The ambiance is very sports bar like, but also very Irish bar inside as well. We specifically went for the UCONN March Madness sweet sixteen and The Blind Rhino did NOT disappoint. We had to wait 20 minutes for our table, and we expected that due to the basketball game. We were glad it was happening in there and the vibe was set. Our waiter was on point despite the crowd and was very knowledgeable and also patient as we had a hard time deciding because everything looked amazing. We had sweet potatoe bites, cheese steak egg rolls, and for wings we went with togarashi brown sugar, maple chipotle, and lemon pepper ranch. The togarashi brown sugar wing was killer. When I told the manager they did nothing and security actually threatened me. I ordered the Mc Rhino burger(2 thin beef patties,American cheese,minus pickled onions, sriracha thousand island sauce). The burger was a little overcooked but it was very flavorful. The thin pickles gave it a kick. The sriracha thousand island sauce was the cherry on top. The server was very nice! Did someone say the best chicken wings in Connecticut? Well I am here to try it for myself. I ordered the Mango habanero and Plum sriracha wings. The wings came out nice and crispy. The Mango Habanero was on the sweeter side and the sauce was pretty tasty. The Plum sriracha wings were sweet and spicy. The plum flavor gave the spiciness a nice blend. Although both flavors were great my preference was the Plum sriracha. Drinks were also pretty good and went well with the wings. I ordered the jalapeño guava margarita it had a nice spicy blend that was not overwhelming. I also tried the Mango Margarita and it was also prepared very well with a nice mixture. I tried to make sure my drinks complemented my wings. The bar had a nice neighborhood atmosphere with their regulars sitting at the counter. On the sight says the wings will be the two styles when you pick it up, It wasn't . They were plain.and put the sauses on side. If I knew this was going to happen I would rather buy my wings at stews or another supermarket than this place. The wings were meaty was only positive. I booked my reservation week and a day from the event my wings were done at 415 when they told me it would be ready at 4. I remember Blind Rhino existed today because of a food festival. Such a shame because there is a decent food, but I witnessed their bartender be outright rude to customers sitting at the bar who for lack of a better word were not pretty girls. He was visibly frustrated that men were asking for drinks and interrupting HIM flirting with random girls he was creeping on. I haven't been back in a year, but went about 10 times before that. Felt like an awkward vibe and even though that bartender never treated me directly poorly or knows I would post this, I don't trust the overall staff at this point. If someone that rude sticks around and multiple customers bring it up at the bar (a few times...) to me? He is either a friend of the owner or the owner / manager doesn't care about having really bad staff. If you really love the food, get the wings to go. I've been coming here damn near since day 1 and way before they started racking up trophies for their delicious wings, so I'm a bit biased, but this is easily the one of the most reliable options in the Norwalk and my go-to for wings. I give credit to this bar for developing my taste of craft beer because they have an ever changing draft list of beers from all over. If you don't want beer, they have a solid cocktail list that I recommend you not stray too far away from. The wings are the star here. I don't know what type of special technique they're doing here, but it's magic. They've got some unique flavors like Togarashi Brown Sugar rub (my fav and a MUST TRY), Honey Buffalo (second fav), and North Carolina BBQ. I've even seen rotating special flavors like pina colada & duck sauce. The rest of the menu is also stellar with choices like, pretzels, pork nachos, and burgers. There's a 'daily special' type of menu that I look forward to because they offer limited time food and drink options which keeps things fun and interesting for a regular like myself. Service here is great and the staff are always down to let you sample beer which is why I credited them earlier. What I learned is that their wings have actually won some awards for best wings, at some pretty great competitions. That was a surprise to me. So my friends and I got the 30 wings including buffalo, teriyaki, and barbecue. I was very impressed with these wings, hot, fat, and full of flavor. I loved the barbecue the best of the group of them. As always, their french fries are the best around, and I enjoyed those hot, crunchy things. I've been or ordered from here a few times, but only during COVID. I've had their boneless buffalo wings (which are slightly hard to find in this area), and they are good. Other food can bit a bit hit or miss, but nothing terrible by any means. My first visit here was a few weeks ago with a small group. We were properly distanced from other tables, and they were clearly following all safety protocols. Service was a bit delayed, but there didn't seem to be much staff working, so we understood. I was there for an event. Their fryer is not GlutenFree and even breads go onto the grill with chicken and other items. This is NOT SAFE for people with Celiac Disease. Two of us were there yesterday for an event and nothing that was listed as GlutenFree was really truly GF. They made us a salad and we had some carrot sticks and other raw veggies. (That was all I ate.) We both GOT SICK. Yes. We both got sick. Ruined my evening. Do NOT eat here if you have Celiac Disease. A lot of things are marked 'glutenfree' on the menu but they are not. Came for Father's Day for the wing ratings. First, I'd like to applaud the service, they were highly attentive and so friendly which we know makes or breaks a restaurant experience. We LOVE us a good wing so we ordered; Togarashi dry rub Spicy Buffalo Plum Sriracha (he sensed we were wing peeps and he brought these even though we didn't order them) I will say the wings were cooked well and they are a perfect size. I wasn't impressed by flavors though. The dry rub to me was lacking rub it tasted like it was just rolled lightly in brown sugar. The spicy Buffalo had a good kick but same it was lacking flavor. The Plum sriracha ended up being my favorite those I'd go back for. Fried chicken sandwich was a chicken cutlet which I expected to be traditional fried chicken which was ok. Came with sweet potato tots which were very good and tasted homemade! The McRhino was yummy, I loved the bread and had good flavor but was dripping oil. If I could give them a zero, I would. Went there to watch the Michigan, Iowa playoff game, and the manager of the restaurant was incredibly unaccommodating. Tried to stand near the bar in between two counter top tables that were spaced far apart. Not blocking any flow and neither table minded us being there (one actually invited us to sit with them). But the manager insisted we move. So we did....we left. Never coming back. It's a bar, it's supposed to be fun and accommodating but that's not the vibe we experienced. read more
