Aura is one of the most luxe spas I have been to and I loved every minute of it. I had booked a Luxury Spa Pedicure which turned out to be 45 minutes and £40 pounds worth of heaven on earth. Even though I was there for a relatively short treatment (you can spend the whole day there, what bliss), I was shown to the very swish changing room and invited to put on one of those thick perfectly white bath robes that people embarrass themselves by stealing from five star hotels. I was then shown to the pedicure chair which was attached to a footbath which had, I kid you not, flowers floating in it. I then spent 10 minutes with my feet in delish smelling hot water, flicking through celeb mags and generally congratulating myself on my good fortune. Next my feet were anointed with some very expensive lotion and then my nails were filed and polished to perfection. I had somewhere else to be afterwards but had I had time I could have spent as long a s I wanted in the lounge area sipping tea or fruit juice and reading more glossies. Aura is not a cheap place to while away the hours but boy is it worth it. They do gift vouchers so start perfecting the art of dropping hints!

They offer free consultations and are stockists of all the usual brands of spray tan such as Fake Bake, He-Shi and Sun FX. Sun FX would be my brand of choice in this salon - they gave me a really nice even tan with no appointment and no streaks for only £15. As well as offering all the usual services such as facials ad nails they also have semi permanent make up and a male grooming service. The semi permanent make up is £295 for the make up and a revisit and a top up - I personally would not be a fan of this but I have heard people say they do a really good job! I think this is a great place to nip in for a bit of beauty treatment if you are in the center of town - it is good value for money, friendly and convenient. Plus, I love the fact that they advertise all their special offers on the front window so you know what to ask for and how much it will be before you even go into the shop.

However, the quality of my wax has never been great. I've seen several different beauticians, the first girl left my bikini area bruised after every wax I had with her and the rest normally left large patches of hair. I been waxing for 10 years now and know that 6-8 weeks is the right amount of time to leave between my waxes to get the best results. Despite this at my last appointment my hairs were just broken rather than removed. There were also several large patches of hair that had been missed on my legs and part of my bikini area. Including both my knees, ankles and feet. At £45 each visit I'd expect better quality, for this reason I've decided to go else where.

It was just then I noticed Twisted Scissors & Soul on Yelp and its 5 star review from Jen A. I gave it one last go and contacted them. Unfortunately Twisted Scissors & Soul were fully booked too but they offered me the option of a wash and blow dry with their Trainee Jordan. I was delighted at this and quickly booked an appointment. A modern, stylish salon with skull wallpaper and ornate silver framed mirrors, Twisted Scissors & Soul is super cool. Luckily it's also super relaxing to visit and boasts two Stylists and a Beautician. Plus there's the wonderful Trainee Jordan. Jordan washed my hair with volume enhancing shampoo and conditioner. She give me a fantastic blow dry (referred to in-house as a "Wendy") and left my normally fuzzy, extremely fine hair looking smoother, fuller and much, much better. I was absolutely delighted and have already booked a return appointment to get my hair cut. A superb Salon with a great team of staff who helped me out in my hour of need.
