From the moment you step into the Boathouse, the stunning views across the Bay, of the Anzac Bridge, the Fish Markets and the Sydney city skyline, will blow you away. Floor to ceiling glass windows to really celebrate the view, making this a truly spectacular and memorable location. If you love gazing at lights reflecting on water by night as much as me, dinner here is a must. The array of the different coloured, sparkling lights, from the Bridge and Skyline, dancing across the water are simply gorgeous. The colours are so rich and vibrant I'd probably remain mesmerised if I were in boring company... Ideal for a cosy, romantic evening for two. A nice intimate setting, the converted boat house keeps with the ship theme, with a classic decor of wooden floors, simple white linen and china, and keeps the focus on the two stars of the Boathouse - the view and of course the food - Super fresh, top quality seasonal seafood. My picks to start are the Tartare of Yellowfin Tuna, Seared Cuttlefish, Radish, Ginger & Soy ($27), or the Oysters ($4.20-6) from various regions around the country, served with mignonette & dark rye bread. For mains, Roast Coffs Harbour Bar Cod Spanner Crab, Bisque, Peas & Lettuce ($41), or the Roast Cone Bay Barramundi Beetroot, Cavalo Nero & Braised Beef Cheek ($41). The Snapper Pie is their signature dish and I've heard it's worth a try, is served with Smoked Tomato & Mashed Potato (48). The restaurant has been awarded a number of Chef's Hats from the renowned 'Good Food Guide' that along with the location do make this a restaurant to try.

Boathouse at Black Wattle Bay showcases seafood which is a consistent theme of cuisine for my husband and I. The weather isn't that good for our anniversary lunch but it still has one of the best city views in Sydney looking across to the Fish Markets and the Anzac Bridge as the backdrop. The Boathouse is a converted rowing shed in a very quiet back street of Glebe. The ambience inside is perfect as the restaurant has nice wooden floors, lots of glass window and our table feels like it's over the water. The fact that you start and can get a choice from 10 different types of oysters says something in itself as we order the Coffin Bay Angassi. I love that the oysters come in a bowl of chilled ice with a tin bowl to dispense the oyster shells. And there it is my anticipation met with a big salty silkiness and a sprinkle of lemon sitting on my palate. Even though we have come for our anniversary I'm not feeling that sentimental today as I am asked whether I want to share my Snapper Pie by my loved one. When the pie comes I peel the top crust back from one side then put my fork clean through the middle and one of my favourite aromas and tastes rise from the pie - that musty 'forest floor' mushroom smell. The smell and taste of truffle that intensifies any flavours in the food it is combined with. It will take me hours to savour each morsel. A serving of smoked tomato and mashed potato just makes it even better. I am unashamed to say I did not share one piece of my pie; he has had it before so the only thing I'm guilty of is gluttony but I paid for it as I went to eat it so quickly I burnt my tongue. Be warned the Snapper pie is served boiling hot. As much as I want too I can't bring myself to have dessert it cannot be had I haven't even taken note of what my husband ordered or taken my usual tourist roll of photos. Boathouse at Black Wattle is considered pricey but I think for its location, service and quality of food its worth every cent and more.

In a beautiful spot across the water from the famous fish markets, The Boathouse has a great atmosphere and delicious food, it was a wonderful way to celebrate the first sunny Saturday in a long while. The waitress was very knowledgeable and did a great job with pairing our wines with the meal. For mains, we went for the Jack Mangrove and Swordfish. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, with well balanced and subtle garnishing. The texture of the Swordfish was actually more similar to a soft and tender steak than any fish, with a wonderful grilled flavor - Delicious! Although we were extremely happy with our main meal, I'd like to make a comment on the thick cut chips - They were far too dry, I wouldn't recommend them. But hey, we didn't come for the chips anyway. Dessert was fantastic. We ordered the Banana soufflé and the Mandarin sorbet. They were the perfect pairing of desserts, the banana soufflé with a more creamy texture and dairy flavors, while the mandarin sorbet had crunchy incorporations, as well as being acidic in flavor. I would most certainly come again for a spot of lunch, and will be trying their dinner menu next month.

    Best seat in the house.

I recently cooked a snapper pie following their recipe. So I wondered how it compared to the real thing. But I'll come to that later. We weren't really sure whether to share the pie as a main and just order 2 entres. In hindsight that's what we should have done. For entres we ordered the Sashimi of Geraldton Yellowtail Kingfish, Puffed Rice, Ponzu, Fingerlime (9/10) And the Confit Fremantle Octopus Potato, Parsley, Garlic (8/10). Both were delicious and presented beautifully. For mains we shared the Pan Fried Wallis Lake Flathead, Ricotta, Zucchini Flower, Shellfish Oil (7/10) a little disappointing but as you'll see in the photo, the presentation was a piece of art, special mention for the zucchini flowers. We of course had the Snapper Pie with Smoked Tomato & Mashed Potato (9/10). The pie was magnificent but I must say the one I cooked was as good. The Soubise Sauce (onion sauce) I think did not have enough onion but that's my preference. We chose a Cork Cutters Pinot Gris from the Marlborough region. A little sweet but went well with the food. At $55 I guess I felt a little ripped off as it was the cheapest bottle on the list. The total bill came to a tad over $200.

Came here for lunch on a sunny Sunday, enjoyed the oysters (try the organic ones if they are on the menu) and a 3 course meal. All the dishes were gorgeous and the service was fantastic, would definitely come here again!

We came on a Sunday at 1:00P and only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Most tables are on the covered outdoor patio with just a few others inside the open air setting. We started off with a raw plate to share, followed by individual entrées. + SALMON CEVICHE (A$28): Thin slices of salmon in a bright zesty citrus soy dressing, with dollops of avocado cream and lime aioli. The salmon was so smooth, buttery and super fresh. I rarely eat ceviche since I usually don't care for citrus flavors, but I enjoyed this since the salmon remained the star of the plate. + DAINTREE BARRAMUNDI FILLET GRILLED (A$38): A perfectly sized fillet was delicate, moist and didn't have any bones! The skin was grilled and crisp like a chip. Normally, I'm not a fan of skin on fish, but this was impeccable. A few cauliflower florets in a flavorful chermoula added a bold punch. I also loved the salted barra croquette, a fritter of potato and barramundi, which was fried to a golden brown and light inside. All of this was on top of a fresh mint yogurt which rounded out this very cohesive dish. Others in my group enjoyed the swordfish fillet and the fish of the day, which was a mahi mahi. Our waitress enticed us with two desserts which all of us shared as a sweet ending. + DARK CHOCOLATE PARFAIT (A$18): A rich chocolate pudding layered with Queen Garnet plums and topped with large chocolate shavings. The pudding was creamy and rich while the ripe plums added sweetness with a hint of tartness. + TOASTED COCONUT & MANGO CRUMBLE (A$16): A delightful refreshing coconut sorbet came with juicy cubes of fresh mango on top. Some granola crumbles provided crunch and substance to an otherwise light dessert. I never would have guessed this is both gluten-free and dairy-free. Our server was excellent and took wonderful care of us by checking back and keeping our waters full. We appreciated her recommendations as well. On top of the great service and delicious food, every dish had a lovely presentation and the pricing was reasonable for the quality of each plate.

Cirrus, names after the cloud like apartment that sits above it. We recommend that you all also promptly book in, it is absolutely incredible and certainly deserves all the accolades it has received. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, you can sit inside or alfresco, enjoying views of our breathtaking harbour. A crisp and stylish place with minimal decor, yet it feels classy with its floor to ceiling glass. Chefs coming to you from the the Bentley, Monopole and Yellow restaurants and Chef Brent Savage has put together an array of seafood delights with incredible flavour combinations and the freshest selection of seafood, sustainably caught. Don't fret, if you have a non seafood eater amongst you, there's vegetarian and meat options as well. The waitress informed us that the dishes at Cirrus were designed to be shared. As a party of 6, she recommended 6 entrees, 6 mains and 4 sides. We ordered one less main than her recommendation and we were extremely full. The meats in particular were very generous servings. We also shared 3 desserts. We began with a few oysters, served with a vinaigrette and these were a beautiful start to our dining experience. We shared a number of starters including their famous Ocean trout with smoked beetroot and pepperberry and toast. The smoked beetroot lay atop the ocean trout mixture, almost like a starfish and the texture was simply divine. The small plate of raw Cobia (like a sashimi) with salted apple, turnip and sesame was quite refreshing. We shared two plates of the roasted King Prawns and Koji Butter. These prawns were were beautifully cooked, and a generous lashing of the butter sauce. We also really enjoyed the Fremantle octopus with kohlrabi and green chilli salsa. The octopus was super fresh, tender and nice crisp outer flavour, topped with ribbons of kohlrabi. Given Cirrus is primarily a seafood restaurant, we could go past having a number of fish for our mains. We enjoyed the the Hiramasa kingfish with grilled cucumber, buttermilk and mint. Nice and soft fish with a pleasant sauce. The cone bay barramundi was also lovely and was presented with some beautiful coils of charred onions and watercress. The roasted swordfish was another winner, served with fennel, buckwheat and bottarga. The Grilled black angus rib eye, 500 g was a big serving, and served with kombu butter, a very good comfort food choice. We ordered it medium and it was perfectly cooked to our request. The barbecued lamb neck may not be something you'd expect at a seafood restaurant but for the meat lovers amongst us, it is a brilliant dish. We shared all the sides; chips and aioli, radicchio salad, an absolutely beautiful plate of grilled asparagus with fresh curd and black olive, as well as a lovely serve of zucchini with hazelnut, yoghurt and turmeric. As for the drinks, Sommelier Nick Hildebrandt has also organised a wide selection of wines, 500 from around the world where you can get advice on the best to pair with your food selection. We chose a bottle of Riesling, which was a lovely pairing. All of this amongst 6 diners and including 3 bottles of wine and bread came to $130 each, which is pretty reasonable given the size of the servings and amount of food. If you'd prefer, the tasting menu is available for $110 each for the whole table, though we preferred to order so we could try a greater range of options. We absolutely loved dining at Cirrus and can't recommend it enough!

Was excited by the theatre of the steak of it being shown, cooked, cut up at the table and salted. When it arrived it did not seem to be the 1.5kg tomahawk originally shown. Inside has a more formal ambiance we appreciated, but outside - assuming no cruise ship in the way - is probably the way to go for views, as we requested an inside top floor table with a view and didn't get much of one; turns out not many tables inside with a view. Service was mostly good but oddly slow in a few spots, the wine list was on iPad, and our pomme puree (mashed potatoes) came quite late. Steak was very good. MB7+ tomahawk is a terrific presentation, perfectly cooked to your specification, and described in detail. If you want the very highest quality (MB9) unfortunately thay was not on the menu when we visited, but it was surprisingly difficult find higher than MB7 on the regular menu of any of their competitors so I digress... (keyword: regular) Rest of the food was excellent. Little gem salad and chips are included with your tomahawk, the pomme puree was deliciously creamy if you like creamy mashed potatoes, broccolini hit the spot. And the scallops, while modest in appearance, won high praise. As someone who normally has a hard time going out for steak, given I can almost always make a better one at home, I do have to say that for a special occasion, 6HEAD was on the mark.
