We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated right away. Nice dining room in a basement. We ordered drinks and waited, and waited. Finally our host came over, it had been 20 minutes no drinks. We only ordered a martini and a vodka soda. Martini's seem to confuse the English. We finally got drinks and ordered. We both had the Sunday roast. It arrived sloppy looking, the potatoes were very hot as was the gravy. The meat, veg and popover were room temperature. The meat was so thinly sliced and not very tender. A huge disappointment! Thought it would be good given the need for reservations- disappointing. The Snow Balls w/ cranberries should have been sent back- not good. Tasted like I put a dirty sock in my mouth after walking for 10 hours. The short rib sticks lacked flavor but very very tender. Service was not great. I would not recommend this place. read more

The food here had a nice combination of different types of cuisines. Their specialty seemed to be the chicken and waffles. This was our third choice as first choice was out of the specialty we wanted and second had closed their kitchen. Dirty Bones did NOT disappoint! It is what o would describe as a hip Japanese/ British fusion cuisine. Two for one happy hour from 3-6 pm on signature drinks( albeit it had to be same drink so we couldn't try different ones even though there was only $1 difference in prices). Ordered the Mutt's Nutts ( whiskey sour) and it was fantastic! Also split a classic burger, side of fries and a Crispy chicken which came with a dill dipping sauce or a teriyaki type sauce. Everything was was REALLY good. Enjoyed just chilling and the water closets are behind a bookcase moving door. read more

A super noisy place but that is a sign of a fun busy bar, right? This is in a sorta hidden location just off the main drag in the SOHO/Carnaby area. It closed at 11 PM (if I remember correctly) which is way too early but we made the most of it while there and closed the place out. We sat at the bar which most times is the best seat in the house. We had a great bartender who was nonstop busy and super friendly. Overall, it was a fun night and a great place to try. read more

Amazing place! Chicken and waffles are incredible with their syrup. Having lived in the southern US where chicken & waffles is a very popular dish, these pretty much top it all! Ducks Benedict and breakfast burger were great as well. Service was overall top notch. I came with a large group for bottomless brunch straight from the airport. The staff was friendly, accommodating, kept drinks coming, and they even made a space for all our bags! Holy moly that was delicious. American in London. Needed a place to eat and with a party of 9, was harder than expected. We tried a pub that was full, went to another that smelled like urine, and were headed to the chicken and burgers place across the street. One of our group suggested Dirty Bones, and they accommodated us at two tables. The atmosphere was cool and the food was outstanding. My husband and I each had the reverse burger, one son had a the mac and cheese burger and the other had chicken and waffles. Can't say enough how good it all was. Even the chicken and waffles - coming from a southerner, this is high praise. We got flat whites, the mini donuts and gelato as well as the cookie waffle for dessert. They were good - not exceptional. Overall, a great experience, delicious food, and would eat here again. Highly recommend! read more

When I review for my fellow yelp community, it's for the remarkably good or bad. Three things, one star for each of the three. 1) ambiance and service is skin deep, loud, soulless, sticky, and multiple tables had to beg for attention, it was comical watching other tables struggle. The three women working the tables would rather talk than work. 2) the food was as though they intentionally left taste and temperature out of the equation. Their two signature dishes, the mac burger and chicken waffle were both just so nope , I have had both before elsewhere and here it's slop. 3) They suggest reservation so I did through Google and now I have unsolicited spam from them. If you have read this far, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. read more

We chose Dirty Bones due to its proximity to the Piccadilly Theatre and are glad we did. The online reservation process was simple and they confirmed our reservation the day prior. The staff, especially Magda, were attentive and friendly, the food was excellent, and the drinks were strong. It is marketed as "American" but, as an American, I'd say the food is elevated and closer to an American - Asian fusion. The very picky eater in our group who was able to find something she liked. We saw some of the other menu offerings enjoyed at other tables and everything looked appetizing. Our group collectively had the watermelon and feta salad, mac balls, classic burgers, skinny fries, and the gelato doughnut plus cocktails. We don't typically order this much when eating out, but the portion sizes were perfect for people to share. They didn't rush us and we made it to the theatre right on time. The open windows and decor provided a fun, festive atmosphere. The playlist was fun too. read more

Attentive and attractive waittresses wielding an extensive drink menu, plus reasonably priced basic foods to keep your tummy happy. Trendy hotspots like this normally cost more. Seriously; what more do you need? If they add naked women in cages to dance to the moderately loud music, it MIGHT improve my opinion of this place - but then my wife wouldn't like it. Better not change a thing. First Chicken & Waffles we found in London, and it is GOOD! The drinks were good as well, and the Key Lime Martini - in particular - was outstanding! Located in the Kingly area off Carnaby Street on the ground floor of this open air area filled with tasty looking food options. Came in on a Friday in July, so it was a busy area. Decided on Dirty Bones because was feeling like chicken! Had the Uptown Spritz - gin, aperol, Campari, grapefruit bitters which on a hot day went down a treat! Had to ask for water and a small glass was delivered, but given London is having a heat wave, I would have thought they would have brought more, and I had to ask. Onto the main event - had the fried chicken which is 2 pieces. It was very moist and great. Coating has dill in it which was really nice. The ranch dipping sauce also good. Also had the gem salad which was not great - wilted and the gem lettuce was brown on the ends and it looked like a sad little salad. The service was ok, but having to ask for water and water refills (in mid summer during 30°c) as well as sitting for ages waiting for the bill, and having staff wander past was not great. Would I come back? Yes. But I'd try the other places in the little alley before coming here again. read more

I stopped in for a quick bite before a movie and was skeptical about the menu, particularly the tacos. However feeling brave, I ordered two types to share along with the buffalo style aubergine. I was quite impressed with all the dishes. The aubergine was unique, the right blend of spice with ranch. The fish tacos were excellent, flavourful with big chunks of fish. The fried chicken tacos were a bit spicy but good portion size. Drink menu is huge, easy to get lost or find many things to try. The pisco sour I had was tasty and refreshing. The only thing that was a total miss was the service. One waitress was terrible, waving us off to stand at the bar for minutes before drinks were even ready to be served. Then she had the audacity to argue with the table next to us about what they ordered. Good wait staff would apologize and bring them the right order. Instead it escalated to management. If they can improve their service then the food and drinks are worth returning to, along with the cool, hip hop vibe. read more

This would have been a 5-star review, my girlfriend and I went for the bottomless boozy brunch deal and the food was amazing, the service was awesome, but the DRINKS WERE WATERED DOWN!!! We went for the boozy brunch because obviously we wanted to eat some good food and get a bit drunk together, so we downed as many drinks as we could in our hour and a half. We had about 7 or 8 drinks each and by the end of it we were barely even tipsy... We are from New York and have been to quite a few bottomless brunches and would have always come out quite drunk if we had 7 or 8 drinks. It was impossible to feel as sober as we did after that many drinks from the bar... So it was obvious that our drinks had barely any alcohol in them and it was a big disappointment since we went and paid specifically for that. I wish it could have been a 5-star review... Our family of four all had amaizing meals at Dirty Bones. My wife started with the Banilla Ice drink and it was very good. We also shared the Hamburger Dumplings and Mac Balls - both of them were awesome. For our meals, we had The Mac Daddy, Chicken and Waffles, the Short Rib and the Short Rib tacos. the food was mid. they weren't serving the max daddy because they didn't want to as the waiter stated he said that they have all the ingredients but the kitchen doesn't feel like making it. the service was fine the guy seemed a bit off as if he was drunk. do beware the 12.5% tip that they add plus the £10 tax fee in total the tip and tax was a 1/3 of our check. the chicken tacos and buffalo sandwich is good but the mac and cheese balls were just horrible. overall fine but you could probably find something better like honest burgers much better selection for a cheaper price. read more

I have wanted to try Dirty Bones for a while, but after trying to get into the Carnaby St branch a few times and the wait being too long, I'd almost given up. This time I made a reservation and I'm glad I did as the restaurant was full when we arrived (3:30 on a Sunday for weekend brunch; brunch runs from 12-4). There was so much tasty stuff to choose from but in the end I decided on crumpets after a recommendation from our server, topped with short rib and eggs with a side of mac and cheese. I thought the crumpets wouldn't be enough on their own, but I was wrong! The portion size was perfect and I probably didn't need the mac and cheese, but I do always find it hard to resist, so why not?! The short rib was a delicious topping and the eggs were perfect! I would definitely order them again (after trying everything else on the menu first though!). My fellow diners tried the Mac Daddy burger which was also a pretty decent size, and overflowing with mac and cheese. You don't get any sides, so if you want fries you need to order those on top. My other friend had the short rib hash, which looked really good and a good portion too and they loved it. We were all really full after our meals so couldn't fit in dessert. Next time! Service was brilliant, staff were really friendly and even looked after my friends suitcase by the hostess stand while we dined. Good luck finding the toilets in here- look out for the bookcase.. Food was not that good. We went Online and an independent site stated happy hour was from 4-6. We aimed for 5 and then found out it ended at 5... oh well. Husband ordered the flat iron and really didn't care for it, there was nothing to it. Hes also not a fan of bone marrow. Dirty old fashioned was ok. I ordered the cheese burger dumplings for an appetizer, they were pretty gross. The wrapper was gummy. Not prepared properly.... the short ribs were very good though. Tasty and moist. Tried the mut's nuts...? Too sweet, didn't come together. If it's going to be that sweet it needs to be more stiff to make it drinkable. I asked for an extra shot and they said that wasn't possible in any capacity. Wasn't sure if that was a regulation or restaurant decision. Weird. read more

Cool little spot off of the main square if you want really good fried chicken. The chicken is brined and so the meat was tender and the skin was crispy but not too oily. Great atmosphere cozy with a window booth, dark wood and brick walls. Music was chill old school hip hop. My first trip to London and I just stumbled into this place. It's every bit as good as the reviews indicate - the Classic is decidedly different given the brisket/dry-aged beef mix, and aficionados will enjoy it. As the food is a la carte, I ordered a side salad which was terrific and greatly elevated from the usual greens order. Service was efficient and the bartender offered good options for a tourist. All hands up for DB Soho. read more
