Thankful that they got our boat of the water (it swamped) but it went way downhill from there. Overcharged for parts. After 4 months we finally pulled boat and brought to new mechanic. Discovered that some work was done poorly (wires crossed, etc.) or not at all. Was told they cleaned the boat. When we pulled up the seat cushions, the water, leaves, and debris from the initial swamping was still there, and mold from 4 months of sitting. The upholstery which was pristine was also mottled with black spots. The owner was very challenging to work with. Honestly, the worst business experience we've ever had. There is more concerning how insurance was handled, but just the worst. The 2 stars is for removing the boat which was difficult work. read more

New to the area and boating, we bought an older pontoon boat. The 28 HP motor ran rough and would only reach about half normal RPM. $1,100 later it ran somewhat smoother but no higher in RPM. The worst part, their tech who worked on it claimed it ran perfectly. After a few words I was told "Well, maybe that's the best that old motor can run. We can get you a good used replacement for about $2,000 installed. " read more

This is not a trustworthy business, did not uphold end of agreement- boat dock build pushed out several months, not willing to work with customer. Lost $$$ with no labor or build started let alone ever completed. Took deposit and never got anything done! Boat service repair unsatisfactory also- took forever to get boat repair then still had issues- left our boat unattended and tied up to another boat dock across lake for several days- because it stalled on them as they were returning it after they had in shop several weeks Do your research! We have been using the Boat Service for about 13 years. They take it out every winter and put it back in the Marina every spring. They have done an. excellent job in keeping our 2000, 20ft pontoon boat running like a top. read more

Owners were very helpful to come out and look at boats received as an estate holding. Did not do any repairs so cannot rate that service. One boat was sold right away and the other boat we actually had to pay to get rid of because of condition. Problem we had was getting any paperwork after the fact ( never have) and absolutely no response to any telephone calls, texts or emails. Receipts were needed for the courts so we had to give court their contact. Their service for repairs and sale may be very good but get paperwork at point of sale. read more

Misdiagnosed my boat engine problem, over charged me big time , th then overcharged me again to do the actually needed repairs. Treated like shizz , very rude and defensive, if you want to be takin real good this is your shop. If there was a rating lower than 1 , they would get it ! They have a website that shows them permanently closed. But they are still whacking melons !!!!! read more

We have taken our boat to be winterized before with no problems but this last winter the winterization wasn't completed properly and the engine block cracked which required us to have a new short block installed. I suspect it is due to carelessness or negligence as winterizing is pretty uncomplicated. I barely made it a quarter of a mile across the lake this spring before the warning buzzer went off and I had to shut down the engine. Once back at the shop the techs weren't able to find the cause of the overheating. The boat was given back to me after a few weeks with no thermostat. Sure, it ran cool and masked the crack in the block for a ride or two. I took it to another shop and they found the cracked block rather quickly. I know it was a hard winter but if the winterization would have been completed properly then we would have avoided the $6000 expense for a new engine block and installation. When I communicated with The Boat Service, they took no responsibility and were quite adept at deflecting any blame. read more
