It feels a bit weird writing a public review of a secret spot...but I can't gatekeep this spot! The Blind Pig Speakeasy was one of our favorite spots while in Ireland, and it ranks high on our list for several reasons! They are situated in the base of a sister restaurant, so from the main entrance the only give away is the neon "shhh" sign that sits over the stairway. Once at the base of the stairs an unassuming bookcase/shelf appears. This honestly got us, as we had no clue this was the entrance at first. We wandered around and into the bathrooms expecting some cool bathroom stall entrance. It wasn't until someone came out from behind the bookcase that we figured it out! We did let the "door" close and played with the art on the wall, including the bronze pig head, which turned out to be the hidden lever! Legit already wowed before entering! Upon entry, you are legit transported into a small speakeasy with a few high tops, a cozy bar and a small dining room beyond the second archway. The walls are stone, the lighting is dim and moody, the woods are heavy, and the vibes are immaculate! We sampled a few house-made cocktails, got an appetizer and a few main dishes. Spent a total of close to 2 hours, which is standard and actually timed. Which makes sense and I like, it keeps things moving, on time and allows plenty of time to soak it all in! The Jolly Roger and Espresso Martini were my cocktails for the night. There was a clear theme with both, as stout and espresso were highlights in both. For the app, we went with the fritto misto, which is a combination of fried cheese and veggies. Our mains were both pasta dishes. They were light and simple, yet complex and robust. They were tasty and impressive! Service was stellar from entry to exit. The host's, bartenders and our server were all top notch, friendly, helpful and a joy to interact with! Oh, I do highly recommend reservations! They are a small and very in demand spot, so trying to walk-in is a bit risky. Overall, we absolutely loved our evening at The Blind Pig! It was one of our best times and meals on our trip around Ireland...memorable for all the right reasons! read more

A place where magic drips down from the ceilings, along the walls to the floor, creating a pure and poignant place of gastronomical and mixological wonderment. The Blind Pig was a splendid find that came unexpectedly. A speakeasy with a deadly drink menu and an array of culinary delights to match, The Blind Pig is one special place if you can find the place. And believe me, we almost didn't. We had been trying to figure out where we were going to eat for supper -- having walked all over Temple Bar and not finding anything for which we were in the mood. Until my lady discovered there was a speakeasy nearby... and one with a hidden entrance that you needed to make a reservation to receive directions to enter via email. Being unable to contact the speakeasy through the website, we decided to try and find this spot. After 30 minutes, we started to grow a little deterred until a staff member -- who shall remain nameless (his name is Frederi--) -- from the establishment serving as a front told us where we needed to go. To our joy, we were allowed into the speakeasy where a table had become available miraculously allowed us to drink and dine. We weren't sure if they would let us in. We didn't have a reservation and may have been killed and dumped in a whiskey barrel to float out to sea for attempting. But when we pulled on the pig... (wink, wink, nudge, nudge), we found the entrance, and the greeter appeared. With arched, stone-walled ceilings, close intimate table seating, as well as intimate lighting, this speakeasy is quite a find that has a cave-like and hidden feel. The bar area across from where we sat on high tables, we watched the bar area across from us where we had the cool and fun experience of watching the mixologists make the various drinks. Towards the front entrance of the speakeasy, there was a little stage area with pink-purplish lighting where they either have table seating or, as the night goes on, have a musician play ragtime music or ragtime covers of modern songs. The Blind Pig offers some killer drinks and cuisine to match. I enjoyed drinks named Bon Bon, Aviation, and Ireland & Company. All were truly magical and joyous. I ordered the duck confit, which was lovely, along with some truffle fries served with a garlic mayo dip. The drinks were incredible; I will add, handcrafted and full of happiness. The desserts are also delicious, as I had a truly magical chocolate mousse; very magical. Given this was our last night in Dublin, combined with our penchant for speakeasies, spirits, and cocktails, The Blind Pig, was the perfect place to conclude our festivities and travels. Rarely do you find such a bonafide speakeasy, with an actual hidden entrance and location, which delivers in both libations and cuisine. If you are visiting or living in Dublin, you need to visit this spot -- if you can locate it. The drinks are grand. The cuisine is class. And the ambiance is divine. read more

Even the bar seats were reserved, but I was given about an hour to have a small bite (the prosciutto was delicious) and try a couple of whiskeys. I've been to my fair share of speakeasies, and this one, I think, is among the coolest! I won't spoil it, but look for the pig figurine at the bottom of the stairs. I think they serve pizza in the back, though we didn't peruse the food menu. There was also live music playing for a stretch, which was lovely. We ordered three cocktails and split them.
