Once we did, they pivoted to accommodate us, which regrettably was upstairs away from the main bar, which was unfortunate given it was their mistake. Hands down. Best meal in Dublin. When visiting, you need to make a reservation here! My friends and I loved finding this restaurant and walking through the book case doors! The staff was super helpful and so kind! We all ordered drinks from the bar from their HUGE cocktail menu. I got a caramel lemon drink called "the bon bon." The drinks are all about €11-15, so a little expensive but you are in a city. For dinner, we all had the burger and my one friend had their pasta. The burger was fantastic. It was cooked perfectly and was paired with an excellent garlic mayo. The fries were super crispy and delicious as well. I loved the entire meal. My friend loved her creamy pasta as well. I wouldn't call this a speakeasy per sé. Sure, you have to make reservations and in your confirmation email, you are given directions to the bar/restaurant. But it's hardly secret, if that's what the intent is. You can see the entrance from the street. And it wouldn't take anyone long to figure out how to get in. The atmosphere is a little cosy, but not too terribly comfortable. It's quite small, as I assume it's supposed to be as a speakeasy. I imagine it would get quite loud as the night wears on - I went early and didn't have this issue. The drinks are decent and the food is good from what I had. But, in my honest opinion, it's not worth going out of your way for. There's plenty of good food and drink in Dublin to be had without all the secrecy. read more

We found this place on accident and it was fate!! This is the coolest speakeasy I've ever been to. Getting in is tricky, which makes it feel so secret & sneaky! Once inside, the atmosphere is just so cool. It's tiny, dark, almost like you're in a secret cave. It's exactly what a speakeasy should be. Reservations are a must for dinner, but we were able to sit at the bar for drinks without them. Our cocktails were fantastic. I ordered their take on a mule & they served it with a rubber duck- LOVE. My husband got the Source Water, a fruity cocktail and he loved it. We loved sitting at the bar so we could watch the bartender work & chat a bit. This adorable speakeasy is located inside an Italian restaurant. It is super cozy and lit by candle light. There are only a few tables, which makes it feel exclusive. The walls are covered in stone/brick, making it feel like you are dining in a romantic cave. The small group I was with tried a bunch of different menu items and cocktails. The cocktails are a bit pricy but most were worth it. We had the E.M.M.A.- ask what it stands for and you will get a good laugh!- which was the best of the drinks. Memory lane was the least favorite and not really that great of a drink, while The Professor and the Mr Harty were very good. For food, we started with fried mozzarella, which was perfectly crisp and had a delicious marinara dipping sauce, and a soup. For mains, we had the pumpkin tortelloni (the best of the four). The ravioli was the perfect texture, had a delicious pumpkin filling, and a slightly sweet cream sauce. We had the burger and fries (real thin French fries), which was well seasoned, but over-cooked for our liking. We like our burgers medium and they cooked it well done, which made it a little dry- but to that end, we should have requested it medium when we ordered. We tried the Scugnizzi, a white pizza, which was decent but slightly lacking in flavor and crust crispness. It felt like something was missing from the pizza. Finally, we had another tortelloni dish with mushrooms. It was good, but could have been more flavorful. The service was really great, especially with only a few people on staff running everything. Overall, we had a really good experience and would recommend it for the speakeasy experience and fun cocktails. read more

I ordered the Time to Wake Up! and my boyfriend got the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch with the Ending. The drink was really good, but it did take a while to receive the beverages. What a unique find! If you like bougie craft cocktails, good food, and good music, this is the place for you. All of the drinks are phenomenal, and the food is super tasty. You have to call to figure out where it is, but it's worth it. Also be sure to make a reservation! We got lucky walking in when we did that we got a table but it did fill up as the night went on. So, prob more like 2.5 but we'll round up. It was expensive, as speakeasies are wont to be. The access part - the absolute best part of the true speakeasy - was a bit of a let down. It was right at the bottom of the steps, by the bathrooms, and you could hear EVERYTHING through the fake shelves so it wasn't really all that secret. The atmosphere wasn't too great either. Looks wise it was nice with low, arched brick ceilings and dim lighting, but it was SO LOUD. It was quite jarring to be in this dark, romanticly lit place and have to scream at my dining partner to be heard. And the acoustics made the din almost painful. I opted for a pasta dish that was ok. Not as good as it should have been for the price. The cocktail was too sweet. Service was fine, nothing special. First off, let me say I was surprised I could even get 4 of us into this place last minute. I got reservations 2 days ahead of time at the bar for drinks. The individual I exchanged emails with was extremely helpful and the communication was on point. The directions were easy to follow as well. We showed up and were immediately taken in and shown to our seats, were a fantastic bartender explained his menu and helped us with all the options. The drinks were fantastic. I mean I can't even put into words the art that went into these 4 drinks. Honestly the only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because when we got there the door to the speak easy was stuck open and it wasn't as fun as we hoped. So, my introduction to this place was a cryptic, convoluted and darn confusing message. So naturally, I was intrigued. Note: you will not get in without two separate door codes, so don't try. We found the alleyway entrance and made our way in. Made our way past the bins and ventilation systems before finding the second door. We then crept down the rickety stairs and found a red door. And then AN ACTUAL (ish) SPEAKEASY! Complete with snappily dressed bar staff, amazing art on the walls, a DJ and of course booze! The place is small, two rooms is the extent of it and there's barely chairs for twenty people but there is a dance floor. It was a great night, made just that bit more special by the intriguing directions. Everyone had a fantastic time, the staff were wonderful and went above and beyond for our gathering. You can book the entire venue if you can promise to fill it for the night. It would be perfect for '20s themed parties, and a great size for 50-75 people, any more and you'd be jammed. We were seriously underwhelmed by Blind Pig last night. I've been wanting to try this place for months, and I finally got the opportunity to check it on on my triple hen do last night. My friend had made a reservation a month in advance, and once we entered (typical speakeasy style entrance through some alley and down a flight of stairs) they tried to shuffle us to sit at the bar. There was a Lovin Dublin event that night, so the staff actually told us we could only stay for a maximum of 45 minutes...even though we booked a month in advance. Okaaayy. Only when we requested did we actually get a table so we could talk, and they passed around menus that come in a large old book. The cocktails are actually really hard to find in the books, as they're spread about every couple hundred pages or so. I got the Easy Street, which was a cucumber elderflower cocktail that I loved. Weirdly enough, I tried to order another and they said they couldn't, they didn't have any more ingredients. The bartender made me something somewhat comparable, but it was odd that they could run out of ingredients on a Saturday night at like 11 pm. My other friends didn't love their cocktails, and one said the Old Fashioned had far too much sugar so she had to order another and request less sugar. It was pretty disappointing, a solid 3 star experience. Cocktails were ok, service was mediocre and we were shuffled out of the table (that we had to request..when we had a booking) in less than an hour. I likely won't be back. read more

Reservation system/process: rating of 5 Made a reservation for 2 for cocktails at the Blind Pig. Received an email confirmation shortly and a reminder email confirmation of the reservation. On the day of the reservation, a lovely lady called me a few hours earlier to confirm that I will be showing up for the evening. Getting there experience and bar atmosphere: rating of 4 Getting there was an experience that I will always remember. It seems so underground for a lack of a better word. I shall not spill the beans on this one as you have to savour it for yourself. Apparently the Blind Pig comprises two levels. We stayed on the ground floor and didn't go up to the second floor as we were there just for cocktails. The deco of the bar/ground floor is underground, secretive, and has a hush hush atmosphere. The menu is concealed in a book on the table. I didn't know that and asked for the menu. A waitress kindly informed me that the book is the menu. Lighting is provided by a tealight candle on the table. It was hardly enough to read the menu for me. I shone my mobile phone against the menu to have a better read of the menu. The cocktails itself: rating of 4.5 My partner and I ordered a Green Park and Millionaire #4. They were unlike anything I have tasted before. Very creative concoctions. The Green Park has a taste of cucumber, I thought, which is actually celery instead - very interesting! The Millionaire #4 is sweet, conjures images of cigar clubs, etc as I was drinking it. The customer service: rating of 0 (or negative rating if there is ever such a thing) About 15 minutes after we were served the cocktails, the waitress whom we placed the order with came to our table and said to my partner "Pizza bread for you?" He replied "Not for me." The waitress then turned to me and smiled. I said "No, we are going for dinner later. I suppose that can be my starter." The waitress smiled and then left the pizza bread next to me. About 15 to 20 minutes later, the same waitress above came to our table and said "You didn't order the pizza bread. It is another table's. You ate it. You have to pay for it." or words to that effect. I was upset by the tone used by the waitress and was furious at myself that I was stupid enough to believe that the pizza bread was complimentary and stupidly ate it and then was honked at by a waitress who said that we are in the wrong and have to pay for the bread because I ate something that we thought was complimentary. Anyhow, my partner asked to speak to a guy at the bar and explained the situation. The man was very cool and said "No, you didn't order it, so it's not a problem. You don't have to pay for it." or words to that effect. And yes, we weren't charged for the pizza bread in the final bill/check. Summary - We placed an order for 2 cocktails only with a waitress. - The same waitress left the pizza bread on our table even though we said no and other words to that effect. It just proved that she wasn't listening at all to us. - She made a mistake and used a nasty tone to speak to us and demanded that we pay for HER mistake. - Cocktails were really lovely. However, my original plans to bring my friends and family to the Blind Pig are now dropped. I'm never returning to the place because of the incident above. read more

I was really excited about trying this place while visiting Dublin for the first time. The concept was there and it was cool with having a password and secret code to get into the gate. Even when we got down do the dining room it felt very much like a speak easy type place. After 30 minutes of waiting for our server to stop flirting with a single woman at another table to come take our order, it took another 30 minutes to get our food. When we did finally get our food, we asked what the sauces were that came with our steak. Our servers response was "they are made in the kitchen upstairs, I don't know", which is reassuring if I were to have a food allergy. When we finished our meal (which was ok) it took another 30 minutes to get our bill and another 15 minutes to pay it. When we left we went out the front door at the top of the stairs that was connected to another restaurant that was owned by the same person who owned the Blind Pig. After looking at that menu, it was clear that not much thought went into the blind pig menu as a lot of the dishes were the same. read more

Awesome experience! We went in on Thursday night and they were booked, but sent us right down the hall to make reservations for the next day. We (all 6 of us!) were booked at the bar. We had an incredible experience. The cocktails - a mix of classics and specialties off their intriguing menu - were all spectacular. The bartenders even let us try liquors to help us make better choices. They were also so pleasant and welcoming while interacting with us. The only caveat is that you MUST make a reservation. So I really wanted to love this place....but it didn't quite live up to the hype. Upon arrival I was very impressed with the whole entry experience and the place was really cool inside. The server led us inside and after asking two ladies to move down a few seats informed us that we could all sit at the bar. Given that there were 7 of us and I had made the booking a full month in advance I was a bit perplexed why they thought this would be an acceptable solution. At any rate, I told him we would prefer a table and after a few minutes they found a small table that we could all squeeze around. Next came the drinks. You would think that a speakeasy would have a huge selection but I was shocked at the limited number of options. For my first drink I had an Old Fashioned and it was a little too sweet but still pretty good. Next up was a Manhattan and despite the pretty presentation, it was one of the strangest and worst Manhattans I can remember. For some reason it tasted like a watered down Coca-Cola. This is a must see in Dublin... But only for those who are visiting after the 2nd or 3rd time. This isn't something you'd want to see if it was you first time here. I say this because it's just okay... Okay would translate in to amazing if you had already been to the pubs in Temple Bar and had seen the way the Irish do nightlife. The food is beautiful, but... If they would just turn the heat down it might be gorgeous. My date ordered the pork medallions, and they were a bit too dry. Maybe it was the cut of the loin that was too lean, but it just wasn't what was expected. The chicken was nice, it was beautifully served and surprisingly not dry at all. If I had salt on the table I would have added it but it was still nice. Drinks were great, dessert was to be expected. What made this place a 4 star was the experience. I went on Friday night with 3 other girls for 'Dine In The Dark' €60.00 a head for the food with no drinks outrageous not even water with the meal the meal was awful, to say the least, couldn't eat much of it at all we had to stop on the way home to get something to eat the atmosphere was good because of the company I was in. then to add insult to injury the barman handed me a bill for over €76 when I called him he said sorry he added someone else drinks to my bill (ya Right) we where nearly overcharged for drinks twice and had to pull the barman it might be dark but thank goodness we are not stupid.
