I went to the Bend at 2 AM on Saturday the 24th. I used to come here all the time pre-covid (7-10 times). I got checked by the security guard at the front and he seemed very nice. I proceeded to walk inside and I found a seat at the bar and I sat there. There were some people in there and I definitely wouldn't say it was dead, but it also wasn't crazy busy. There was three people working one lady with red shorts and curly hair another lady with blue pants and straight hair and then a short guy. I later seen a taller guy as I was leaving, he was not involved in my experience. The lady with the straight hair and the guy were on the side I was on they kept walking past and at no point seeing if I wanted anything, I know some bars you have to get the bartenders attention instead of them checking what you want so after 8minutes, I attempted to get the female's attention a few times for a few minutes and it did not work (she did serve other people during that time and was having conversation with ppl). Eventually, the lady with curly hair came to my side to make someone on her side's drink. I asked if I could order a drink and she motioned to give her a minute. She went back to her side, made the person's drink, then took some new orders from people and made their drinks and served beers.I waited over 6 minutes. Eventually she came to the side I was on and took the order of the person sitting directly to my right, completely ignoring me. At which point I concluded I was not going to get any service in this establishment and decided to leave after a total of 17 minutes of sitting at the bar and being completely ignored. I try to self reflect and think if I did something to warrant this treatment but I couldn't think of anything. The only thing that makes me feel slightly better is there was a guy sitting to my left that had a cup already and he kept trying to get her attention and she seemed to be avoiding him. I'm not sure if everyone was avoiding him for some reason and I was just unlucky for sitting next to him. I hated the feeling that this experience left me with and I hope no one else has this experience. I have been a regular customer at The Bend for quite a while, and tonight was the first time I was ever asked to leave. What makes it frustrating is that I genuinely do not understand why. I was not drunk, aggressive, disrespectful, or causing any damage. If my voice was louder than normal, it was because I was excited and engaged in the event.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Instead of pulling me aside and respectfully explaining the issue, I was told to leave. The trivia host, Andy, even told me to "shut up," which I found unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. If there was a concern about my behavior, there were far better ways to handle it. What disappointed me most was the security staff. Rather than listening and explaining what rule I had violated, I felt dismissed. At one point, I was trying to understand the situation and was met with an attitude that made me feel like my side of the story did not matter. Good security should de-escalate situations and communicate professionally, especially with regular customers. The only employee who treated me with respect all night was Mark. Mark was friendly, professional, attentive, and gave excellent service. Honestly, if it weren't for him, I probably would have left long ago. He is a major reason people enjoy coming here, and he deserves recognition for the way he treats customers. My biggest question remains: what exactly did I do wrong? If the answer is that I was enjoying trivia night too enthusiastically, then I think that's a problem. Trivia nights are supposed to be interactive and fun. I was participating, engaging with people, and creating positive energy--not causing trouble. I've spent a lot of money at The Bend over the years, tipped well, brought friends, and recommended the place to others. Being removed without a clear explanation after being a loyal customer left a very bad impression. I can't believe this hidden gem was on the outskirts of Hialeah. It's a real cocktail bar serving up some of the best cocktails in Miami in an unassuming shopping plaza. Not the place you want to be at late nights. I went with a group of people and did not enjoy it one bit. For starters the services was bad just all around bad, some of the bartenders seemed so lost and out of touch that it just made the experience worse. I was overcharged 2x and even charged for items that were not mine, I was refunded but it took over a week for that to happen. The bend is small and when I say small I mean tiny as it gets packed very fast. At the end of the night when I was heading out I had someone following me around the bar and was even heading out the door until I physically stopped him from following me. Had heard of this "nerdy bar" on multiple occasions from friends and spontaneously visited on Friday night. For some reason I was expecting a quiet, maybe slightly intimate vibe, but I was pleasantly surprised with quite the opposite. Arriving around 11:30 pm, The Bend was pretty packed with a variety of people, young as well as older crowds. The bar is right in the center of the location with Yoda right by the cash register. Seating around the bar is average, but pretty spacious for the space. There's also several tables around the bar with different themed areas of Star Wars and Stranger Things by the DJ booth. There was also outside seating, with picnic style tables that was for the most part empty, but not sure you can hear the music outside. The ambience was very relaxed and laid back, the music was great, nice variety of oldies and all. Drinks were fairly priced, best we had was the Bee's Knee's if you're a Gin fan. The Dark and Stormy (dark rum and Ginger beer) was just okay, I've had better else where. One of the boards said they have Trivia night on Wednesday's so I would definitely like to come back and. Born and raised in Miami Lakes, I never thought this strip mall would offer anything better than 10,000 movies (the blue-collar blockbuster) and Ballet Etudes. Is it really a bar or just a fancy Flanigans? A few drinks and visits later, I've formulated my articulate response.... First off, Miami Lakes will always be high school and si be prepared to bump into your second grade teacher as you sideswipe her for a picnic table outside. Second, once you get past the whole elementary reunion, you'll notice they have a killer drink menu so the pain of feeling old is easily sedated. Third, they let me bring my dominos and the place actually gets pretty bumping for being in a neighborhood known for monotony. I always order a mule or wine- it's simple and easy. It's crafty enough to spark your interest but Hialeah enough to keep it real- what a perfect balance! I wish this spot existed when I lived at home with my parents but it's a nice and refreshing twist on the ML hood that we all were waiting for. I just wished I would open that side door and smoke a cig (they make you go allllll the wayyyyy around) The difference between Hialeah and Miami Lakes is actually this bar. We went a couple weeks ago and it was crowded, the door man apparently had the door man syndrome and literally just closed the door in our faces. I didn't even know this was here. I mean, okay, I knew of this place's existence; I just didn't know it was two doors down from Los Magueyes. That shock being over with, I really enjoyed my time at The Bend. After dinner last Friday night, my boyfriend and I went there, and well, had it not been that he knew where he was going, I completely would have passed right by this. The outside of this looks so nondescript that it isn't even funny. Heck, at first I thought this was strictly an outdoor lounge, but then, I got led inside and we were IDed accordingly. The actual interior is circular and cozy with dim lighting and just a very calm and collected atmosphere. We ended up getting a couple of drinks there and just spent the night talking. Apparently they had a DJ that night and some people were dancing. From what I saw, too, they have designated nights for certain things like karaoke, so this is sure to be something I will visit in the foreseeable future, especially given the proximity to my house. That and this is possibly the only nightlife available in the whole Hialeah/Miami Lakes area, so for that alone, this merits all the stars in the sky. read more

I like coming here because it's one of the only bars in the area that isn't a restaurant chain. They have solid happy hour specials but the place does get quite full and loud. They have karaoke nights which aren't my favorite but cute to have. Drinks aren't as pricey outside of happy hour, you can get drinks for less than $10. Now I understand its a juke box and the clientele are the ones that select the music but I guess every time I've been there they're playing the right kind of music for me. The bartenders, managers, owners are all outstanding, and are extremely attentive, the service here is absolutely five stars! The drinks they make are on point, seriously they put so much care and passion into making their drinks, if you don't believe me just try the old-fashioned! One of the best I've ever had! They also have the boilermaker special daily which runs about $6-8 dollars and consists of a daily selected shot & beer. The drinks are also at great affordable prices. Another cool feature about this spot is they do have a selection of board games to play at the bar as well such as connect four, jenga, pac-man, galaga, and darts. At the bend lounge they also have numerous events held throughout the week such as ladies night Wednesday, Karaoke Thursdays, oh and of course happy hour specials as well, and did I mention they're the best! If you follow their Instagram account you can catch up on all the events they have planned for the month. They also do tap takeovers, I know the last one was with MIA brewing and it was a fun, great time! I'm a regular here at The Bend, and have been coming since after the first month they've opened. What an awesome spot! It actually made me feel like i was in Southern Cali. That was the vibe i felt walking in. First off, walking up and hearing The Bouncing Souls play totally sold me from the start. The place has an old school feel with a very relaxed crowd. From what I was told it use to be a dive bar, but later was bought out and revamped. That night, they were having a Star Wars premiere party and they offered great Star Wars themed drink specials. We had Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper behind the bar attending to us and they were great. The old fashions were on point! You have Mrs. Pac Man, Jenga and Cards Against Humanity to choose from among just your usual conversations. We decided to go with CAH. Later in the evening, they had a DJ come play for the event and he played a variety of good tunes. Even though I don't live close I will definitely make it a point to come back.
