Honestly, I was quite disappointed. We ordered the mac'n'cheese burger and not only was the price absurd for what it was ($18!) but it was DISGUSTINGLY oily. There were pools of oil and everytime I took a bite I would have to wipe my hands thoroughly. I do NOT recommend the burger. We also ordered the grilled cheese, which was just ok. I wouldn't order it again. And finally, we bought the Drunken Cookie which was nice! The syringe filled with the chocolate was clogged up so it took a lot of effort to get the chocolate out, and it didn't add much to the dish itself (apart from making it more instagrammable). This is our local and we love it for brunch. Been a couple of times for dinner but we always prefer the brunch vibe. Cocktails are good, food is always excellent and they change the menu pretty regularly. My favorite thing on the menu is definitely the risotto balls and the grilled cheese and tomato soup. I live directly above The Bedford. I'll give you my take and then my partner's take. I have eaten there four times The food is sub-par, heavy on the salt (and I like salt), small portions, and over-priced. The staff is friendly enough, but short-staffed and unable to deliver anything near decent service. Two times they forgot an item and it was hard to get their attention. I just gave up. Expect very long wait times, very very long. Meaning 15 minutes plus before a menu could appear. This brings us to the three times I tried to eat there and did not. I would be seated and then promptly forgotten about. It wasn't personal, like I said they are nice enough, but I wouldn't get a menu or I would, then the wait would be way too long to order. I would give up hope and leave. Two times the place was near empty and the last time it was a busy Sunday brunch hour. My partner has made the effort more than I have. He is more patient and too lazy to go down the block to something else. He has eaten there around 25 + times. His comment are "it is awful. The food is terrible (salt and grease), the service is terrible and there is no reason for either because no one is in the place (unless they made a mistake)." These are his words. He has walked out five times because of lack of attention. Jeesh he is lazy, I had no idea he has gone so many times and had such low regard for the food. What is wrong with him.... There are so many great places in Williamsburg. Go someplace else and enjoy a great meal and service without the anxiety of being ignored. read more

The striped bass was excellent but was a small portion which was relatively overpriced. Drinks and ambiance at the back bar, where we ate, were great. Fantastic food and drink and very attentive service. I was part of a group of 8 who wandered in around 10:00 and were treated like family. Drinks at the bar, a refreshing citrusy blond draft beer followed by shots of various liquors, then seated with appetizers and dinner. All of us enjoyed the brisket sliders and fried brussels sprouts. One of our group was a vegan, who found enouigh choices to leave the restaurant full and with a smile. the night we were there, they had barbecue beef ribs which were tasty falling-off-bone scrumptious. Finally, we all tried the mushroom soup, which is unquestionably the best I've ever had, be it in the finest dining restaurant in the world or in one of my gourmet friend's kitchen. I have been following this restaurant for a few months well now. I came to New York this week and my friend and I and we were very excited to try this restaurant out. We got there yesterday evening and Jane P. ended up being our server. Initially everything was going smoothly however, as we continued to interact w/ Jane, we noticed that her attitude wasn't the best. As we requested things, she would just walk up and slide them on the table, she never asked if we were okay, if we needed anything (etc).. To put the icing on the cake, I ordered a Lemonade for my drink. Once I tasted the Lemonade, I quickly realized that I didn't really like it. I asked Jane to swap it out for a Sprite. She came back with the drink and slid it on the table. When the bill came back and I reviewed it, I noticed that Jane was charging me $4.00 for the Sprite and $2.00 for the Coke. When I asked her why there was a difference in price, she lied and said, the Sprite was the same price as the Lemonade. This made absolutely no sense to me... I felt she was insulting my intelligence. The $2.00 difference wasn't my issue. My issue was she blatantly lied.. We asked another lady about the price difference, she replied "Let Me ask her (she was referring to Jane)." Jane then correct the bill and slid the revised copy on the table. No apology no nothing.. She was extremely rude at this point.. This irritated us but we just got up and left. We did not tip this woman, this left a horrible first impression with my friend and I. Jane really needs a good class in customer service. This is in no way acceptable. Jane also did not inform us about the no refill policy until after she delivered a second drink to the table. She then turned around and said, I didn't tell you about this beforehand so I won't charge you extra for the second drink. She did correct that issue however, she was a horrible server. Inform your customers upfront as to what the deal is and how things work. Check on your customers and if you make a mistake, don't be blatantly rude or lie.. Just correct it! This is not okay. We've decided not to return to this restaurant. We are in NY all the time and there are so many places to dine. Customer service is number one in my book. She completely lacked that. Bedford on New Years Eve was a fantastic choice. We didn't get food, but the dark back room with plenty of seating was perfect for us at 2 AM. I don't recall us having spectacular drinks, but then again, I was beyond blizzed by this point. We still come here and love the brunch! Their blueberry pancakes are great and the Bellini is so refreshing! I really love their portions because you're not left feeling disgusted and bloated you're satisfied. I really want to like The Bedford since it's a block away from our new apt, and I do love the space and the service is good. The food has been decent, both dinner and brunch (though the hubby did not like his burger at all - too mushy), but I can't justify giving it a four star til I have something here that makes me want to come back again and again. My girlfriends and I randomly picked The Bedford on our way to Brooklyn Brewery. It was fairly empty for a Friday night so we wrongly assumed we'd be in and out quickly. I think our server was the only one working even though there were about 4-5 guys hanging out behind the bar. The beer choices weren't impressive-they only had four draft beers listed and were out of the first one I ordered. However, I didn't learn that until about 8 minutes after ordering. The mixed drinks sounded appealing and the wine selection was so-so. Our food was good-I had the truffle mac and cheese. Serving size was adequate and price was moderate. Getting our check took some effort, but again, I think our server was the only one working and we weren't his priority (seems like he had regulars/friends that were in the house). I came here for brunch with my mother last weekend and really liked it. I ordered a vegetable omelet (the healthiest choice on the menu) and to my delight, it was actually light and healthy. It was a normal sized omelet, it was slightly fluffy and everything in it was very fresh. It came with a small field green salad. The salad was very good too. It was dressed with vinaigrette that wasn't sweet, which is a big plus in my book. I hate sweet salad dressings. I guess I can be a bit picky... My mother ordered a breakfast sandwich with avocado, bacon, cheese and an egg. It was ENORMOUS and she really enjoyed it. It also came with a small salad. I liked this place because the food was pretty simple. Sometimes brunch in Williamsburg comes with a lot of bells and whistles and exotic ingredients, which is great when you're in the mood, but sometimes, you just want an omelet. This has become our go-to weekend brunch spot, especially now that the weather has warmed up and we can sit on the side patio with our dog. Menu has a southern flair and usually a few interesting specials (nutella pancakes, meatball eggs benedict, etc.). First Bloody Mary is only five bucks with an entree. The bloodies are spicy and tart just like they should be. Service can be a little slow but if you know that coming in just dial back your expectations. It's brunch...relax. That being said, they do always seem to bring the drinks quickly which makes the wait a little easier. Although the server appeared to be working alone, The Bedford wasn't busy enough to be as slow as it was. The food was okay, but not really up to the sort of standard that I'd heard. Perhaps it was an off day. We ordered a hamburger, a BLT, a pint of beer and an iced tea. The hamburger was ground fresh that morning so I ordered it medium rare. Indeed, it arrived medium rare, piping hot... but the blend used for the ground wasn't low enough in fat to tolerate medium rare and it was too fatty, too greasy. The bun quickly soaked through, though it was a good enough burger to eat every bite. The fries were coated and far far far over-seasoned, pretty much to the point of being inedible. The BLT, on the other hand, was good. Onions nicely caramelized. The only flaw seemed to be the inclusion of cheese (which is something that I've never felt should belong on a BLT). The BLT was accompanied by an arugula and fennel salad which had a token slice or two of grape tomato and far too few pickled red onions (which were amazingly good). The salad held together in a way that neither the burger nor the BLT did. It was excellent. We finished with coffee and a panna cotta. The coffee was spectacularly good and the panna cotta well-conceived but perhaps poorly executed. The panna cotta had a blueberry sauce that was too thin--a full on compote would have been better, and the panna cotta itself (flavored, I think, with perhaps Thai Basil) was more dense than I like it. The idea of it, on the other hand, was first rate. I think, perhaps, that I saw the kitchen on a slightly off day. I'll have to try again. It is a nice place in Williamsburg for a lunch, so it's definitely worth a look. read more

Walked in last night with no expectations. The doorman at The Wythe Hotel recommended it for a burger. It was the best burger in williamsburg I've had. So far I've had dumont, roebling tea room, spike hill, allswell, mothers, juniper, Gordon Bennett, and a ton of other places. I LOVE this place. Let me start by saying that as someone who works in entertainment and spends a lot of time in Williamsburg for concerts, screenings and events I am always looking for good restaurants for entertaining and good food. The Bedford is excellent. Its right near the L-train and Williamsburg Waterfront which makes it super easy to get to. Also, props to them for being helpful to those of us with allergies. I was dining with someone who is allergic to dairy and I myself can no longer have soy or dairy (I know, sucks) and the waiter couldn't have been kinder, even offering to bring the chef out to walk us through the menu; I love when a restaurant is flexible with substitutions. I recommend the brussel sprouts, kale chips, and the flat ironed chicken - so crispy! read more

I really enjoy their taste, it's generally sour, zesty, and flavorful. Never a boring taste. The only downside is their service, or else they'll definitely have my 5 star. Menu was great, food was delicious (had the salmon burger, risotto balls and mint julep creek brûlée) and wine list was reasonably priced. Then we went into the back bar for a drink and basically our whole experience was ruined there. Drinks were awful & bartender was very aloof. I ordered the spicy Paloma from their cocktail menu and it tasted watered down and unbalanced and my friend got a Manhattan that was made completely incorrectly.
