I went to have my watch battery replaced. Amazingly they have a free service and name a charity of the month to which you can donate, but there was absolutely no pressure. I have a very basic / cheap Timex watch and other places had quoted $15, $20 and even more for a battery replacement......cheaper to get a new watch. I was in a pinch to get a watch engraved and they came through for me! I purchased the watch from a different retailer and they still provided quick and affordable engraving service to me. When I went to pick up the watch only several days after dropping it off, I received wonderful customer service and help again! We brought in my husband's luxury watch for routine maintenance and cleaning. We were told they could clean it and adjust the springs to improve efficiency, but my first warning sign was learning the watch had to be sent out rather than handled in-house. I should have trusted my instincts and taken it elsewhere. We were initially quoted about six weeks. After six weeks passed, we received no call and no update. Since then, I've repeatedly had to follow up myself--both by phone and in person--only to hear the same response: "the vendor is working on it." I was also told I would receive a follow-up call the next week with an update, but that never happened. I was also surprised to see the store is now operating under a new brand name (formerly Morrison's, now Bailey's). Regardless of the name, this experience did not match the reputation we expected. Tim the store manager and Virginia the sales associate are awesome! I took in a few pieces to get resized and redesigned and they offered great solutions. Tim was very clear about there is always more than one way to work on a piece. The one estimate was a little more than what I wanted to pay and Tim asked them to go back and provide another estimate that was more economical. Virginia was sweet and provided lots of knowledge while picking out a loose diamond to add to another ring. I had an absolutely amazing experience at Morrison Smith. I took my wedding ring in (which previously belonged to my grandmother). To say that it is a sentimental piece and means a great deal to me would be putting it lightly. Years ago the wedding band, engagement ring and anniversary band were all soldered together. I was hoping to separate the anniversary band and get all pieces resized. Sam greeted us warmly a few seconds after we walked in. She immediately understood what I was wanting and talked me through the process. I got a phone call the next day and she spelled out all of my options and provided cost for each option. I anticipated some prong work would be recommended and was glad to have the integrity of the ring evaluated. Never once was I pressured into a sale, but rather well educated on my options. My rings were ready for pickup the next week. Luyen did the work, and he is an incredible craftsman! The rings came out even better than I could have imagined. An incredible place for custom jewelry where literally anything is possible! My review is long overdue since I worked with jeweler Samantha over the summer of 2022 and picked up my custom locket in the fall--but better late than never. :) I reached out to Morrison Smith about commissioning a custom locket in memory of my cat. I had shopped online and couldn't find anything that was unique or interesting enough and that was also solid gold, so I knew I needed to work with a jeweler. Morrison Smith was responsive, patient, and very helpful throughout the whole process! I went to Morrison Smith knowing I wanted solid gold or rose gold, probably an oval or circular shaped locket, and I also wanted a single gem or cluster of gemstones on the front. I wanted these gemstones to be the color of my cat's eyes. Samantha allowed me to come in and figure out what size locket I might want by trying some on, she had me look at different shapes, and she showed me the different chains they had. She also worked to match various gemstones to the different colors in my cat's eyes, and she nailed it. What I really appreciated about coming here was that Samantha made me feel like anything was possible. She would have worked with me to make any kind of design, and for that level of customization I felt the pricing was incredibly fair. I also liked that she never rushed me and answered my many questions along the way. My cat was by my side for almost sixteen years and I miss him every day. You can bring your jewelry by at any time and they will clean it for you on the spot. Last week, I went by with a gold chain, not purchased here, that was my mother's. My toddler had repeatedly yanked on it until the clasp was broken. When I brought it in to be repaired, the gentleman told me it wasn't broken, tinkered with it for a few minutes and handed it right back over. No fuss and no charge. I am a returning customer for a reason. We purchased our engagement and wedding bands from these fine folks, and we worked with Rob each time. Now for this story, my wife's wedding band was a bit special, calling for the engagement ring to be sottered together inside the guard of the wedding band--don't ask me--I don't know these things! Anyway, it was a delicate bit of decorative fusion, and it took two tries to get it right. Rob himself got involved on the second try, made sure he understood exactly where it needed to be put right, and personally oversaw the project when it went back to the craftsmen's bench. Then, he drove out to us and hand delivered the finished product. I have always been impressed with Morrison Smith's ability to get it right. Never in my life have I had to work so hard to buy something. It has taken 5 months of repeating myself and my order, calling frequently to follow up and stopping by the store to FINALLY get a match to a diamond hoop earring that I bought a few years ago. I wouldn't have bothered except that it was the last thing my mom gave me before she died and we've been customers here for 50 years. The turn around time was quick and they helped me find a great Insurence plan. They cleaned my ring and offered me a glass of wine. There were a number of other employees milling around, talking to each other. Not one greeted me, nor asked if I wanted any help. I wandered around the store for about 10 minutes. At one point, the sales woman brushed past me, saying excuse me in a rather harried voice. The one customer who was being waited on took her repair and left. The physical location is fine, but the staff are not. We just needed a ring resized, and you could tell they were disinterested immediately. No "congratulations," no smiles, nothing. If you aren't excited about engagement rings on Valentine's day, you may be in the wrong business. Picking the ring up was a little better in that someone smiled at me, but only after a few heads peeked up, looked me over, and went back to their paperwork. Yet I also need to consider the quality of their work, which was excellent. They make custom jewelry so it's no surprise that they can resize a ring: 4 days and $60 yielded perfect results. I want to say that this store is below average, but I have had so many awful experiences recently that my standards may need adjusting. I cannot say enough about this jeweler and Virginia who helped me during the process. The diamond in my wedding ring was loose and I took it in, after doing research on reputable places. I was nervous and Morrison Smith did not disappoint, even with the hiccups along the way. Virginia helped me through each phase and even suggested that I get my ring set to help keep the diamond safe. We went with her suggestion and, when I went back to get pick my ring up, it did not look the way it was told to me that it would. I was disappointed in the moment and every person in that store was helpful and encouraged me to speak up if I wasn't 100% happy. I expressed how I was feeling and they went to work. After some digging into the order, it turns out that the wrong setting was ordered and they reassured me that they would make it right. I was so afraid my ring was ruined, but Virginia told me it was going to be alright! My ring came back better than I could have ever imagined. What I appreciated the most was that the shop was quick to acknowledge they made a mistake and then did everything possible to make it okay and make me comfortable with the situation. I cannot say enough about Virginia and her kindness and warmth toward my husband and me. It turned out to be a wonderful experience and Morrison Smith will forever have my loyalty. Awesome service and quality work! I had a custom piece made with a family heirloom stone. Samantha was SO attentive to detail in catering to all my ridiculous requirements and specifications. She made calls to find the best price and delivery time with their vendors and to get the piece customized. The vendor we settled on had actually gone up in price since printing of the book they had in the boutique but she split the difference since I really like that vendor. She also took time to explain recommendations like white gold over platinum because of durability since what I was requesting was rather intricate. While quoting the work, I mentioned concerns about quality of setting / prongs (I've had bad experiences at other places in the past with custom work.) So, in addition to showing examples of items their jeweler had worked on, she assured me that the jeweler who would be setting the stone was one of the best she'd ever worked with - having only recently moved from the craftsman side to working the customer side of the business, she can understand and speak to the skill disparity across jewelers. They recommend the same insuring entity that they work with and they request no referral so I feel pretty confident it's an honest recommendation rather than a venue for kickback. They even offer discounts to keep the jewelry appraisal up to date and of course like every reputable jeweler, they'll inspect and clean at no charge. Morrison is top drawer and Samantha was amazingly easy to work with! Turn around was quick and all said and done, I walked away with a piece I'm very happy with plus the assurance that they'll take care of future needs.
