I give blood on a regular basis. Twice recently the mobile unit has not showed up. Today was the second time. I called TBC multiple times only to hear "the current wait time is one minute". Several minutes go by and then the call drops. I also left voicemails, but based on other reviews I don't expect to hear back. I have been donating blood for many years. In my prior location I never had any issues with the American Red Cross. I wish they had a presence in the Greenville area. read more

Staff was efficient, I had an appointment, but they were just taking people on the basis of who showed up and not caring about appointments. I have never gotten any feedback when I sent them a question using their online form. The process its self was quick and efficient. They took me in half an hour after my scheduled time, but the donation and paperwork process took only 15 minutes. read more

Number one I would leave a zero if I could. I would highly recommend not using this place. Come to find out nobody needs to find out hemoglobin with bloodwork because you do not need a needle for that. They will put something on your thumb just to find out. I donate as often as I can (all my life) but TBC has so many uncorrected flaws that I may find another place to donate. I went to their mobile bus today to give blood. After having to complete a questionnaire for the 2nd time, I was told to go into a room. The tech said, "your arm," wanting to take my blood pressure. Then she said "your finger." She didn't explain why we were going into the room. She didn't say "Let's take your blood pressure." She didn't say "I need to prick your finger." Well let me say I just went through some racial profiling and problems. I just got here at blood connection and it's been raining hard and I was 25min late. Per Caitlyn she said the cutoff is at 815. Then she has no badge on and tells me she's the supervisor in the video. She says to me it shouldn't take me that long to get here and she knows where I stay. I'm shocked she even said that. Here's the part that gets me, she had an attitude and everything. I never seen her before. She even stated to me, be quiet so I can talk. That's where it made me feel even more uncomfortable. This might be a more racist place I seen in a minute. You can't talk hire all the black people you want, but let me say this. Why is there only one black supervisor in this place. I've been coming to this place when they open. I've been giving blood to the blood connection since the 90's. They couldn't even squeeze me in and it's about I called on another employee in the past. They do stick up for each other. I received more than 7 text messages this month asking me to donate for a $110 gift card. I finally got donate and I get a $40 gift card instead. I verified with staff that I would still get the promotion because I drove 2 hours to go do it and when I got there I saw the sign that says $40 and they said that was for walk up people or those who don't have my preferred blood type of O negative. I get back home and my account only has $40 worth of points. I contact customer service asking them to correct it and they said because I didn't go on the day of the text message it didn't count for the promotion. The Blood Connection is a badly run organization. It does not answer its phones nor return messages. It offers rewards and then does not provide them. The app does not work at all and the website is not much better. Employees are disengaged and looking to work elsewhere (see Glassdoor, Indeed reviews, etc.). I give blood in coastal SC and in Western NC. The operators in coastal SC are excellent but I need to find an alternative in WNC because I will not give blood through Blood Connection again (a shame because I'm 0-). read more

Absolutely recommend nothing about TBC. Their staff at the woodruff center never know what they're doing, and when they do, they're very rude. I have never been a fan of the staff that work for this company, mainly due to the fact with how they speak to their donors who are coming in to donate, as well as how the staff also gets treated by their higher ups. read more

I would highly recommend donating blood, platelets, or plasma at the blood connection on Woodruff Road. The staff is always incredibly friendly and makes the time go by quickly. They always remember who I am and ask how I'm doing. They are always accommodating when I might be a little short on time. They're also a wealth of knowledge. I've learned so much about the donation process, the reasons to donate, outside of the obvious, and how good it is for our bodies when we donate blood. Occasionally, the wait can be rather long. The staff has always been very apologetic when this happens. It's always helpful to have a appointment when donating. I have A+ blood therefore donating plasma is the best use of my blood type. The staff is very familiar with helping you figure out which donation would be best for you blood type. Of course, any sort of donation Is very helpful. The staff always thanks me and I always hear them thank others for taking the time to donate. Donating blood literally can take as little as 15 minutes from the time you sit down to donate and to the time you leave. All of us have 15 minutes to give. They've changed bigtime! From now on it's the Red Cross! TBC says they'll pay you for your blood then they'll stiff ya! My wife and I both donated blood because we received an email saying that we'd get $120 for our blood type. They didn't say that $25 would go back to facility where the drive was taking place. All of a sudden who ever owned the parking lot where the mobile unit was had a say what was to happen to a portion of my reward. Found this out by email because you can no longer get TBC on the phone. Also, their blood draws hurt bigtime. Especially from the onestgey put on those mobile units. I haven't donated blood since high school. Not because I didn't want to but because I've never been asked and didn't understand the need. After visiting the blood connection mobile that travels around Greenville I decided to make this positive experience a habit. The workers were so friendly and detailed about the process that I felt comfortable and informed. The wait was short and from start to finish, less than 45 minutes. This location is beautiful, bright, comfortable, clean, and friendly. The chairs are lounge style which is nice and the view while donating is a lush garden with birds and flowers. I love that I have my temperature and hemoglobin checked, my blood tested, and enjoying snacks all for a good cause. They sent me a card in the mail with my blood type which I didn't even know what it was! Then I logged into their website after I was informed of the points system. I was able to redeem gift cards to Target, Walmart, and other chain restaurants. They even offer specials with tickets to the movies, water park, and free tshirts. This really is a win-win situation. At that point, they still hadn't called me back, but they called numerous people back who arrived long after I got there, and when I asked about it, the front desk lady gave me an attitude. This is a great facility. Staff is helpful and personable. You come in a clean building , sit in a recliner , watch HULU or NETFLIX, and then your done. Here is the letter I am sending to the Greenville location today: Please remove my name and contact information from your solicitation lists. I will not be donating blood there in the future. According to your records, I have donated 13 gallons of blood in my lifetime. In recent years I have become more and more frustrated with your inability to process me efficiently or quickly, and have left your donation center on at least one occasion before today because I have been unable to wait to be processed because of other commitments. I am employed and quite busy and often do not have excessive time to wait. I live in Landrum, a long way from your facility, and my office is on the other side of town from you, so it is an effort to come by to donate. Because I have been frustrated in the past, I have tried scheduling appointments and filling out the questionnaire on line to speed up my visits there. Today, I scheduled an appointment and filled out the questionnaire before I got to your facility. I then waited for an hour and 15 minutes without being processed. I left today without donating, and was probably somewhat rude to your staff. I was not loud or profane but was not pleasant when I left. I sincerely apologize if I was rude and recognize that your staff is not directly responsible for my frustration. However, when I called to schedule the appointment someone should have said, "you will have to wait an hour if you come this afternoon--would you like to come another time?" I would have gracefully scheduled on another day. Instead, I wasted the time to fill out the questionnaire, the time to drive there, the time to drive back and the time waiting. I donated blood in January at Mission Hospital in their donation bus. Two staff members, one apparently the team lead, didn't wear masks properly. The Team Lead had her nose sticking out the entire time, the other wore a mask so poorly fitting that her mouth and nose were exposed whenever she talked, They claimed their equipment was faulty but continually manipulated the needle in my arm. They also kept playing with the equipment, meaning they were about 2 feet from me without wearing masks properly....during a pandemic that's killed over 400,000 Americans. I've donated blood for nearly 50 years and this was THE worst experience I've ever had donating blood. My arm hurt for 2 weeks and the needle site just stopped hurting. If I were a brand new donor, I wouldn't donate again. I noted my concerns on their on-line evaluation and never heard from them. I received an e-mail on Friday evening asking me to donate again. When I responded not no, but HELL NO, the person said they would forward my concerns to someone in Blood Connection. No follow up. They'll gladly make a profit off of your donated blood, but apparently don't really care about the individuals that donate. I have to donate blood every 2 months for medical reasons. I'm going to the American Red Cross now. read more

As O- , I've been donating to the Blood Conn. for over 15 yrs both mobile/on site @ Wdruff Rd. in Gville. O- is the univ. blood type and ALWAYS in high demand, especially since I've had Covid and probably have the antibodies which could save someone's life. Well, Saturday I went to the site on Wdruff and for the 2nd time had a really bad experience. It took 1 1/2 hrs to give a 10 minute donation, the young lady who inserted the needle couldn't get the blood started and needed an more experienced tech to get it started (last time it took three techs to get it right), and then when the young first time donor next to me got nervous and asked some questions about the post donor process, I was told to be quiet. Once finished and in the donor recovery room, I asked to speak to the manager (lead), I told her of my observations and that this was the second time in a row that I had bad experience at this location, she appeared not interested, distracted, and totally overwhelmed. She said there was nothing she could do about it, didn't have enough people or supplies, and walked away throwing her hands up. I have called the Blood Connection donor/feedback line and left message and no response after 72 hrs, so you be the judge. Plus they tell you that you will get antibody test results with a donation, again 72 hrs nothing. Trust me I wont go there again, and will consider where to take my lifesaving gift next time. They do alot of begging for blood, maybe they should beg for more feedback from donors or maybe they just don't care based on my lack of response from hq. read more

Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean and attractive surroundings. The intake rooms are named for trees and I had my initial interview in the Magnolia Room. After my donation I was encouraged to take some time replenishing myself at their free snack bar. Sodas, water, juices, coffee, nutrition bars, popcorn and more. Plus, I received a free Clemson sweatshirt and two free movie passes for my donation. All this and we made it home in time to hunker down for the ensuing snow storm. read more

Only give blood here if you don't mind repetitive calls asking you to donate again. I donated here once a year ago. I moved out of state not long after. I STILL get calls from them constantly. I have asked to be removed from their list many many times and have been told each time they will take care of it. It has not. Also they left the tourniquet on my arm during the entire time I was giving blood which I didn't realize at the time is super bad practice. It can lead to the blood being unusable. read more

My experiences with the blood connection are getting worse every time I donate. Many of the staff are getting more and more obnoxious all the time. They are more interested in talking to each other about personal things than they are in engaging with the clients, who are taking time out of their days to get a large needle jammed in their arm. They should be providing a calm relaxing atmosphere, rather than discussing what they think of their management or their co-workers or flirting with each other. My Wife and I always donate together. We went online and made 3pm Appointments at the mobile donation site. Before going we registered online to get done quickly. Arrived on time to a line. No one outside of the bus from the Blood Connection.. Others in line handed us a form and said we had to fill out. Since there was no one to ask if need, we complete, we did. Other guest in line told us they were early and hoped they would get in early. 10 minutes after our appointment time, the door opened and they started taking donors in front of us. Including those that stated they were early. Why make an appointment? Donating Blood is a great cause, but Blood Connection please treat us with a little respect. This blood donation was via their mobile truck. This was my first donation to Blood Connection so I wasn't sure what to expect. To say say I was disappointed is an understatement. Thanks he appointment was for 3 pm. I showed up 5 mins early and still had to wait. I was brought into the bus 30 mins later, filled out some more paperwork and then was give a chair to sit down to give blood. I was visited a couple of times by the person who does the stocking (I guess she was the only one and could only see one donor at a time). 35 mins later she finally starts the process to draw the blood. She has trouble finding a vein/artery (she is the first tech to have an issue), finally completes the stick but in the end misses the vein. She still attempts to draw the blood but gives up after 15 mins. I leave an 1 1/2 hours after I arrive feeling disappointed knowing that hospitals need blood, but this Blood Connection mobile bus is capable of that task. read more

When trying to give blood at the TBC Center on Glennwood Avenue in Raleigh, I had a bad experience (I had set up the appointment on line and traveled from Chapel Hill). I noted on my survey that I had traveled out of the country in the past 3 years. When the interviewer reviewed my survey, she asked me what countries I had traveled to. I handed her my list and dates of travel (this comes up at TBC so I was prepared). The interviewer asked me the names of the countries of 2 trips (Socorro Islands and Maldives). This was reasonable and I told her "Mexico" and the "Republic of Maldives," respectively. I also briefly described their geographical locations. For some reason she did not believe me. She said she had to confirm that the countries were Malaria free as well as their location (I had given her the rough locations). I also googled "Maldives and malaria" on my phone to show her the Maldives were malaria free. She left the room. After 20 minutes, I went to find her - she was on the computer in the reception area looking up the countries. I asked her why it was taking so long and she reiterated that she had to confirm the locations of the countries. This seemed absurd to me - I had no idea why: (1) she had to confirm the locations; (2) this was taking so long; and (3) no one ever confirmed the countries during my prior TBC visits. She obviously didn't believe me and thought that one or both countries had malaria. With an attitude, she told me that Socorro Islands were not in Mexico by in Colima Mexico. I didn't want to embarrass her and tell her that Colima was a state in Mexico. At that point, I decided to leave. I have no idea why this woman had to investigate the countries I visited. I have donated to TBC several times prior and never had this happen. In contrast, during prior visits, the receptionists, interviewers, and phlebotomists were very nice, caring, and highly appreciative of my donation. They made me want to come back. I will donate at TBC again but hope that I do not have this same interviewer. She needs some training. read more
