I love a place where the staff are super chill and social, the space is welcoming and there's something on the menu that you'll want to have again and again. That was exactly how it was during my experience at Blue Ridge Brewing. We came here around the afternoon on a Sunday and there were a few patrons inside, mostly sitting at the bar, which is where we ended up sitting. It's the best seat in the house as our bartender was super fun and friendly. It seemed like a lot of locals come here as the staff knew many of the other patrons. It's always a good sign when an establishment has frequent customers. I wanted to try some of the local beer since I don't often find beer from the south where I live, but they only had two of their own beers on tap. Most of the other beers on tap were from elsewhere. However, I saw for their seasonal special, they make their own eggnog, which has bourbon, rum and cognac, so I had to try it. AND IT WAS SO ADDICTIVE. Our bartender let us know that they also sell it in a half gallon bottle. How dangerous! The specialty eggnog was awesome! If I was a local, I would easily get bottles of this stuff. They do have very small tiny stickers that they sell for $.50 each that they offered me to purchase. Good customer service would have offered to give me one because I drove 20 miles out of my way to purchase merchandise from their website shown, but they did not seem to care. After waiting about 30 minutes for my beer, she brings a bottle and a glass to the table and leaves with no explanation. This is our go to casual place in downtown. We find parking to be easier at this end of Trade Street and the food is consistent. I personally love the wings with a side of grits. Decided to give it a try based on recommendation from a co-worker. Make sure and check hours. They were closed the first time I tried on Monday night. The grits in the Shrimp and Grits were very cheesy and tasted really good but the consistency was off IMO. I prefer them to be thicker. The shrimp were large and plentiful. Not as much Andouille Sausage as I expected. The Strawberry Cheesecake was also good but again consistency was a little off. Overall good not great and a lot of other options in the area. read more

The food was drenched in mayo ranch dressing sauces and absolutely gross. The beer is flat. I tried their lager and pale ale and absolutely horrible. My wife had a piece of what looked to be part of a chefs hat in her food. It was like a paper fabric that was noticeable on the plate. We were here for a hockey competition and this brewery/restaurant was observable from the rink. Quick walk for we tired people, mild night, we were hungry, chilled and wanted liquid refreshment. Was a bit crowded, so went up on their roof where they had a bar and tables. A perfect set-up for private parties in clement weather. Very nice menu and, unfortunately, only one very harried wait person to accommodate about eight tables and over 25 people. We waited. We waited A LONG TIME. Ordered drinks which took nearly forever, it seemed, to arrive. Once we had the wait person we immediately ordered meals. It was that kind of situation where you would be foolish to chat, hoping that you could order when you wanted. Nope...do it now. BBQ was their specialty so three of us ordered the dry rubbed ribs. Half rack was the equivalent of a full rack in other restaurants ($18.90). And we drank beer and Manhattans. Should have just stuck with beer ($6+ for a pint) as that was a quick turn-around from the bar. Not so with mixed drinks (well bourbon $4.50). Ribs were a large portion and well cooked. But not so tasty, to us. Someone ordered the "Q" ($15) which is a cute way to say pulled pork BBQ with slaw. So-so. Great for parties and if you are just going to drink beer and snack. The server did not know the menu and the different types of beers. We were overcharged by $4 for the half rack of ribs. The owner did fix it but his excuse was they haven't updated their menu with the new prices. $22 for a half rack is way over priced. They also charged us for BBQ sauce. I always like to visit local breweries when I am traveling and I love the town of Greer so wanted to stop by. There is a parking lot across the street and street parking as well. Upon walking in there is a bar at the back end and seating available as you walk in. I was informed they also have an upstairs that is open to the outside. They have a few of their own beers on tap and some national craft beers as well. I tried a few of their beers and they were solid. I ordered the trout and it was a massive piece of fish and the vegetables served with them were cooked perfectly. I have a garlic allergy and they were careful to make sure I was covered. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place, has a nice laid back feel. They didn't have any IPAs when I was there, so would be cool if they did sometime. Had brunch with a friend yesterday. I got the Ham Benedict. It was recommended by the waitress the "bennys" are the best. The poached eggs still had runny whites. I'm fine with a runny yoke, but if I see whites not cooked, I get grossed out. The hollandaise sauce was so salty! Then they added more salt on top (the salt you put oh fries). The ham was delicious but like how ham is, it's also salty. Overall it was a super salty meal. The English muffin wasn't crispy so it just got super soggy. Downtown Greer has a unique feel. This was my first brewery experience. Our server, Stephanie, was a delight. Sampled a beer but chose a martini instead. My guest had a margarita with fish and chips which she liked. The atmosphere was nice. We will definitely come back here. There was so much wrong I felt the need to warn others. If you just want some drinks then I'm sure its fine, if you want dinner go elsewhere. We used to eat at Blue Ridge all the time when they were downtown Greenville, so we decided to give it a shot the other night. Backstory, my wife and I just had triplets 4 months ago so getting away is almost impossible. On mother's day we got some help and were able to get out of the house for a little bit after putting the babies down. Blue Ridge was one of the few places open and they stay open late. We got there around 9pm. Atmosphere: Place is very well put together and very cool looking. They have a main dining room with nice bar, a crows nest type floating deck with a table looking over main dining room, and a roof top. It was nice so we decided to eat on the rooftop. It was also very cool HOWEVER.... There were several dogs, which I am fine with as we used to take ours to places that allow it, but these dogs were allowed to go wherever they wanted which seemed to be under our table constantly. A couple of corgis and a pit bull mix. Super annoying to have a strange dog in your crotch over and over again. At least 15 times...... There were several employees drinking at the rooftop bar and service was a little lacking but not terrible. Food was awful. My wife had the shrimp and grits and I had "signature" pulled pork... Shrimp and Grits: Shrimp was not fresh but I get that. The real problem was there was no seasoning and the grits were just soaked in heavy cream. Thats all you could taste... Do not recommend even though thats what the server did. BBQ: Cole slaw was good. Fries were good. They pride themselves on their homemade ketchup but its TERRIBLE. It almost tasted soured, not sure if its because they put booze in it or not but if you can't make something that taste better than table ketchup, then don't. The BBQ probably started out good, but they didn't put any sauce on it although she said its mixed in. Supposed to be vinegar based but you couldn't taste anything. The WORST part was it was sitting in a big pool of its own rendered fat....TERRIBLE. All I could taste was rendered pork fat for the rest of my night. DON'T SCOOP OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTAINER AND NOT STRAIN A LITTLE! Sauce would have disguised some of it but no sauce. Atmosphere is the only saving grace, food was awful and when I mentioned it to the server she literally said "Oh ok. Well thanks for coming out tonight, hope to see you again".....SO CLUELESS. Place is poorly managed, I felt like John Taffer was about to bust in at any moment. He probably needs to. I'll go back if they get a chef and take some pride. Obvious problem is management.
