I always have to make a pit stop at Kittery Trading Post, whenever I go to Maine! This store is AMAZING... I can literally spend hours here and not get bored at all. They have all things outdoors-related such as jackets from popular brands (Canada Goose, Patagonia, etc), canoes, hunting apparel, winter boots, summer sandals, running sneakers, camping and fishing gear + equipment, and MORE. The one and only Kittery Trading Post. I have been coming here everytime I come to Maine, and it never disappoints. It literally has something for everyone, even if you don't like hunting or fishing. But, if you're into hunting or fishing, this place has stuff you cannot find at other stores. Especially, if you come from an insane liberal state like Massachusetts. I could spend an hour or more in here looking at everything. It's Maine's entry to the wonders of the world. Service was pretty good, and even with a returned item. I find it better than Cabela's. First time ever actually going into KTP and i thought it was so cool. They have a little bit of everything in the outdoors type world. Fishing and bait, rugged work gear, sneakers and boots, camping gear, survival gear. They have KTP pricing which can be found cheaper here than other places you might find name brand like North face and canada goose. They also have known worker brands that I'm not too familiar with but the materials and build quality felt high end and warm. This is like REI on steroids. Tons and tons of outdoor gear. An outdoor enthusiast's mecca or dream. Free parking lot and they have a tent set up outside with their sale items. They usually have events every weekend as well to drive visitors to their store so it's pretty busy all thr time. If you're one of those people that likes to explore recreational clothing, shoes, and equipment in person, this is the place to go. read more

We went shopping at the kittery trading Post while visiting Maine, and I went to the shoe department and found that Jared, one of the sales people, was more helpful than anybody I have run into in years. He kept with me even in in spite of my hearing problems and helped me find just the right solution for my shoes. read more

The hubby and I stopped in here to grab a few things. This place is outdoors man's dream! So many name brand high quality clothing and items. Lots of sales too. I couldn't resist and got 3 pairs of shoes along with a ton of souvenirs. Ill be back in a couple of months and I know exactly where to get my winter coat! The cashiers and sales people were very friendly. I love this place. I think we were here for nearly 2.5 hours and we didn't even see half of this place. We made another successful and fun visit to the Trading Post. This big store is well worth a visit. IT covers a lot of territory, and you should plan on taking several hours to fully explore it. Since our last visit they have moved hunting and fishing equipment to the second floor. It seems kind of crowded there now, but it's not a section where we often browse. We spend much of our time in the casual/sport clothing areas. The Trading Post carries a lot of the big names like North Face, Patagonia, Kuhl and -- if you're into upscale -- Canada Goose. Most of it is very good quality, and we've made some excellent purchases over the years. But do keep in mind this is NOT an outlet; prices don't seem unreasonable to us, but most items wouldn't be labeled cheap. They do carry lots of Maine souvenir items, and they often aren't terribly expensive (we got some tees and sweaters labeled "Maine" in big letters for under $20. There are so many items to explore here that we really recommend that you don't hurry through. The staff is helpful with directions (we never seem able to find the hats) and product descriptions. The bathroom are clean, and there's a tasty snack bar outside. Outside also is a large tent which does have discounted/outlet items including clothing and outdoor furniture. There's lots of free parking. Everything else probably will cost you (lol). read more

The shop is 2 full floors and you can easily spend an hour just taking your time to look at everything. Want dip mix? Speciality jams? BBQ sauces? Popover mix? Christmas Ornaments? Candles? Many types of candy and fudge? Hot sweet nuts? Live lobster? Maine T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants? Sherpa socks? Need a new hunting coat? A fishing rod? A book about Maine's back country? My cousin took me the the Trading Post to find a sweatshirt during my recent visit. The store is somewhat of a tourist attraction with rooms and rooms of New England themed clothing, sporting and camping gear and lots of souvenirs. During my visit, the store was crowded with shoppers filling carts. The Post carries brands such as Carhartt, North Face, Merrill and more. The store was packed with merchandise, probably in anticipation of Christmas shopping. Personally, I felt it was a bit cluttered in parts. Prices were mixed with some good deals to be found. I picked up a couple things including a big box of pulled taffy. They have free parking. There was a long line to use the restroom. Staff at the check out were friendly and efficient. read more

This is a great store in convenient location (only about 45 minutes from Boston/Cambridge area). This is not a cheap store. You get outstanding quality at a fair price care getting. It's a huge selection from clothing to shoes, outdoor and fishing gear, to snack and candies. I love the wood and country decor of the building. It's a nice relaxing environment to shop in. Is there such a thing as having too much gear? Perhaps, only if you're carrying it all at the same time for a limited trip. Is there such a thing as too much firepower? Perhaps, only if you're seeking the smallest game on a very short trip. Is there really such a thing ever as having TOO much? Perhaps, there is no such a thing if you're a "responsible" prepper or an avid enthusiast seeking to advance yourself to handle just about ANY situation thrown your way - including the apocalypse. I definitely do not believe there is such a thing as having too much. And I can bet on it that most of the people here today at Kittery Trading Post feel the same way. Yes, the prices are mostly MSRP and sometimes higher. Yes, you can most likely (99% of the time) get a better deal elsewhere (especially online). But where can you actually have the opportunity to TOUCH everything or be likely seduced to WANT more because you weren't aware that such an item even existed? Here, at KTP, that is exactly what happens. You think you have a particular item in mind? How about being thrown more options that most other stores even dream of carrying? Thought you liked something online? How about holding that item in person and deciding if it is the right fit for just a fraction more of the price (and avoid the need to make returns for the most part?) How about being swayed into another product because you "apparently" didn't research it enough to realize there are even BETTER options that fit your exact needs (or because it's more expensive and you can justify it in person, lol)? Kittery Trading Post is definitely one of my ultimate retail spots as an outdoor enthusiast and an avid prepper (for whatever possible events will ever unfold in my fantasies). And every time I'm here, I always leave with at least one new toy for the personal arsenal. Definitely love this place even if it's not exactly the best bang for the buck. read more

This place is massive... like wow! Locals said this was a must stop, walking in there was a large display of the very popular Stanley reusable bottles in every color. Definitely makes me laugh, my dad used an old one back in the 70's. Tons of clothing everywhere, active wear to specific outdoor wear like water resistant pants, Walking around the store it's set up in categories, a fishing area. Where there is even canoes. Huge selection of gun and ammunition, so many knives on display.each area has knowledge staff to help with questions and concerns. There is a small fudge cart/area that was very popular, I got some to bring g home. Very reasonable priced. It's a large store with Maine souvenirs (food, decorative items, clothing, and more) and a vast selection of outdoor equipment. Prices were a bit high. Terrible. Will never shop here again. Overheard a young woman with glasses, an older gentleman, and an older woman with glasses in the shooting sports section, talking and laughing about inappropriate situations in front of our children on a Monday morning. They were bragging loudly about how they collectively had a co-worker fired under false claims. Not a good look. I took down all of their names and spoke to a supervisor who could have cared less. We've spent tons of money here, but never again. read more

They no longer allow dogs in the store, which is pretty standard for the Kittery outlets. Freeport and Boothbay are super dog friendly and offer better shopping, including LL bean. read more

There was a strap missing on the backpack I bought my husband (it came from Yeti) so I called and actually spoke to a PERSON (Scott). He was helpful-said he'd look into the issue and called me back in under 10 minutes. The new strap arrived shortly after. It's my first experience w/this store (I live in Seattle) but it's certainly not my last. How refresing that customer service still exists! Kudos to them! read more

I was in there today with my Son. I did have an awful lot of items true, but I didn't appreciate the elderly lady working the purse section automatically assuming I was a thief. My Son was beside her while she's apparently telling people to watch me. Then I'm upstairs putting things down so I could rearrange my gun belt because I've lost weight, and my shadow jumped out of nowhere and scared the crap out of me! I was looking at sleeping bag gear because I am here visiting, and then intended to get a backpack to go on a plane to Orlando. When we leave our son we are going to celebrate our anniversary. Other than scaring the crap out of me cause I wasn't even sure I'm supposed to have my mass gun in Maine, the woman who did was ignorant. I asked her to show me backpacks and she pretty much brushed a few and walked away. I get outside and see my Son who informed me she'd been following me through the whole store, and that the other one told them too! First time here, last time. I paid $400 for all my merchandise which they may get back tomorrow! read more

Kittery Trading Post is an iconic VERY LARGE sporting goods, apparel, hunting and fishing store. IMHO it has advantages over the competition as they have just about everything for everyone. They always have some really nice low cost merchandise for the tourists like hoodies or light sweatshirts. This weekend they had boot and optics vendors (scopes and binoculars) in the parking lot as well as chainsaw carving. Three stories of really nice browsing and lots of hidden treasures. read more

For those who go to KTP for fishing supplies, be in store for a back to back and rack to rack collection of fishing supplies. They moved all fishing upstairs alongside of hunting and would make sense if they actually had the space. This is not a good experience what so ever. Please re-think your merchandizing practice. Was set to spend a considerable amount only to leave frustrated. I will go elsewhere. I mainly go there to pay the higher prices for the expertise. All I saw was stockers on a Thursday afternoon where they supposedly had a large promotion today through Sunday. A terrible move for the customer! read more

If I lived closer to KTP, I would visit and shop more than once a month. They have something for everyone here (products not prices). Clothes for all ages, genders and preferences and usually seasonally appropriate. Don't try looking for a bathing suit in the winter. LOL The fudge counter is one of my favorite stops - you can get a free little taste if there is a flavor you want to try, like my favorite, peanut butter or maple. YUM!!! They have a ton of bagged candy as well, through back to childhood memories for me. The clothes seem a little higher priced than what you can find online, but when they have a tent clearance or sale, you can get a ton of great deals!!! Pretzel- get the ranch dill pretzels!!! You will thank me later. The staff - they are so nice. I love taking out of town visitors here, but I also love shopping here. There are a lot of tenured staff members here, you can tell it's a great place. I haven't seen anyone with less than 3 years of service. I highly recommend KTP. read more
