We also support business networks, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, cameras, and other connected equipment. Services include configuration, firmware updates, health monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Established in 1999.
BitworksIT began more than 25 years ago as The Bitworks—a one-person, part-time business operated from founder Matt Sonnentag’s home. What started with computer repair and hands-on technical assistance grew into a full-service IT company serving individuals and businesses across the region.
As technology became more critical to daily business operations—and security threats became more serious—the company’s role had to change. BitworksIT moved away from a retail, transaction-based computer repair model and toward long-term, proactive relationships with business clients.
Today, BitworksIT provides managed IT support, cybersecurity protection, network management, monitoring, and technology planning for small and midsized organizations throughout Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. The business model has changed, but the original purpose remains: provide practical guidance, dependable support, and technology that helps clients succeed.
Meet the Business Owner: Matthew S.
Matt founded The Bitworks in 1999 after building a career that included PC service, mainframe systems administration, data communications engineering, support management, IT architecture, and executive leadership.
Since then, he has successfully helped people and businesses use technology more effectively while guiding the company through more than 25 years of industry change. That experience led to the company’s evolution from traditional computer sales and repair into BitworksIT, a business-focused provider of managed IT and cybersecurity services.
Matt’s approach is straightforward: understand the business first, explain risks and options clearly, and recommend technology only when it serves a practical purpose. He especially enjoys helping business owners explore ideas, solve difficult problems, and make sound technology decisions.
