This is a great spot if you're looking to hang out with a friend and drink a couple alcoholic slushies/daiquiris. The price point is pretty reasonable and the drinks are good! The food here is definitely run-of-the-mill bar food and could probably use improvements, but like I said if you're just looking for a spot to drink at then this is a good choice. I was here with a friend on Saturday and we enjoyed our time here. The fried potato wedges were pretty good. I liked my strawberry daiquiri and my friend liked her sour apple Monster drink (...? forgetting the exact name but it's something like that). A nice spot to grab some appetizers. I only ordered potato skins as we had just left the ice cream parlor. If you are looking for adult slushies and a ton of options this place is for you. They specialize in daiquiris but I would say these drinks are more along the lines of slushies than a fruit daiquiri. They were all out decorated for Halloween when we went! Service was decent. Everyone was nice and the bartender offered us samples of 3 daiquiris before we selected what we wanted. I like the big chill. However, on Sunday for brunch, The singer was so loud that I couldn't hear myself talk at the bar. There were other people that were complaining about how loud the singer was. I approached the manager who listened and then did absolutely nothing about it. He finally stopped and that was fabulous. Then the piped music was in and it was super loud. The manager got so many people complaining about it that she finally finally turned it down. I like the food and the personnel is nice, but I will never ever be back on a Sunday when the music is so damn loud you can't hear yourself think or talk to anyone. read more

My first experience with this restaurant and the food was good. I wasn't impressed with my strawberry margarita because it tasted more like raspberry and I didn't taste the tequila. However the chicken fried chicken with gravy was great! The mashed potatoes were tasty but the deviled eggs were just okay. The broccoli was tender but lacked seasoning. I can't say enough about this place! But I will say it's wouldn't be anything without the lovely servers they have! I have only been twice and both times I have had the best restaurant experience I've ever had. Anthony was our first servers. We had brought our dog that day. He treated our fur baby as his own. Went ahead and got him water and treats. Anthony also made my experience very personable. I really loved that about him! He felt like a friend! The next server was Ben! He was so sweet to me from the start and a hard worker. But what really made me love his service was when my fiancé was having a bad cough he brought him out some hot sauce and hot water with honey and lemon! He took care of him for sure! I've been going to the Big Chill over a decade, since it was a small simple bar on Market St. Me, my brother, & his partner have considered this to be "our spot". This weekend was the first time we went back to dine in since the pandemic. We were so excited to be getting back to our spot. Then we arrived.... First, we were greeted by an aggressively written, racist sign with their "dress code". Then we were told that we couldn't be seated until our entire party arrived. The lil short heavy set hostess guy in the front was trying hard to feel authoritative over this process. I got a feeling he was trying to detour us from wanting to be there. When we finally got seated he tried to make us line up like kids so he could scan our licenses. You would've thought during the 30 mins of waiting he would've scanned as we arrived. When we got seated.. the chairs were ok. But the side of the table with a bench had shamelessly busted cushions. You'd think they'd at least pretend to patch them with black duct tape or something. Anywho, service was terrible. Our server was slow & appeared that he may have been high. It was so bad that we only had 1 drink & the food orders came out separately with huge time gaps. I think the server failed to put them all in. Bc he took our orders on the back of a receipt with a half-dried ink pen. He even took it upon himself to apologize & acknowledged that the service was bad. When we were leaving we went to walk out the back door. The main back door was blocked. So we took an alternate back door. The small, heavy hostess guy & another guy who I perceived to be a cook went out that same door. They didn't hold the doors & or acknowledge we were walking out behind them. There was a sign on the door that said "No Reentry". Me & my brother got out earlier than others in our party. So we were waiting on the steps. When the hostess guy & the "cook" went back in each pretended to press a code to get back in. The door wasn't locked though & we easily opened it to hold the doors while others in our party walked out I guess they wanted to make sure we stayed out... All this to say the Big Chill has changed drastically. I can deal with it being dated, bc that happens & we've also aged with this bar. i can even somewhat deal with slow service bc we used to come socialize & stay up to 3 hours drinking, laughing, and enjoying the staff & other patrons. BUT I can't deal with the aggressive/ distrustful/racist/ unwelcoming tone of the environment. I'm sad bc now we have to find a new spot I wish it would've maintained the same aesthetic as the lil friendly Pride bar on Market St read more

Good for quick in mad out eating or long stays with friends. So many drink choices it's hard to pick sometimes. Good selection of beer as well. The food is consistent and good , I've never had a wrong order or a bad one. It's very noisy so if you're sensitive to lots of people and noise do take note. Went out with a friend (and her friend from out of town) a couple of weeks ago for an hour or so of karaoke after my regular weekly trivia game. This was my first time here and I enjoyed myself. Good mix of people, good choice of drinks. I got a Jamaican Me Crazy which was good, but too cold. I know it's a frozen drink, but it actually hurt my stomach to drink. We did some shots and the raspberry vodka was amazing. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food. There were some AMAZING singers. We also shared the queso dip, fried pickles, and the shrimp jammers and everybody agreed that everything we got was incredible!!! Scanning my drivers license sure did take me back to start with. Why am I trying to eat at a place that needs such rules ?? Then if the "rule" that the entire party needs to be on site before you are seated , did the four topper with 2 ladies beside us turn into a cramped party of 5?
