The best body weight exercises I've ever done. From the high intensity dynamic power training to the Strength-Stretching they hit every muscle & joint, increasing strength & flexibility at the same time. Excellent one on one private sessions for pain relief, pulled muscles, tension & stretching. Facility is very neat & clean, great community. Can't recommend them enough. read more

This will probably be the most challenging Yelp review I ever write. I was a consistent 4-5 classes/week customer for 4.5 years in the Morrisville location until earlier this year when I decided not to renew due to various reasons. I believe in the concept of The Body Mechanic and want to see some MAJOR improvements, so it can grow and become the business it CAN be. At this time, The Body Mechanic offers 2 consistent classes: Dynamic Power Training (taught by Jeff Wooten AKA The Body Mechanic) and Yin Yoga (taught by Candace Seidl). They also offer a few less frequent classes including a weekly Deep Breathing webinar, a Flow/Yin combo that is taught about once a month and a self-defense seminar that is offered on occasion. Jeff Wooten and Mary Wire also offer a variety of massages. Dynamic Power Training (DPT) is a unique form of exercise that was developed by Jeff Wooten. It is a blend of martial arts, yoga and calisthenics. In my opinion, it is an AMAZING class that definitely got me hooked years ago. It is not a high intensity form of exercise, but the combination definitely contributed to me getting in the BEST shape of my life. Be prepared to do sit-ups, push-ups, yoga poses, walking lunges, random stretches and more in this class that is paired with fun high-energy music. No 2 classes are the same. This class is for men and women of all ages/shapes/sizes. There are many modifications to make the exercises more or less intense for students. At this time, Dynamic Power Training is offered: * Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 AM * Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 PM * Saturday at 8:00 AM * Sunday at 5:00 PM Yin Yoga is a GREAT class to pair with Dynamic Power Training or on its own. It is an opportunity to slow down and hold many poses (seated, supine or prone) with relaxed muscles for several minutes. When Candace originally offered this class, I had NO desire to attend because it was such a drastic difference from Dynamic Power Training and required relaxation (which I have never been great at); Candace convinced me to try it one Saturday morning, and I am SO GLAD she did. It is such an amazing class that has taught me so many unique ways to stretch and relax. I am such a fan of Candace and her teaching methodology and practice. It is SO clear to me how much she cares about each student. We are all so different and she makes a HUGE effort to make sure everyone is comfortable and getting a good stretch. If they are unable to do the pose (due to surgeries, body structure, whatever) that the class is doing, she will find them another pose that will work for him/her. I have learned so much from Candace and encourage anyone to take the class and learn from her during class or just though conversation. At this time, Yin Yoga is offered: * Wednesday at 6:00 PM * Saturday at 9:45 AM The Body Mechanic is owned and managed by Jeff Wooten. Unfortunately, Jeff has not identified someone else who can/will teach Dynamic Power Training, so he is the ONLY instructor. Jeff takes at least 4 days off every month to relax/recoup. This means Dynamic Power Training and regularly scheduled massages are cancelled on a regular basis. There is no official schedule for these days off, and clients receive an email a few weeks to 2 months in advance. I am a planner, so I would prefer this be scheduled more in advance to allow students to make plans or schedule vacations of our own. In 2014, Jeff cancelled 45 DPT classes; in 2015, Jeff cancelled 65 DPT classes. Candace has been able to offer a Flow/Yin combo class on the Saturdays when Jeff is out; she also has offered a few other yoga classes during the week when he is out. I hope Jeff works with her more in the future by communicating with her his planned vacations and finding out when she is available to teach during his absence; this is currently a 2 step process which isn't a great experience for the clients. One of my other complaints (hate to use that word) is the business is DIRTY. There is so much dust, hair and other dirt that really needs to be addressed. I believe Jeff uses a dust mop at least once a day, but that tends to move the dust, dirt, etc. around the room rather than pick it up. He only "cleans" the mats in the main exercise room, therefore there are plenty of other areas in the room that remain dirty. Keep in mind, classes are done barefoot and we are on the mats a lot. I am not a fan of seeing hair, bugs, etc. inches from my face when I am exercising or deep breathing. I truly hope Jeff is able to take my suggestions/advice to heart and make some major improvements to the business as they relocate to Cary in the coming months. I truly believe that The Body Mechanic can be a very successful business, and I want it to be a HUGE success. read more

I have been seeing Jeff Wooten, owner of The Body Mechanic, now for three years. I first came to see Jeff, for plantar fasciitis issues, on a friends recommendation. My plantar issues cleared up quickly and have not returned with the massage and recommended home exercises. I came for one thing and in return have been given much more. Along with monthly body work appointments I attend the DPT classes. My body and mind have become healthier and stronger than ever. The massage therapy is tailored specifically for your needs. I walk away every time feeling better than when I walked in. It gives me the opportunity to keep pushing my body. The DPT classes challenge my mind and body by pushing my body's full range of motion. Jeff encourages you give more when you feel you have reached your limit. The classes are low impact which decreases the risk of injury. I leave class feeling strong and ready to take on the stress in my life. Jeff with the help of Mary Wire, massage therapist, and Candace Seidl, yoga teacher, create a positive atmosphere. I cannot say enough great things about Jeff, Mary, Candace, and all the classes and services they provide. I've been taking Jeff's Body Mechanic Classes for over three years now and they have done a phenomenal job with progressing my overall body strength and increasing my flexibility. I'm doing things in this class that I never thought I'd be able to do because I'm stronger and way more flexible now than I have ever been. Another extremely valuable benefit of his classes and Candace's yoga classes are the stretches we perform in class. I have not any injuries from anything done in the classes. More importantly, thanks to the focus on the entire body, the number of occasional pains like a typical "tweaks" in the neck and back that most of us experience have virtually disappeared. The combinations of relaxation/mediation, low-impact interval strength exercises, and gentle yet disciplined stretching moves creates this "flexible strength" that is one of Jeff's mantras. Lastly, if you do have any injuries whether they are new or chronic, the truly therapeutic massages Jeff and Mary provide are second to none. While they are certainly quite skilled in provide the typical relaxation massages, they are exceptional at provide real therapy through massage. read more

I've been a life-long fitness enthusiast primarily as a bicyclist, runner and someone who lifts weights. I've had back problems for the majority of my adult life. I was introduced to Jeff's classes over fours years ago and he has changed my life. Previous to my first visit to a Dynamic Power Training (DPT) class, I had never been to a group exercise class in my life. Jeff's DPT classes are a combination of stretching, balance, yoga, kung fu and calisthenics. I'm approaching 50 years old and I am in my best all-around shape (flexibility, well rounded strength and balance). I find DPT to compliment my running and biking in many ways. I started massages at the Body Mechanic 2 years ago this month. I had been plagued with chronic neck and shoulder pain for years and also occasional knee pain during my runs. I felt I had tried everything and nothing could fully get rid of the problems. My range of motion was limited. I already felt a lot better after my first massage. After a few months of massages and daily exercises Jeff recommended, my pain was totally gone, despite my long work days in front of a computer. Then I tried my first DPT class and I immediately got hooked. It was extremely challenging, but the atmosphere of the group was very welcoming and I felt so good after the class and so inspired by the amazing things Mary and other students could do! The deep breathing was dissolving the stress of my work day. I could tell the exercises would quickly make me stronger and more flexible. And I enjoyed the fun upbeat music. I love yin yoga classes too. They are a great complement to high energy workouts, as the long poses help relax muscles & connective tissues, and they are very calming. Candace is knowledgeable, gentle and very attentive to each student and she tries to find extra pampering touches like aromatherapy that make the experience special. In the last 2 years, thanks to some great teaching and coaching from Jeff, I've learned a lot about how to build a resilient body, my body awareness has improved and I've celebrated milestones I did not think were possible. I ran my first half-marathon and finished in a great time, injury free and without knee pain! I've participated in several fitness challenges and broken several personal records. I am more flexible and stronger than ever before. Even after 2 years of regular attendance, I look forward to the classes. I first started at the body mechanic as a sports massage client under Mary. She was and is incredible, and her talk of the DPT classes caught my interest and I eventually tried them as well. Immediately I knew this was the most thorough, most complete, most difficult workout I had ever done. I was determined to keep coming and improve my strength and flexibility, despite how challenging the workout was for me. I really liked Jeff's philosophy about taking your body through a full range of motion through power yoga and other strengthening and stretching tchniques, all the while with zero risk of injury because it was body weight training only, no weights. You just push your body as far as you desire. And 10 months later I am still hooked and so much stronger, more flexible, and healthier physically and mentally. I still receive monthly massage there and now I also take Yin Yoga there too and am hooked on the calming affects that it has in my body. In addition, my 10 year old daughter has joined DPT and she loves it. So has my husband, and he used to do the P90 workouts and has since given them up. I would highly recommend The Body Mechanic to anyone who is serious about incorporating fitness and health as part of their daily life. read more
