main dish of broiled salmon was good with a dill sauce. I definitely will be going back. I want to see how it is when they have live entertainment. read more

We were fortunate to have stumbled upon this restaurant deep within the Elk Mountain range in beautiful Uniondale, Pa. Finding Speakeasy was like finding a precious gem amidst the feldspar. My wife and I have had the pleasure of eating there 3 times over the last month each time with different friends. So far we've had the broiled haddock, flounder, ravioli and Maryland crab cakes. The haddock was fresh and delicious, some of the best white fish we've tasted. The flounder was excellent and brought back memories of the flounder served to me as a child growing up on Long Island years ago..fresh out of the ocean. The Maryland crab cakes were very large, perfectly breaded and well seasoned. This wonderful restaurant has both inside ( a bit noisy) and outside seating with a great view of the mountains. While there we were visited by the new owners, Doreen and Jeff ( several Jeff's involved in putting this restaurant and resort on the map). We also had the great pleasure of meeting the chef, JR Tiger with his smooth South Carolina accent. We understand that he was a contestant on the Food Channel's show Chopped. A wonderful guy who knows food inside and out. He even spent time offering advice about gnocchi to a friend of ours who is on a gluten-free diet!
