It was in the middle of a hellacious rainstorm, so the ferry ride was definitely "lively". 4Pines Brewpub was the closest brewery to the quay, so I made a run for it and was greeted with a nice beer selection (did a flight #natch ), friendly staff, ample seating (w/a view), and respite from the storm. It was a great way to say g'day to beer in Oz! I took a seat on the beautiful patio and ordered a cider and a salade niçoise and a fondant au chocolat for dessert. The food was fantastic. The salad was great and had that bright, salty bite you expect from salade niçoise. Two complaints though are that the portion was quite small and the pricing was quite high. My dessert was also quite good. Creamy, chocolatey, and just the right amount of sweetness without going overboard. The food paired with the Manly Beach people watching was a great experience and start to a nice beach day.

We were not fans, and only ate half of them. They were fried well, and super crunchy. But they were very battery and oily, without really any onion flavor. I highly recommend this place for takeaway! There are only two small tables outside, one table inside right by the kitchen and about two or three bar stools near a ledge to eat by. We were only able to eat in by sharing the inside table with another pair. I would definitely come back though, especially when hungover. The flatbread was tasty but hard to cut through and eating it by hand was messy. I asked for a steak knife to cut it, which finally came when I was about finished. My friend liked her chicken but couldn't remember what it came with. It seemed to be cabbage, which she decided wasn't her thing. The website for the restaurant wasn't operational so we couldn't reference the menu that way. Our server never came back to check on us, but the host briefly did.
