This is a very Irish bar - so if that is your thing then it may be for you. To be fair the food is…read morenot worth mentioning apart from saying that it is typical pub grub and is cheap. Reasons to go here are basically as follows. You like a real local pub feel that has an Irish feel, you like watching horse racing, football, rugby or sports events but keep in mind a lot of these will be Irish based or you like live music. For me it was o.k. but the locals were a bit frosty. It has a smoking area front and back and a pool table if you fancy a game. They also have a Golf side, pool team and a fantasy football competition so if these appeal then it might be for you. Don't forget St Patrick's day once a year which I am sure would be a blast (as it is everywhere) - Typical Irish pub, worth a visit if you haven't been to one before or enjoy the craic. It has a very loyal local patronage, so somewhere you might find some new friends if they warm to you.

The food is not great, it very heap at £2 for a sandwich I can only imagine why it is so cheap. I suppose being Irish would help to make any of the above more appealing, but when my husband just had to go there to watch a game, me and my friends had a friendly pool game instead. Even so, I did not feel at ease, simply because of all the blokes, screaming and being very loud and obnoxious. Also some bartenders have a very harsh accent so you must pay close attention, which is hard with all the background noise. The outside area stinks too much of cigarettes as it a heated area and therefore attracts many smokers. Definitely not for me, or anyone who appreciates talking and listening.

Whilst it's not the most posh place I've been, it usually gets the job done well. Drinks are how you would find at most pubs, and service is decent too, given how a waitress came to ask us what we wanted and served us amidst a busy rugby game (at other times, we had gone to the bar to order ourselves). There are quite a few tv screens as well as a big home theatre-like one too, which always adds to your sports watching experience. I've never had food here before but would like to try sometime. I hear that their wings are good. Be sure to bring an ID -- as its part of a casino facility, they check your ID even if you're here only for the bar and not for gambling.

Oddly, to open a tab, you have to give them both your credit/debit card AND your driver's license/passport/ID card. They give you a "badge" which you then show every time you order, apparently so they know which tab to bill it to. A bit weird to me, but maybe that's the norm in London, or at least in high-tourist bars in London. Also, they won't let men inside if you are wearing a hat-- you must remove the hat to enter. Fortunately, once inside, I put my hat back on and didn't have a problem with anyone saying anything. Glad my hat hair didn't have to be on display!

I am an avid lover of Polish food and have been to Poland several times. I an always looking for…read moreplaces to satisfy my cravings in London and I am soooo happy to report that Sowa is an excellent option. The restaurant itself is located on a side street in Ealing Broadway. It's a large glass-fronted restaurant with a bakery on the other side of a smart glass partition. A light, bright, airy room with comfy chairs and a smart set-up. Onto the food: my greedy friends and greedy self tried ALOT of food last night. The mixed dumplings were good, all fillings tasty and dumpling skin nicely chewy, these weren't pan-fried though which is my preference. Served with onions, sour cream and smoked bacon. Boar dumplings with creamy mushroom sauce was lovely, super-stuffed with boar meat. Mmmmmm. Steak tartare was small but price reflected this, beetroot carpaccio was beautifully presented and so were the herrings, all of these were lovely, good starters. The beetroot soup was excellent. I had the pork tenderloin for mains, oh gosh, it was so soft and tasty, I was so surprised!! Mash was good, needed more sauce though and the salad didn't match the rest of the plate, veg would have been better. My friend's salmon dish was tasty and beautifully presented, just not typically Polish in my opinion. But, I was here for the potato pancakes with mushroom sauce.....90% as good as the Polish cafe in Gdansk which stole my heart. We had 2 desserts which were lovely, tip: walk over to the bakery and pick your cake from the bakery, not just from the menu. Both were lovely. 2 soft drinks, 2 hot drinks and all this food came to £90. Excellent value, service, atmosphere and I loved the food. Afew tweaks would make this place great-cranberries on pierogi, sprouts and salad garnishes didn't work in most cases and they need to re-word the menu as it just didn't do the food justice. And they need to offer their dumplings pan-fried!! Overall a great option, I am so happy I found this place!!

If you're craving pierogies at lunchtime, come here. There are plenty of tables, decent service,…read moreand you can even watch the woman who makes them (behind a glass wall)! You can get a small or a large portion, and they come with caramelized onions on top. Aside from pierogies, the lunch menu is on the smaller side (for someone with food restrictions, anyway). That said, my warm tomato soup was delicious and comforting. (I don't believe it's gluten-free, as there are pieces of something resembling spätzle in it.) They were even nice enough to treat my husband's pierogies and my soup as one (affordable!) 2-course lunch. On the other side of the restaurant is the patisserie, with delicious-looking tarts behind the counter and small tables perfect for an espresso-and-pastry break.
