This was really hard for me to write because I genuinely care for the people here, but the environment is extremely prejudiced against white people. I have attended classes here off and on for a while and have repeatedly heard derogatory remarks about white people They market themselves as a safe space for everyone, but it is not. In fact, they offer discounted classes that explicitly exclude white men based on their skin color and gender. It is incredible that an organization operates programs divided by race and gender. Risa is a wonderful person who I believe means well, but for whatever reason, she and the other instructors are blind to their own bias. I hope that changes one day. Many other actors and actresses have witnessed the exact same thing and now choose not to return. It is only a "safe space" if you have the right skin color and gender. read more

I have been a student here for almost 4 months now. I cannot begin to describe how valuable this experience has been. I've worked mostly with Corey Parker, and as a teacher, he has been a terrific cross section of skilled, caring, supportive, insightful, and encouraging. I also worked briefly with Sydney Walsh, a deeply passionate and invested instructor who helped me see some of the potential I didn't know I had. I've become a semi-regular at this artist's haven... From Risa's ongoing classes to various 8-weekers, I've enjoyed and grown so much through them. Risa was extremely dedicated and insightful into the workings of the business and empowering actors to keep their artist hat on and not be overwhelmed by all of the other aspects that can disorient the actor newly arrived to Los Angeles. I have taken The Audition Experience with Christy Faison and just completed The Advanced Masterclass with Risa Bramon Garcia and really enjoyed both! I took class with Christy Faison and worked muscles I hadn't had the opportunity to work, and left class feeling prepared and ready to work. Christy is down to Earth, and very kind to actors. I finished The Advanced Masterclass yesterday and it was exactly what I needed! I feel like we formed a positive community together because of Risa's style. I've had a lot of training including a 2 year Meisner program and movement psychology, etc. All of that stuff is valuable and necessary to understand your craft. However, the audition room is another thing altogether and all of that training can cause you "get in your head". I initially came to BGB Studios in search of an on-camera audition practice class to get me into gear for the auditions my new reps were sending me out on. Christy Faison's class fit the bill. It's a perfect balance of pointing out where you can improve while also boosting your confidence so you can nail it in your auditions. Each week there's a different technique that is focused on. From cold reads, to action scenes, to sides where there is not a lot of character information.... It was all incredibly valuable and I used almost all of these tools in the auditions I had during my time in the class. this is more like 4.5 stars they are awesome not only do they have the years of experience to back up what thye are saying but they come at teaching acting with such a passion you cant buy that passion it cant be bottled it can only be unbottled and spread now ive always said (regardless of what subject you are trying to learn) that you should go try all sorts of systems and teachers and you will know which one is the right one for you i cant guarantee that this studio will speak to you but it did for me up down and sideways its certainly worth a try aint it? read more

I had a very difficult and lengthy audition scene to tape for a film, and was worried about the emotional prep as well as the amount of dialogue I had had to learn in a very short time. Basically, it was a white knuckle moment. The staff at BGB handled it with great sensitivity and professionalism, supporting my efforts without impeding the process, and - best of all - were patient enough to give me quite a few takes; and this with a nine minute scene. The last take was the one I sent to the director, and I booked the role the next day. Bottom line, it's because of BGB that I was able to present my best effort. I'm definitely going back as soon as I have another self-tape. Oh - also, the setting, camera work and sound are great and present you at your best. I would give them six stars if I could. I recently attended "The Audition Revolution" seminar at BGB Studio. It was an incredible weekend filled with countless insights, amazing performances, and undeniable truths. My favorite facet of this workshop was how all of the faculty at the studio seem to share the same philosophical beliefs about the work. They drilled into us over and over that bringing your unique and specific emotional life, and being in the moment are two of the most powerful ways to find fulfillment as an actor. It was amazing. The 8 week Core class is a wonderful journey for those who are wondering if acting is really for them, for those that are looking to get reinvigorated or for those (directors, producers, writers) who want to learn the language of the actor. Rachel Kimsey is a passionate actress who truly cares about her students. Just came off an eight week course and a weekend intensive and I can't say enough good things about these guys: I have worked primarily with Risa, but spent enough time with Steve and Will to form an opinion - and it's nothing but good.... These guys make it clear up front that they will not provide any 'answers' (what some teachers call the 'tricks of the trade') ... because the truth is there ARE no answers that they can come up with that will work in the long haul better than the answers you find yourself - and the work at BGB is the process through which you can discover those answers. The physical studios are great and very accessible. The atmosphere is extraordinarily friendly and supportive. If you come willing to work and play you will find a group of teachers who will do their best to facilitate your journey into discovery. This work never stops so you might as well find the best company you can to get the most out of the experience that you can. My sense right now is that BGB studios has a great formula and I'm pretty sure I'll be back for more in the near future. read more

I recently took the 8 week Audition Masterclass with Risa and I highly recommend it! The studio has such a great spirit, it is warm and inviting which allows you to relax, focus and do your best work.
