However, during our most recent visit, we noticed quite a few changes from previous years, and unfortunately, not all for the better. They no longer have the scenic hayride that used to include a free donut and a cup of apple cider with your ticket purchase. Now, it's $5 per person, and instead of a peaceful scenic ride, it stops at every station and they no longer give you a donut & cider with ticket purchase. When we asked about the change, we were told it was because they weren't making money off the old setup. I understand businesses need to adjust, but it really took away from the experience. That scenic ride with the cider and donut was always one of the highlights for us ; something we truly looked forward to every year. They did add more bouncy houses for the kids, which is nice, but the ones they had before were just as fun. The food was about the same, decent, but nothing special. It was noticeably more expensive this year. $5 for a single ear of corn felt excessive. On the positive side, the cinnamon donuts are still amazing, and the apple cider is as delicious as ever. I also enjoyed the wine tasting, which is always fun, though seating is still limited and could be improved. Overall, the visit just didn't have the same charm or warmth as before. We still had an okay time, but it didn't feel as memorable as past years. Sadly, I think this might be our last year visiting, we'll probably look for a new orchard next fall.

They carry some zingermans products and their catering is very convenient around the holidays. They carry Christmas trees in the winter and lots of herbs, flowers, etc outside in the warmer months. I *love* their quiches. They have become a holiday staple in our family on Christmas and Thanksgiving morning. Lately I've been coming for postpartum prepared meals because I know their ingredients are decent. Everything is a bit pricey, but I know the stuff is quality and we've had such a good experience with their catering department. That we will be shopping here for a long time.

Only place in town I could find rhubarb the last week of March - Michigan grown! I was surprised but delighted to browse their extensive selection of craft beers, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages. This is definitely a good place to go if you're looking for something fun to try, or to bring something unique to a dinner party etc. They also have meat, dairy, a lot of ready-mades, and a nice looking salad bar. It is overall more expensive than other grocery stories, but presumably shopping here is supporting a local business and local farmers.

Gosh, I didn't know what I was missing. This is a true IYKYK! Once you have visited Horrocks, you will return for life. This is a magnificent, rustic, unique, expansive establishment that offers a cornucopia of items. From floral, to meats, cheeses, wine, speciality items, fruits, snacks, vegetables, hard-to-find items and more. There is so much more! Things that stood out even though I loved everything about this place: -the vast selection of canisters of olive oils -the vast array of different varieties of balsamic vinegars (amazing!) -house made items in every area -house made popcorn with so many flavors, so fresh. -the many, many homemade soups: probably around 20 different kinds and delicious. -a ramen bar, what? -bakery -pizzeria -exotic fruits and vegetables and regulars ones too -the wine bar: sip while you shop. -house-made sausages and cheeses -house-made jams, jellies, local honey -extensive variety of spices, herbs, flour and grains - great service, very helpful. Several of…read moreour old standbys were closed for the weekend so after a bit of digging we came across Berry Hill Farm. So cute! It's right on the border of Dexter/Chelsea and is just big enough to make picking SUPER easy but not so big that you need to spend a ton of time here. I think we were in and out in about 30-40 minutes at most, and we filled a whole flat with delicious berries. They're only open during picking season so check their facebook page for daily updates on picking quality and hours. When you arrive, check in with the owners and they'll give you a box with containers and an empty milk jug to tie around your waist for easy two handed picking. Then dig in! There are several rows of different berry varieties, including red raspberries, black raspberries, and golden raspberries. You'll know they're ripe when they're a deep color and pull right off the bush. The bushes, especially blackberries, are a bit spiky so be careful! I didn't bring gloves because I find them a bit cumbersome so I did get poked a couple of times but nothing major. When you're done, head back to the garage with your tray and they'll tally up your berries. Currently it's $2.50 per pint. Cash or check only. Brought home the berries and they were SO good. They really lasted a long time too. It's been over a week and I've still be throwing them in my yogurt every morning. Baked up beautifully in some breakfast bars too. Excited to have discovered this place and I'm definitely looking forward to visiting year after year.
