I would highly recommend donating blood, platelets, or plasma at the blood connection on Woodruff…read moreRoad. The staff is always incredibly friendly and makes the time go by quickly. They always remember who I am and ask how I'm doing. They are always accommodating when I might be a little short on time. They're also a wealth of knowledge. I've learned so much about the donation process, the reasons to donate, outside of the obvious, and how good it is for our bodies when we donate blood. Occasionally, the wait can be rather long. The staff has always been very apologetic when this happens. It's always helpful to have a appointment when donating. I have A+ blood therefore donating plasma is the best use of my blood type. The staff is very familiar with helping you figure out which donation would be best for you blood type. Of course, any sort of donation Is very helpful. The staff always thanks me and I always hear them thank others for taking the time to donate. Donating blood literally can take as little as 15 minutes from the time you sit down to donate and to the time you leave. All of us have 15 minutes to give. It's a difference between saving a life and not. I'd Recommend donating here!!

We made appointments online which I believe is recommended and filled out the medical history info online as well. We got there and they took our temperatures before letting us in the building. The wait wasn't too long before they took me back to a little room to take my blood pressure, temperature, and check hemoglobin counts. They had me fill out the whole medical history survey again in this room, so don't waste your time doing it at home beforehand. I was a little nervous having never donated blood before but they took me back to a chair and got me all set up, then my nurse brought me a ginger ale to sip on. She was extremely attentive to me despite also working with three other donors, and made sure I was ok. I felt lightheaded at one point and she pulled out an ice pack for my neck which helped. Keep squeezing the foam ball in your hand! It might hurt but it makes it go by quickly I think. The actual process of giving blood took 10-15minutes, very short. After it was finished, I sat for a few minutes before getting up then went and grabbed a few complimentary snacks and made sure I'd be ok to drive. They have lots of snacks, drinks, teas and coffees for you to get functional if you aren't feeling great. We also each received a $10 visa gift card when we were done, so that was a great perk! Overall I had a great experience, much better than I ever thought my first blood donation process would go. They're extremely friendly nurses and make sure you're ok throughout the process. I'll definitely be back in two months and will tell everyone I know to go donate!
