Big Chill House on Pentonville Road

This is going to sound like a weird review to most Yelpers but as you can tell by my nick name, I'm not one to worry about being unusual. The Big Chill House gets all the stars from me because it is where I host the monthly event London Vegan Drinks. Oh yes. Come upstairs at 257-259 Pentonville Road on the third Thursday of any month and you will find over 100 vegans and their friends drinking, eating and meeting without meat. The venue is full of character and the staff members are courteous and accommodating. Lovely range of bottled beers and ciders. *UPDATE* London Vegan Drinks doesn't take place here any longer. It is now at Whole Foods Market Kensington.

Decent bar- located in a cool area near Kings Cross. We walked by and saw the big screen for the rugby but this is anything but a Sports bar. I think the best description is trendy hipster?! It's a good size with a lot of standing room and some table options. They do serve food which looked better than the normal pub food you might get elsewhere. Staff were friendly. The draft beers were pretty limited which was annoying but hey what can you do. Once the game was over... loud music came on and made it quit hard to have a conversation. The bar itself was busy and open late night. I would go back!

Relaxed vibe during the day, nice roof deck. Bartenders were very chill, and they serve a decent burger. Not much else to report.

The Big Chill House is the flagship venue of the Big Chill enterprise which has grown to include not only its fantastic record label, which helped launch world famous artists like Zero 7, but a second smaller bar venue, and an increasingly popular music venue. Like everything else associated with Big Chill, The Big Chill House aims to provide relaxation musically, physically and spiritually. Located only a short walk away from King's Cross tube station The Big Chill House isn't as large as you might expect but, depending on when you go, this can make the place feel nice and intimate. Soothing lighting and uber comfy sofas really help you to unwind. The drinks unsurprisingly are a little expensive but are of good quality and good variety. The best aspect of this club is undoubtedly the music. Every night you are pretty much guaranteed to here something a little different and I have never been dissapointed by what was on offer. Unlike other music venues I feel as if I could come here regardless of my mood.

    The roof, the roof!

The chicken strips are the best I've ever had! I got the Korean glaze sauce and it was spectacular. Tangy with a slight spice. Yum.

Drinks and music! Had fun time with friends! Personally liked the ginger cocktail! The blueberry one wasn't too bad.

Whilst it's not the most posh place I've been, it usually gets the job done well. Drinks are how you would find at most pubs, and service is decent too, given how a waitress came to ask us what we wanted and served us amidst a busy rugby game (at other times, we had gone to the bar to order ourselves). There are quite a few tv screens as well as a big home theatre-like one too, which always adds to your sports watching experience. I've never had food here before but would like to try sometime. I hear that their wings are good. Be sure to bring an ID -- as its part of a casino facility, they check your ID even if you're here only for the bar and not for gambling.

Oddly, to open a tab, you have to give them both your credit/debit card AND your driver's license/passport/ID card. They give you a "badge" which you then show every time you order, apparently so they know which tab to bill it to. A bit weird to me, but maybe that's the norm in London, or at least in high-tourist bars in London. Also, they won't let men inside if you are wearing a hat-- you must remove the hat to enter. Fortunately, once inside, I put my hat back on and didn't have a problem with anyone saying anything. Glad my hat hair didn't have to be on display!

We came across this place and decided to give it a try. We were greeted by two people at the door and invited inside. There are multiple floors that you would not expect from the look of outside. We sat on the second floor by the fireplace. There was a bar where we sat. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered some drinks and food. There was music playing but it wasn't so loud you could not hear the people you were with. The service, food, and atmosphere was great. I would definitely recommend this spot to others.

We were respectful and nonpolitical, she assumed from our ethnic backgrounds and treated us accordingly. She verbatim said she will not serve our kind. Then proceeded to tell all her bar tenders to no longer serve us. Regrettably we had to get our drinks upstairs. She went out of her way to stare at us from the top, making my mother uncomfortable. If you want a pub without employees making every thing political, this is not the spot. We do not even entertain politics, she just put us in a basket. This is the first time in my life I had to exit the pub because of the brainwashed ultra lefty employee. I love all people and people on the left, it sucks that this extremist ruined the night after spending our hard earned money. Honestly the pours were weak, the lighting was poor, and the drinks were heavily overpriced. It's some fake Irish bar.
