***COMPLAINT MINT SPA, SUMMERIDE***…read more Just a heads up to people in Summerside: I have been to Mint Spa an Aveda Concept Spa a couple of times and absolutely loved my experience. So, for my Mom's birthday, March 3rd, I decided to purchase a spa package for her from Mint Spa. I purchased the, "Cloud Nine," package for $300 txs incl. According to their website this treatment is a 4 hour spa treatment beginning with a Body Bliss Scrub, next a 60 minute Signature Massage, followed by an Aveda Specialty Facial, finishing off with a Luxurious Pedicure. My mother has had facials and massages at many different spa locations in Charlottetown, so she knows what to expect. On March 7th she went in for her spa treatment. First of all, they did not start the treatment off with a scrub (as they site on their website), but a massage first, followed by the scrub, which makes no sense to me, but that is not the complaint here. Next was the, "Signature massage." The therapist informed my mother that she had blisters on her hands and that she would be wearing gloves for the massage. YES, you just read that right! Gloves! I am a Registered Massage Therapist and this is ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPTABLE. If I cannot go to work and perform my job with my hands... then I would not go to work, simple. So, the, "Signature Massage," began with the therapist wearing gloves. The therapist used a thick cream/lotion and because of the gloves my Mom found that it did not distribute well on the body. The gloves also made a swooshing sound throughout the massage. My Mom said she could barely feel any pressure, which she thought may be due to the fact that the therapist was wearing gloves. So she mentioned to the therapist that she could use more pressure. The therapist informed my mother that it was just a relaxation massage, which my mother said she understood. After some time and still no pressure whatsoever, with the massage becoming more and more uncomfortable for my mother, my mother asked the therapist if her hands were bothering her, which the therapist replied, "kind of." My mother also noted there seemed to be a throat irritation, as the therapist coughed or had to clear her throat about every 10 minutes throughout the spa treatment. Needless to say, my mother found the massage to be very uncomfortable. At the beginning of the facial (same therapist for entire package) my mom noticed the therapist did not put a head band or towel on her head-most places do this at the beginning of a facial to keep the oil and lotions out of the hair. When my mom politely asked if she could have a head band to keep her short hair off of her forehead, the therapist informed her that they do not do that (use head bands) at Mint Spa, because they finish off the facial with a scalp massage, my mom thought how wonderful. However, at the end of the facial, the therapist failed to perform the scalp massage. Furthermore, the therapist continued to wear the gloves throughout the facial. Anyone who has had a facial knows that part of a facial includes a facial massage. Imagine a facial massage done with gloves; not very relaxing. Next, the therapist asked my mother if she would like extractions done, she said yes, the therapist turned on the light, did one extraction, and then turned off the light. My mother knew there were more extractions to be done, and says she just felt as though the therapist did not want to be there.

My therapist Jordan introduced himself, and had a one to one chat on what I was looking for in my massage and any questions beforehand which was very appreciated. The massage itself was incredible, my neck hasn't felt this good in years. After my sisters and I enjoyed a wonderful pedicure. I've found pedicures can be hit or miss but this treatment was super spoiling, warm foot bath, massage, cuticles, a parra fin wax treatment which was new to me but so neat ! The team also kept our cups of tea full throughout the treatment with delicious complimentary tea. Will definitely go again and our only complaint would be one of the massage chairs was broken and was momentarily possessed during our pedicure... Hehehe.

I have a very mixed review for this spa. I was with a bridal party of seven people who all had…read moremanicures done. They pulled in three staff members which was fantastic, offered us a refreshment of water or tea, and were very kind. Five out of five for the staff and atmosphere. I hate to give such a poor overall rating but the reason I gave a two out of five is because of my actual manicure. I had a shellac manicure done. Two of my nails weren't filed straight so I had to fix that when I got home and noticed that on quite a few of my nails there were missed corners and the polish didn't go all the way to the edges of my nails. For $45 I was quite disappointed to discover this on multiple nails. I really did enjoy the staff but because of how my manicure turned out and the high cost I paid, I would not return to Namaste again nor would I recommend it to a friend.
