So I came here for Sunday football last weekend and I'm glad I found this spot. The place was pretty packed and thought it was going to take forever to grab a beer and food but our bartender Doug was awesome and got served right away. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. After having traveled back to new Canaan to visit old friends after now moving away from the town, myself (and others) were all denied entry because "we didint posses ids from the tri state". Wow. Is that even legal to do? I explained to the bouncer that I spent from 4th grade all the way through high school in this town and he still wouldn't accept my id (which is from Massachusetts now because my family moved). Instead of denying legally aged consumers because their id isn't from the tri state, worry about all of the 19 year olds with the fake Connecticut ones you seem to let slip by. If your coming with friends from outside of the tri state, DO NOT COME HERE. Instead, your better off going to uncorked and tequilla mockingbird where they won't discriminate against what state you live in. read more

I pointed it out to the friendly bartender and she said she would let "them" know. She didn't offer an alternative or solution. Went to White Buffalo last night for dinner with my dad and had a blast! Such a great atmosphere: warm, welcoming, and full of energy. We ordered the soft pretzels and had two truly stellar hot dogs, each packed with delicious toppings. Can either order off the menu or build your own hot dog w/ toppings of your choice. The White Buffalo is now the place to go for an adult drink in New Canaan. The staff is super friendly and the jukebox is one of these new-dangled cloud-based contraptions that has every song ever made. It is clear that the food is a work in progress but it seems to be getting better and you don't go just for the food. For any televised sporting event, you would want to be here to watch. Fun bar with an interesting mix for a crowd, from townies to cougars on the prowl. Loved that they had Sip of Sunshine on tap. The food is good but takes a back seat to the bar, which is the main reason people seem to pack the place. Hot dogs with a multitude of toppings that you can build your own or order one of their own creations. The wings are very much on the small side, but are quite tasty. I enjoyed the hot pretzel that comes with mustard or cheese for dipping. Also--they have Zuppardi's personal pizzas and anyone who has been to the West Haven original knows that it doesn't get much better than Zupp's. While these smaller versions don't have the punch that the original does, they're still better than most other places in the area. Service can be better and will get better as time goes on and I wish they had some more drinking options for the kids other than soda. All told...a very nice addition to the town drinking--I mean dining--scene. read more
