The ego on this man made him refuse to accept or acknowledge that his behavior was unacceptable. He ended up fired, and we ended up with no DJ at our wedding. Avoid this one.

Note: we attempted to resolve this privately via email and nearly a week later, Dan has yet to…read morerespond. Firstly, if your wedding is during a Titans game, you run the risk of DJ Dan himself watching the game on his phone throughout the reception, as we were informed he was doing. Secondly, and most importantly, we explicitly asked for edited songs to be played and were assured by DJ Dan himself - both in my initial call with him and in the follow-up the days before the wedding - that he would only play unedited songs if a couple requested. And we did not. Rather, we worked to ensure that while rap and hip hop could be played later in the evening right before the send-off, that when they were played, they would only be edited versions of songs. And, yet, when rap and hip hop both played, they were unedited. This meant our 80-something year old grandparents were forced to hear "Yeah, I like to f***, I got a f***ing problem. I love bad b***ch that's my f***ing problem ... Oh baby I like it raw with a shimmy shimmy ya ... never met another mother f***er fresh like me ... Cause I'm the n****, the n**** n**** ... turn a d*ke b**ch out have her f***ing boys, beast." This prompted not only a morning of tears from my new wife, but for us to take time sending personalized emails out to about half of our wedding party - primarily to our family members traveling from out of town - who were horrified to hear those elicit words blasted at the reception, taking responsibility for having such illicit and vulgar language to be played at our reception. Don't get me wrong. Some people want that to be played at their wedding - and that's fine if it's your preference - but if you're paying someone to be the professional and they assure you multiple times they won't play unedited music, you expect that to be followed through on. Additionally, it was off putting to hear he played recent R&B during our cocktail hour, as opposed to our requested Motown/Big Band/Bing Crosby type music. That was not something we asked for and he took the liberty to change that without asking us. Ultimately, if someone is charging nearly $1000 for a service and has informed a client that only edited and non-vulgar music would be played, that commitment should be followed through on so the day after their wedding isn't spent filled with tears and time mitigating relational strain with family members. And that if he is going to make an in-the-moment decision about music, even if background music, he should check in with his clients first.  DJ Dan emailed us the day after the wedding and tried to blame the situation on being up in a crow's nest. But being closer to the floor to better communicate only would have helped cut down on the number of times my wife had to climb stairs during the reception to continually remind Dan that we didn't want unedited songs to be played. But being closer wouldn't change the choice to allow unedited songs to play in the first place - which is the opposite of what we had agreed to on the phone. During our final call with Dan, he confused us with another couple - asking me about a dance with my son. We laughed on the phone, but now I'm wondering if he confused us with another couple and may have been working off a playlist that wasn't ours (His online system is incredibly wonky and outdated. We basically built a Spotify playlist for him to play, but then didn't even get what we put on the list). Only hire Dan if you want to run the risk of having a reception that isn't what you planned and hoped for when you paid him nearly $1000.

He took charge where he was supposed to - keeping a bilingual wedding and reception on track. But he knew this wasn't the DJ Aries show. He knew the bride and groom were the stars -- so he mostly stayed in the background and kept the happy couple front and center. He did a great job with the music. Well before the wedding, he listened to input from the bride and groom and created an eclectic mix of music that was enjoyable to the wide range of guests, young and old, with just the right Latin and country twist for two far-flung families gathering in Nashville. He arrived hours ahead of time and set up using battery-powered equipment, so he would be prepared if it rained (it did). He came with a plan, but was able to pivot with no stress when details changed. DJ Aries is fluent in both English and Spanish -- and he smoothly made all announcements in both languages. He was a likeable guy, easy to get along with, and a pleasure to have at the important event. After the wedding, several guests told me how great a job the DJ did. I highly recommend DJ Aries.

We don't make a lot of money and had to cut back on a lot of the things we had originally wanted for our wedding. Steve was so amazing through the whole process and gave us so many amazing tips on everything!! My husband and I ended up over drafting our wedding bank account and Steve did not get paid, a week after our honeymoon we found out about the funds. We spoke with Steve and he was so sweet about it. He never made us feel guilty about it and was so wonderful about helping us figure out a payment. He even went as far as driving over an hour out of his way to pick up the funds so we didn't have to pay gas out of our pocket. Steve was so helpful during the entire planning and made us feel more important than just a "paying client". He was easy to get a hold of when we had questions. Everyone at our wedding still talks about how great the music was and how nice our DJ, Steve was. Steve also did our lights which look amazing in all of the photos!! I highly recommend this company and plan on using them in the future! :)

My only disappointment was that I did not book them for my engagements. I got my photos back in a timely manner (six weeks) and was able to get them printed for Christmas gifts! Aaron, Austin, and their third shooter did such a great job of capturing the day (in late October) and the venue's theme that we were going for (country chic). Our wedding was at Green Door Gourmet and the way they captured the barn, the arbor, and the changing leaves was just so artistic and beautiful. I appreciated their eye for detail (hardy har) and their listening to my husband and I to see what other shots we wanted. They were always checking to be sure that we got what we envisioned as well as adding their own creative shots. Details would be a great choice for anyone wanting photographers that will take the wedding day and give you back images that aren't cookie cutter, but unique and individualized. Thank you Details. I can not say enough good things about this company. From the top down, this is one of the hardest working organizations I have ever come across. They are relentless in their pursuit of greatness. Their staff are well-trained with great attitudes and will go above and beyond every time. Here's one of the many examples I have of why I love working with Details: We were doing a wedding in front of the Parthenon for a professional football player with many high profile guests. Moments before the guests were to walk in, the ramp to the bar/lounge area broke. I had not hired the rental company who built it, nor had Details. But while I went to the front of ramp to prevent anyone from getting hurt, one of the Details staff, who was working as one of my servers, took off his dress shirt and tie, army crawled under the stage that was built for the bar area, fixed the ramp with whatever he could find, army crawled back out, put his dress shirt and tie back on, washed his hands and went back to serving. The ramp worked perfectly for the rest of the evening, and the server went on to provide flawless service the rest of the evening. From then on, I have not stop singing the praises of Details Nashville!

I didn't want to go the negative review route, but I find myself here since Randy Spencer wanted to hold a credit against a future date this year, no refund. I went under contract about two months before our sweet friends wedding as a gift to this young couple. The date notated is March 19th, which is about when my deposit was processed. Then the world shut down and the kids wedding reception slated for May 2nd, didn't happen. When I hired Nashville DJ- Randy Spencer, he was flexible and fluid to work with. He took a $100 deposit, but has since refused to refund the $100 after the kids had to cancel. Out of curiosity I contacted Nashville Party Authority (whom I've used in the past) to see what their refund policy is under these extraordinary circumstances and Blair, (the owner) said they give 100% refund. He also said his company doesn't process deposits in advance in case there is a cancellation and for this very reason. SO, BUYERS BEWARE.
