I like the Blu Orchid Spa. It was affordable and offered a calming atmosphere that really put my mind into relaxation and calming mode. The appearance outside may not say much, but inside, one definitely felt safe and relaxed. I got a firm 90 min massage with deep tissue option with Kristy and I really.enjoyed it. Usually when I go to some places on affordable side, the environment made it hard for me to relax..but at this place..and in Kristy's good caring hands, I definitely and unexpectedly even fell asleep. I also love that you can customize your massage with a different scented (or unscented if you choose to) oil as well. For me, I picked therapist's choice because I was so indecisive..so I let Kristy picked for me. She combined rose and peppermint scent and I thought it was wonderful. My man friend and I scheduled a couple's massage after reading Yelp reviews and I am so happy we did! The building was kept locked during our massage so we felt safe there. We came in on our year anniversary a little apprehensive as neither one of us has had a couples massage before. They were sooooo kind and accommodating. We felt right at home. Calvin performed my massage and it was amazing. He asked a few times about the pressure which I appreciated. The pressure was perfect. My boyfriend had Jass perform his massage and she suggested a few things that he agreed with. It was so relaxing for him that he fell asleep twice. I would definitely recommend! I come here regularly. I've had a few massages with Kristy and others -- all have been great. My favorite though here is -- Brianna! She is consistently one of the best massages I've had anywhere in the United States. Her style is really flow-y and unique -- I get 2-3 massages per week and when I travel too and the way she works my back, hamstrings -- probably my favorite ever. I love that she doesn't talk much during the massage so I can focus being in the body -- over time I found I really don't like to chat during massage as it's a distraction and puts me in my head. So anyway, she uses so many unique techniques and has an uncanny way and ability to get the tension out of your body -- painlessly, without undue force. I asked for hard pressure on my hamstrings and calves as I normally do and she does not go too hard -- it's perfect. Sometimes when I ask people for hard pressure on the hamstrings/calves, they take that as "let me try and break his leg", haha! Not Brianna. She gets the tension out but without causing any pain, doesn't hurt when she is doing it or afterwards. I really love how she uses holding and slight rocking to get the tension out, that works much better for me than jamming one's elbow into my body as hard as they can as some massage therapists tend to do, unfortunately. I wish more massage therapists used gentle rocking and holding as that works SO well for me. I feel like she not only has great technique but really healing energy and an uncanny ability to somatically feel what your body needs. And I love that she doesn't get chatty with me! I tend to want to stay silent now but if someone is chatty, then I become chatty and then I'm in my head talking about this and that instead of being in my body. So, to sum it up, I've never had a bad massage here -- Kristy, Marina are all great but Brianna is my new favorite massage therapist. She is consistent, uses unique techniques and her massage is BOTH firm and nurturing at the same time, which I find highly unique and unusual (most massage therapists are usually either one OR the other, it's rare that you can combine both and with her you get that). And with no talking -- I can just focus on being in my body, which I absolutely love. I know some people like to chat with their massage therapist -- not me -- not anymore anyway, I think it takes away from the experience but I digress. So, any of their massage therapists are good but -- Brianna is my new favorite. It is one of the best massages you can find anywhere, I highly highly recommend Brianna. We came in and they were super friendly. You have the option to add many enhancing experiences to the massage for free (aromatherapy, hot stones, cupping, a bunch of stuff and I hadn't heard before). The woman working on my friend was so warm and kind to him. He sounded happy and chatty. I was suffering from this weird migraine. I get them when my mind is blown by a rock idol. I was less chatty but felt like I was levitating. My massage therapist took my cue and worked on me for a heavenly 90 minutes. I am a single mom and a teacher so my neck and shoulders are in pain almost everyday. I remember dreading the end of the massage. It just felt like another level. My headache subsided. There was some kind of amazing wave light machine orchestrating dancing waves of purple and blue across the ceiling. I felt like I was on some kind of designer drug, flying high with Bob Dylan. When at table was more like a soft back rub than massage, even when requested firm pressure. Stones were applied without warning and way too hot. Therapist pulled on limbs aggressively and rested arms on the floor. Seemed therapists kept checking a routine book versus a fluid massage. Tables were uncomfortable and had to request additional pillows/towels to relieve pressure. Would not recommend and will not be back. Follow up. I stand correctly on my review and non of this 'offer free massage' from this place will change my mind. My time is valuable and cannot afford another 90 minutes of bad massage and bad attitude/ customer service! I made an appt to get a 90 minutes hot stone massage. It costed me $100 to get an unsatisfied service. On the intital appt, I told the masseuse Kelly Romero that I don't like oil on the palm of my hands and bottom of my feet and I need her to her focus mainly on my neck and shoulder. None of my request was being fulfilled. Kelly said we have hot towel to wipe of the palm of my hands and feet after I've told her I don't want any oil on my hands and feet. That's one thing she doesn't listen. My neck and shoulder was never being rubbed and focus like I had requested. When I brought it up again for the third time, Kelly said she can focus on my neck and shoulder when she flipped me over. I had many many massages over the years and never once the masseuse focus on rubbing my shoulder laying on my back. That's ridiculous! She never focus on my neck and shoulder, i spent 90 minutes in the room with her and my neck and shoulder still sore and hurt. She used hot stone maybe once or twice during the session but it was definitely just a normal rubbing, not even count as hot stone massage. Never again I would book with this place or Kelly again. The massage was NOT satisfied, leaving my hands and feet all greasy with oil, and overpriced for what little service that I got. It was definitely not worth the money nor service. The owner Kristy was so kind professional and accommodating! They provide many " add ons" that add nothing to your base price including " hot stones", "cupping", "dry brushing", ect. I was also given a "pregnancy bolster" (which is basically a memory foam with the belly area open) it really made the experience all the better! Typically, we have always gone to Santa Fe for massages but really wanted to discover a place in Albuquerque, well our search is over. All took the time to fully explain offerings and answer any questions. We were pleasantly surprised with some of the "free" offerings such as hot stones, "dry brushing" amongst others. You even have choice of fragrance used for treatment. We both opted for the "dry brushing" add-on , if you like getting your back lightly scratched, go for this! My wife and I indulged in a 90 minute Couples massage that cost $190 for both of us! That's right - both of us! It would have cost us that much for 1 person at our previous massage providers. She was extremely kind and welcoming and even called the next day to move our appointment up. The facility is extremely clean and adheres to the COVID guidelines.
