Since we were coming back down south from Wiscasset, we thought it would be a good idea to stop in Freeport and check out some of the shops. Mangy Moose was near the top of our list, so off we went. In essence, Mangy Moose is a gift shop that sells lots of souvenirs and other tchotchkes. You may be thinking that it's like every other souvenir shop in a touristy part of Maine - and I may agree with you to an extent. However, I like the fact that Mangy Moose is large and its selection is beyond what you would find elsewhere; I would argue that you would need to go to several stores to find what MM has under one roof. Clothing, jewelry, signs, books, housewares, holiday stuff, toys - it's all here. Also, the store is arranged nicely with lots of space to roam. Overall, if you're in Freeport I would definitely recommend stopping at Mangy Moose - it's a nice break from the typical outlets you find in the area and you may just leave with a little something.

It's easy to support, when they partner with some of the coolest vendors, both locally and nationwide. While I don't frequently shop at this store, I like to take friends and family there when they are visiting to pick up Maine souvenirs and other fun things. They also sell brands like Patagonia, which is a great brand. Maine souvenirs range from mugs, glasses, t-shirts and really nice quality sweatshirts. I like the more subtle designs and subdued colors. I like this location - as it's conveniently located in the downtown area, where there usually is street or municipal parking available. The store was nicely organized and tidy. The staff was kind with a warm welcome and a sincere thank you as I was cashing out. They do a great job wrapping souvenirs as well, in the event you are traveling or shipping them. I recommend this store.

Perhaps, only if you're seeking the smallest game on a very short trip. Is there really such a thing ever as having TOO much? Perhaps, there is no such a thing if you're a "responsible" prepper or an avid enthusiast seeking to advance yourself to handle just about ANY situation thrown your way - including the apocalypse. I definitely do not believe there is such a thing as having too much. And I can bet on it that most of the people here today at Kittery Trading Post feel the same way. Yes, the prices are mostly MSRP and sometimes higher. Yes, you can most likely (99% of the time) get a better deal elsewhere (especially online). But where can you actually have the opportunity to TOUCH everything or be likely seduced to WANT more because you weren't aware that such an item even existed? Here, at KTP, that is exactly what happens. You think you have a particular item in mind? How about being thrown more options that most other stores even dream of carrying? Thought you liked something online? How about holding that item in person and deciding if it is the right fit for just a fraction more of the price (and avoid the need to make returns for the most part?) How about being swayed into another product because you "apparently" didn't research it enough to realize there are even BETTER options that fit your exact needs (or because it's more expensive and you can justify it in person, lol)? Kittery Trading Post is definitely one of my ultimate retail spots as an outdoor enthusiast and an avid prepper (for whatever possible events will ever unfold in my fantasies). And every time I'm here, I always leave with at least one new toy for the personal arsenal. Definitely love this place even if it's not exactly the best bang for the buck.
