I went in yesterday for a simple blow out and it was not a great experience. Maybe because I was the last scheduled service of the day and everyone wanted to leave so my service was rushed, I'm not sure. First, the stylist didn't fully wet my hair before washing it. That's right, my hair was "washed" while still being partially dry. Then, after my 1 minute wash, the stylist pulled out a brush from a drawer with many brushes that were full of other clients hair. There was not one brush in the drawer that looked clean and unused. The stylist proceeded to to brush my hair with a brush covered in someone else's hair. There was so much hair in the brush that I think it's worth being concerned about possible lice or other health concerns. The stylist kept raking her fingers through my hair while blow drying and styling instead of using brushes or other tools and she was just pulling my hair out, it was very uncomfortable. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. I thought it would be nice to just get a quick blow out before the weekend but my hair is in worse shape than when I walked in. I'm sad to write this review because the owner at the front desk was super nice, but I want to share my experience so others can spend their hard earned money somewhere else and get services that are worth the cost. I go to Blowout Lounge twice a week for years and everyone I have had do my blowouts was amazing! Kari is my go to, but I have had great experiences with them all! It's always social and fun and a welcoming place. The owner Nick is such a good dude, has a great vibe, fun to chat with while he is cutting my son and husband's hair, and always professional, well respected, and liked by the stylists. I am so glad he bought it, the new vibe and overall service has improved for everyone. I also get my highlights and color here and Kari makes me look awesome! I was really disappointed in my experience today. The name of the business is Blow Out Lounge, so I assumed all of the stylists specialize in doing blowouts all day long. I am not good at doing my hair and had a marketing photo shoot that I wanted to look my best for. On their Yelp page, the pictures of the clients look amazing so I was excited. I asked for a blowout with volume using a round brush to loosely curl the hair because my experience with curling irons is that the curls don't last in my hair and it's very time consuming. The stylist asked if I wanted her to use the straight iron and that it was my call to make, but I was looking to her as the expert to know what to do based on what I asked for. My appointment was at 1:00 and I told her my photos were scheduled for 4:00. What I got did not seem like a blowout, did not look like any of the glamorous pictures on the Yelp page, nor was it what I asked for. I wish I could have gone back and asked for a refund or a redo or something, but I didn't have time before my event. By the time I got home, my hair looked like I had just rolled out of bed. I'm not sure if it is a reflection of all the stylists who work there, but based on my experience today, I probably would not go back. I am writing this review on behalf of a friend who has had a poor experience with the owner. The owner must be on a permanent Monday vacation because this salon is never open on Monday despite hours online stating that they are open 10-5, but even that is untrue because if you call and speak to the receptionist, she'll inform you that the hours have been shortened to 10-3. It is appropriate in the eyes of the owner to not honor salon hours and not bother with reaching out to clients and let them know their appointments have been cancelled, or to have the receptionist call day of the said appointment and say that they need to reschedule because the owner will not be in. If he doesn't want to cut hair or be open on certain days, that is his decision to make, but at least show respect to the people who are trying to give business to this establishment and change the hours and remove the services that he offers. It is sad to see a salon be dragged down by someone who doesn't want to be there. read more

Today I am getting 10% off using their Valentine's Day text. Andrea has been doing my hair for about 2 years. I get a haircut, blow out and curl and she really does a fabulous job. Her curls last for days. They offer Fairy hair which is glittery strands that they add to your hair for some sparkle. They also do make up. This place has the nicest stylists and do great work. But the owner / place is tough. I learned today that they consider an appt unconfirmed unless you click on a link they send minutes after you book. And they make a really big deal if you are 6-7 minutes late. Last time they called me at the exact minute of my appt - as I was parking - to confirm I was coming. Stressful. For my appt today, I apparently didn't confirm (by accident) and arrived 6-7 minutes late. They assured me stylist was finishing up but half an hour after my appt had started stylist was still halfway through someone else. I was super disappointed because I was counting on color for work this weekend. But since owner made a big deal that I had walked in late and not confirmed - I offered to pay for service anyway and also asked to rebook. He told me I was being rude and got super personal. Said he charged me $10 extra last time I was there because I was "nasty" and "touched the blow dry after my color". Meanwhile I had asked the stylist if she minded if I blow dried my own hair (since I had not booked the service). And she and I just generally laughed and had a good time. So fact I was disliked was news to me. Today, i tried to smooth things over in a nice calm voice - just bc I think that's the right thing to do - but guy (who'a young) got offended I called him dude, told me I was "fired" and threatened to "call me in for trespass". Talk about escalation. Totally understandable to just not like someone but owner has a too short fuse. And his level of aggression and the personal nature of his comments are super unprofessional. If you are looking for a relaxing and relaxed place - this isn't it. (Despite the awesome people who work there.) read more

Wow what a horrible experience my daughter had. After spending 8 hours for highlights and then Making her hair orange and zebra stripes from doing it wrong. Gee was nice enough to try and fix it. My daughters hair is ruined and still orange. We called the manager said she would refund the money. The owner called and said she would not refund the money. My mother has owned her own salon for over 30 years and she would never treat a customer that way. What happen to customer satisfaction. There is none here. The owner was rude to my daughter in law. She has been crying for over 24 hours due to how horrible and horrific her hair looks. The lady that did this should be fired and her license removed. I will never ever ever go there. By the way they charged her over $200.00 for this. Shame shame shame on the owner. read more

i only come here for blow outs so my review is solely based on blow outs. i've been here a few times and genuinely want to like it. the salon is clean and everyone is friendly. i have a lot of hair and i always ask for a "bouncy blow out". any stylist i have ever been to achieves that with a large round brush, except for the stylists at the blow out lounge. i have tried several different stylists and they all do the same thing- blow dry smooth and then curl with a 1" curling iron. she had me turned away from the mirror during the whole appointment so i couldn't really see what she was doing or how anything looked. i have had hundreds of blow outs in my life and no where, except for the blow out lounge has ever used a curling iron for a "bouncy blow out". when these curls fall i will have beach waves, and the stylist told me that as she was finishing up. she also asked me if i like a lot of volume at the root which i answered yes immediately and my roots are bordering on flat... while i sat in the chair having my hair done, i watched the stylist in front of me & he was also using a curling iron on a woman who asked for a "blow dry with whispy ends". it's the same style no matter who you go to here. they are all such nice people but i genuinely don't think one stylist in this salon has a clue how to offer anything except for beach waves. i had somewhere to be at 5 so couldn't even have her try to fix this. i paid and tipped and left to go home to try to fix this with my dyson. i gave this salon a solid shot but after my appointment today, and observing the techniques of the other stylists, i cant confidently recommend going here for a blow out and i wont be returning. read more

We were in town for a black-tie affair and needed my hair to be washed and blown out. These stylists seem to be fresh out of beauty school. Absolutely awful. I have shoulder length slightly curly hair. Asked for my hair to be styled in soft waves. My hairdresser specifically took pictures of my head at three different angles so the hairdresser could see exactly how he styles it. I mentioned to the alleged stylist that my hairdresser uses only a small round brush to achieve the look in the pictures. She didn't even have a small brush, had to ask to borrow one. The chair was turned away from the mirror the entire time so I was unable to see how she was blowing out my hair. When she finally turned my chair around, my hair was straight and puffed out on the top and sides, no curls, no waves, looked like I was wearing a football helmet. Another stylist had to come over and attempted to give her instructions as to how to style my now perfectly dry, full of moose, hair. Then, another stylist has to take over, use a curling iron, and attempt to do something with the mess the first stylist created. At no time did they suggest washing the hair and having a more experienced person do the blow out. And the icing on the cake, the first stylist says, "I am used to doing long hair, I don't do short hair." Lovely, so why didn't you admit this at the beginning. And for this, I had to pay $48 with the receptionist asking if I'd like to leave a tip on my credit card. Tip - the only tip I will offer is do not patronize this hair salon. I had to go back to my hotel and attempt to fix my hair myself. read more

Just had my first racist moment since moving here from California. This was the absolute worst experience. From the moment I walked in and the lady who was supposed to do my hair "choked" on her water when she saw I was a person of color. Then there was countless stares, side conversations and comments while I was getting my hair blown out. Took three stylist to blowdry my hair. What!?! I've been going to Drybar multiple times a month for years and never has more than one stylist worked on my hair at once. Stylists of various ethnicities have done my hair with no issue. These employees clearly need to be trained on how to be accommodating to every customer. Moral of the story, if you're a person of color or have very curly hair, don't come here.
