    Roasted duck breast

Every time dine at Trappe Door, I immediately feel like I am meeting new friends and have a time. Tonight's meal was pretty special with DinnerGVL and the ambiance of welcomed immediately as you walk in, to meet a table full of new faces. I started with a Straffe Hendrik Quad, which was chefs kiss. It was a yummy treat to start the meal off with and be transported into being in Belgium. Not pictured was the charcuterie board and Brie appetizers that were all split and devoured. What was documented was the roasted duck breast with potatoes and asparagus. The duck was roasted perfectly with the skin, crispy for the texture and seasoned divinely. Yall the potatoes were crispy on the outside, well fluffy like little clouds inside, and had a punch of flavor. The asparagus was rich with a butter and lemon note. If a plate could sing! Zero notes. 10/10. My only draw back was I needed a pillow after the meal. Stuffed was I.

The Trappe Door is such a cool spot in Greenville. From the moment you walk down the stairs, the atmosphere feels cozy, intimate, and just really well done. We ordered the fish and chips and loved that it came with a variety of different dipping sauces--it made the dish even more fun and flavorful. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the menu overall is really solid. The drinks were great, the vibe inside is unmatched, and it's an easy place to sit and enjoy your time without feeling rushed.

Somewhat pricey and service was a little slow, but the food was delicious! Very unique and one-of-a-kind experience. Felt like Summer 2019 when I visited Germany for the first time!

A really cool spot in downtown Greenville. You head underground to this awesome setting. The croquettes were stellar. Definitely the best thing at the table. We went with the steak frites, mussels and sausages and loved each. The fish and chips was just ok. I'd definitely recommend other things on the menu. The curry mayo is the best.

Somehow we snatched a prime time dinner reservation randomly in the afternoon after trying all week. We had such a good time here as usual. Our waiter was great and food was delicious as always.

When in Greenville, my husband and I had a wonderful meal at The Trappe Door. One of his friends who is a local but spent time in Belgium recommended it to us. I do recommend making a reservation ahead of time, arriving when they open (at 5 PM), or planning to sit at the bar. We started with the Wild mushroom vol-au-vent ($13) appetizer, which was rich and delicious- definitely not your ordinary mushrooms, and I loved the puff pastry. I had the Pan seared salmon ($28) for my entree and loved how the flavors blended together, especially the marinated tomato salad. My husband had the Provencal Mussels, which came with a huge piece of bread on top for soaking (although I wish you could order an extra bread because he needed it). This dish also came with a side of fries. When you order fries here, you get the choice of three creative flavored mayonnaise options. You can opt for ketchup if you're less adventurous. Although our food did take awhile to come out, the service was good and our waiter checked on us multiple times. It was rather busy so as I mentioned earlier, make a reservation and don't be in a hurry. The bar has a huge selection of Belgian and European beers, as well as mixed drinks and some NA options. For parking, there is a surface lot next door and a garage across the street. Parking is thankfully cheap in downtown Greenville (and free after certain hours).

If you like Belgian beers, this is your spot!! I've been to Belgium and Trappe Door is as close as I've experienced in the states. The service from Miriam on Sat (5/30) was exceptional; she noticed that a member of our party was celebrating a birthday and brought out a cake with a candle without anyone asking. Beyond the spectacular selection of Belgian beers, they also have a great Moscow Mule. Unfortunately, the food is a bit lacking; my fish and chips were very salty, and the fries were soft and mushy. It's pricey for the quality and not very good. I'll still be back, but likely just for drinks and an appetizer.

The BEST beef tartare in the whole city. Its now drowning in mayo.

The food is always great at Trappe door. This time I ordered the famoua beef tartare. It is 10/10 and the best tartare I have tried in the whole city should I dare say in the whole country. The red curry broth was flavorful w some spice. I had the creamy brussel sprouts on the side as well. Overall another great experience.

I had a stellar experience at Trappe Door for my birthday. The vibe is amazingly cool and such a great spot for any kind of event or night out. The food was truly delicious. We had a mussel pot with fries that had more mussels than two of us could finish. I had sautéed duck breast that I won't forget anytime soon. It was flavorful and cooked to absolute perfection. The restaurant is unique and different from so many others that it's something I would definitely recommend everyone try at least once!

My friend and I met up for dinner here and enjoyed the sausages and pasta! We tried the wasabi, curry, and truffle mayo (all of which were amazing). Our waitress helped us decide which ones to order and was attentive throughout our meal. The restaurant is located in downtown Greenville underground. It has a neat ambiance with booth, table, and bar seating. This was my second visit here and I got the pasta both times because of how good it was! The fries are a must as they are a key part of the experience. The shredded Brussel sprouts that came with the sausages were mind blowing in taste. So good and unique.

The Flemish onion soup was delicious. The seafood waterzooi was a bit salty and the shrimp was a little overcooked, but otherwise decent. That stew also appeared to be Americanized since it has more things in it and served with bread which was not the case when I visited Belgium. The inside had a old-world Belgian vibe since it's located below street level.

Visiting Greenville for work and wanted to treat myself to a hearty dinner. I called ahead of time and they had availability for one within 15 mins. I thought they would seat me at the bar but I got a nice seat where I could see all the hustle and bustle. It's a really cool and exclusive-vibes atmosphere, with an extensive beer selection. Ordered the braised short rib and it did not disappoint! The brussels were creamy which I've never experienced before. The short rib and mashed potato were prepared perfectly. I could not finish the plate in one sitting so I took a mini meal to go. If I was in the mood to eat fries I definitely would have tried the fish and chips! Hoping I get to visit Greenville and The Trappe Door again soon!

That said, I did leave slightly underwhelmed given the expectations that come with a Michelin-starred restaurant. One small surprise was seeing entrées served with fries as a standard--it felt a bit more casual than anticipated. Overall, it was a nice dining experience and worth trying, especially if you're into Michelin-recognized spots.

We went around 4:30 on a Saturday, and it was pretty dead. There were a few people sitting outside, and we were actually the only people inside when we first got there. The vibe felt like they might have been switching shifts and getting ready for dinner service. The service was a little slow to start, and the woman who initially took our drink order was honestly a little rude. My friend asked her for a recommendation, and she just wasn't very helpful about it. No big deal, though, because our actual server for the rest of the meal was SO sweet and amazing. We had absolutely no complaints with her! But then the food came, and we were pleasantly surprised. The absolute showstopper was the truffle fries. All of us could not stop talking about how good they were. They were insanely crispy, the garlic aioli they came with was DELICIOUS, and they were so fresh when they came out. I would genuinely come back just for these. I also really enjoyed the chef's board. It gave us a lot of different things to pick and choose from, and the three of us were able to share the plates and the salad. We all left feeling full but not stuffed. It's the second time I've had the gnocchi and I just love the creamy flavors and varying textures of the dish. The French onion soup is classic, cheesy, and exactly what you want it to be. Others in my party got the airline chicken, which was a big hit! If you're in search of a romantic date night spot or an outdoor place in the shade, consider Passerelle!

It was a special of the month, but it was fat laden and inedible. Our conclusion was that the regular kitchen crew might have been on spring break, but it took several months for me to convince my wife (and mother-in-law) to return on a recent, rainy Saturday at lunch. One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch, so one bad meal after many great ones follows suit. I will say that sometimes there is inconsistency's in the dishes. I've had the pulled pork poutine when it was excellent with crisp fries and fluffy interior with that gravy and I've had it where it was a soupy and limp mess. But most times, the food is good. We will come back, our burgers were excellent and the wings are consistently good.
